Many thanks to you Suzy, Boon and Melanie. Single most useful video I’ve seen on Long Covid/dysautonomia. Why aren’t the NHS commissioning this type of patient education?

What he said about type A & highly threat aware is sooo true. I've been doing Acceptance & Commitment Therapy about how I have always had a high threat awareness, anxiety, & v "active" fight or flight response lol

I’m 21 months long Covid. I had low blood pressure before I got sick and was an athlete. I suffered many bouts of autonomic dysfunction I found restorative yoga a bridge to be able to walk and do light exercises. Tens unit , vagus nerve exercises , beta blockers , electrolytes, salt and pacing is essential!!

An excellent interview which makes sense of a bewildering constellation of sensations in the body. Thanks so much to you all for sharing this :)

Fantastic talk. I've heard these things before but it's comforting hearing it from a cardiologist. The type A personality and dysautonomia link is something Taiwanese doctors believe also. Deconditioning causing pots is also a debated topic but the astronaut studies make it more likely that it is a thing.

Wow thank you! I’ve had ME since 2014 and a very high heart rate and this describes exactly how I feel. But imagine anyone listening to my symptoms in 2014! I just hope it’s not too late to recover now, as I have been bedbound/sofa bound for so long. It’s so good of you all to give your time and effort to help.

Good luck Jer! The book "Breaking Free" by Jan Rothney may help you too. I purchased the online course in addition and she co-presents that with someone she coached back to health after 20 years house bound. There is always hope ❤ and I am SURE the nervous system is the answer. My long covid symptoms have changed rapidly since I put that theory into practise.

Thank you! I am a nurse and have had an unusual number of patients with postural hypotention. They are typically treated with Midodrine, which is sometimes effective but the patients often have hyPERtension in supine and seated postures. The patients can not participate effectively in rehabilitation and are a constant fall risk. What can I do, as a nurse?

I've had good experiences with these - they fit me well, Dr. Boon Lim recommended this brand amongst others (I had my GP prescribe them to me, UK) www.daylong.co.uk/essential-semitransparent-class-2-compression-tights.html

Omg suzy 100% with you on the comment about your body making you take time out by putting you in a state of illness. I'm sure that's me too. Also well rounded high achiever over here . Question is , how do u stop this propensity for below the radar stress and then weird illnesses. Is it just more meditation and yoga and brain training to try rewire

@@suzyboltyogaforlongcovidthank you hopefully this situation has taught me lots of skills and attitudes to use going forwards. Slowing down a bit, really listening to my body, practicing more mindfulness etc. I still slip up and do things that aren't self serving but at least I'm aware

54:37 Far from feeling that this section was any kind of judgement, I found it so validating! My super-chilled, laid back brother got covid the same week as me, but was back in the gym after a fortnight, whereas I'm still fatigued and incapacitated two years later. It is hard to accept that my personality type helped land me in this situation, but at least now I have some understanding of why.

Why no one ever discuss DLco in the context on dysautonomia?

I'm a doctor (a geriatrician too!) with long covid & I've been putting together this kind of idea in my head, I've been working on my vagus nerve & calming my fight & flight for several months now. I'm getting better! (plus beta blocker) I also wonder if it's helping that I'm back on immunosuppression for arthritis because that flared with long covid.

Also do Buteyko breathing ... produce and distribute Nitric Oxide to open your blood vessels and increase your CO2 tolerance so your O2 gets distributed out into your organs, tissues, and muscles. Both activate your Parasympathetic Nervous System.

This is a great video and really useful, thank you. But I'm really curious, at 24 minutes in, he says ivabradine doesn't affect adrenaline with one curious exception. Then he went into the slides, but I'm not sure he ever clarified how that information relates to ivabradine? Is it too late for an answer as to what that exception is?

Suzy, you said you had the adrenaline surging a year ago, did you have COVID and/or long COVID? Or just autonomic dysfunction as POTS or sub POTS? How did you heal after a year?
@suzyboltyogaforlongcovid
@suzyboltyogaforlongcovid 3 года назад
Covid yes, long Covid yes. I did gentle calming yoga daily - sometimes just lying totally still. Then I added in some tiny weights to start to rebuild my tolerance - I followed a good protocol of diet and antihistamines and pro biotics etc. I didn’t at any point get too worried about what was happening once I had been given the all clear from A and E. I trusted that my symptoms would settle.. and they have
