Somewhere on youtube there's a video somewhere around 40 minutes long that has interviews with the band members, and before that they're talking on the phone. Amazing footage of cliff on there

Personally I think Cliff sounds a bit like Lars but with a different accent

They do all sound so much the same, with the exception of James, like another says because they spent so much of their time together. Either way this is REALLY FRIKKEN COOL!!! To think this happened quite a while ago. I was 13, about the time I first heard them, and they became my favorite band. I'm trying to remember what I was doing at that time.......

He really was. Not to say they didn't make good music after, but he really was Metallica.

I have heard that Ron didn't like the tough thrash metal culture, and that he felt overwhelmed by it. He was probably a rather sensitive person, and those kinds of people often take things personally and feel uncomfortable by that.

Cliff and Lars definitely bonded over their love of weed. Lol But, I do believe they had a friendship. Not like Cliff and Kirk or Cliff and James, like you said, but they did have a friendship with one another. Lars has a shrine to Cliff in his house. He has Cliff's last bass (with the original strings on it still!) on display.

⁠@@PurpleskyshorizonNone of that is the same as being friends with the guy. Lars doesn’t even seem to have any particularly fond memories of Cliff when prompted. Usually his go-to tangent when asked about Cliff is to talk about his impact on the band’s legacy, which isn’t the first thing I’d think of to talk about if I were asked about my dead friend.

@@dreamofyouandiyou guys are so strange man. people process grief differently. you weren’t there and you don’t know these people. they spent years together every single day, then he suddenly passed. all of them. they were all close.

@@SkeeveeKirk said himself that he felt more comfortable around Cliff in the early years of him joining Metallica. They both shared interests with Horror comics, ect. We don’t know them personally, but we know things from INTERVIEWS. Kirk has said that he was closest with Cliff- “We always had our arms around each other, joking around and play wrestling. He was probably my closest buddy”, as Kirk said. They were all close, but like every group, there’s always going to be people who feel closer with certain people.

Well maybe interviewer didn't know Metallica before The Four Horsemen... And the response wasn't wierd, they don't like to talk about the guy that is constantly going around and bashing them...

way back in the 80s in my teens i would go through periods where a certain Metallica song was my favorite Metallica song for awhile, and there was absolutely a long period where "Escape" was my favorite. i have never understood their own or anyone elses dislike of that song. "The Thing That Should Not Be" and "Disposable Heroes" both had long stretches too, but "Orion" is probably my real all time favorite. yet "Ride The Lightning" is my favorite album.

Dave was kind of a jackass back then. Great musician but yeah. Ron McGovney told Chris Jericho that Dave M. used to behave badly a lot and he was the only one who would tell him to knock it off. James and Lars liked his playing too much to say anything.

​@@eduardozepol2000TUI is definitely not filler. It's actually only one of two fast songs on that album. It's the song on the album that sounds equally hardcore punk as it does heavy metal.

Cliff. I think Kirk likes the song. Cliff and James didn't care for it.
