Kirk Hammett of Metallica and Scott Ian of Anthrax speak about Cliff Burton during the second of four Metallica 30th birthday concerts. Recorded live @ The Fillmore in San Francisco, California on December 5th, 2011.
In order to tell a cohesive story they would probably have to concentrate on one bands story. Metallica is probably the band it would have to be about to drive mainstream movie viewers.
Legend has it Cliff once started playing through a Crate 1x10 combo and within 30 seconds it transformed into a full 8x10 Mesa Boogie stack with a box of perfectly rolled joints on top
he's recreating what he saw at the time, no one was using the wah pedal at the time, so he was making his emotions what he saw at the time he saw it the first time i think
An epic neo classical thrash band writing epic ballads mixed with heavy riffs and harmonies. Or at least that's what they would be in my perfect little world lol
Kevin Dunn Mustaine would have brought so many epic riffs (he proved it throughout Megadeth's early albums) and cliff would have kept the epic ballad infused, harmony guitars mixed with heavy riff songwriting alive while James creates the heavy riffs spurred on by the incredible band line up that could have been. Oh well, Mustaine was fired from Alcoholica for being an alcoholic. Maybe he was better off on his own with hired hands learning his riffs and songs
Kevin Dunn Oh yeah another thing. Look at it this way. Iced earth writes incredibly epic masterpieces of songs. At least we have them. That's how i look at Metallica dying anyway.
@Rotten to the Core! Wow, that must've been your "top notch" insult from your loser list. Well, hate to tell ya, it sucked, kind of like U do, U suck major nutsack. Ever heard the saying, "if you can't say something nice, DON'T OPEN YOUR Squawk BOX BITCH".? 🤘
"His wah pedal thing" LOL, c'mon Kirk, don't act like you don't know what it is. You've been using it on every song, for every album, and every gig since 1983.
I remember seeing metallica open for Ozzy in Tucson AZ, was on the left side of the stage and Cliff Burton broke 3 strings on his bass and still kept jamming on his bass. RIP Cliff!!!!!!!!!
I still despise Metallica for turning a blind eye to Dimebag Darrel's death. His death marks the end of an era and the way he went was fucking unnatural and unfair.
2 of the best guitar players in the business - RIGHT THERE (Scott is one of the tightest rhythm guitars I've ever seen live, and while he's stomping around moshing too - and Kirk - pure class....)
lets be honest mettalic lost a big part of their sound losing that bad ass wah bass sound. I think it's obvious from what they did to Jason's bass sound on Justice and even later albulms they refused to let Jason or anyone try to emulate cliff and thats what screwed their later sound as good as some of it was.....
Metallica and The Allman Brothers Band. Two bands who always made sure to keep the spirits alive of their beloved band mates. Cliff Burton and Duane Allman.... 2 of the best... both gone to soon from bad accidents..... 2 legends.
I'd say it's fairly normal, but at the same time, what do you expect man, it's a freaking Metallica show and they're talking about Cliff... of course people are going to get excited.
I hate when musicians are telling stories and audience members holler and woot at the most mundane shit that doesnt require one. "Yeah, so I went in to the store and bought myself a new watch..." Audience member: "WHOOOOOOOO! YEAAAAAH NEW WATCH🤘!" Stfu🙄 They literally cheered for remembering what walk mans are...
ok but what was the reason? what im saying is if they made a album like and justice for all it would sell good because there fans are still people who like those old albums. i like metallica but i havent bought anything after the black album i quit listening to them but i still listen to everything before that.
because the new generation doesnt listen to metallica but they will always have there older fans. thts how music works, bands try to adapt to new times and they dont know how they suck at it then the new people dont like old bands and they lose there true fan base. hence the reason everyone says metallica hasnt made a good album since the black album
@SaMiAm702 What's wrong with selling out? Grunge came along and they clearly had to change their style to expand their fanbase and keep on earning money. Remember, 50 billion flies can't be wrong, shit tastes good! Why shouldn't they change their style to adapt to the market? That's illogical, we live in a world where we need money, if music is your ticket to money and fame, so be it, nothing wrong with that.
@heatpicking Thank you for pointing this out for the haters who bitch about kirks wahing out so much..I wish they all could see this comment and take the time to consider what you just said, thank you.
@arabianmetalhead99 Ill take the Black album over shitty Warbringer and Evile anyday. Give me some original bands that don't rip of Slayer and Exodus thank you
