Apprentices need heath at interview stage. This video from The Recritment Guy will help any future apprentice perform better at interview. Interview tips & advice fromThe Recruitment Guy, Graham Martin
My interview went completely different than what i was expecting. it was actually more of a friendly conversation than an interview which was great because i was feeling quite nervous but i got a letter back from the company offering me the position and was really delighted
I went for a fitness gym instructor apprenticeship. Before I went, I researched the company, how many people attend the gym and what they provide. I also brough my CV, which was two pages long, with all my certificates. The very next day they gave me the job, best feeling ever.
This is perfect timing as I have an interview next week. However mine is over the “Zoom” up which has made me even more nervous but from listening to this i have done everything you’ve said: researched, organised and practiced. Thank you! :)
Thank your for this video, really amazing. Basically i have got an assessment day with Airbus for a craft apprenticeship , as i really passionate about aircraft. I design radio controlled aircraft and drones and fly them. so i was wondering, do u think it would be a good idea to take one of my designs with me in the day of the assessment? this could be a video you might wonna look into to make, ( things to take with you to interviews/assessment days for apprenticeships)
It's be really useful if you could make a video about interview cliches like 'hard working', 'enthusiastic' etc and what to say instead of them :) Because I never know what to say that isn't cliche haha!
Why do prospective employers not show the candidates around the factory on the first interview? Likely being straight from school or college showing them the environment they will be working in will surely be a great opener to the interview.
I've got an interview for local 18 elevator mechanic apprenticeship here in Las Vegas tomorrow. I'm praying for this. well see how it goes hopefully i can come back and comment that I got the job
Hey Jon, research the company REALLY well, try to find out as much about the job BEFORE you turn up, talk to local companies and just say you're interested in their kind of work, what does it entail. Have your questions ready to ask THEM in a hardback book. Go through them with a friend. Phone OFF. Be early. If you like it, just simply ask for the job. Smile. PHONE OFF...best wishes Graham
I have an interview for the ice rink I go to as I am a figure skater I have applied for the apprenticeship their im nervous as I have never really had interviews before any advice?
I'm going for an apprenticeship on thursday for a pottery studio assistant job and there's one thing that's making me nervous. I have lip piercings and I don't know if I should take them out or not, I dress professionally of course but I don't want to give off the wrong impression even though I think they look fine. I'm rambling but any help would be greatly appreciated :)
Got a Bricklayer apprenticeship interview next Monday and I've tried to do research on the company and I cannot find a single thing...It doesn't seem to have a website or any information really.
Applying for an apprenticeship, and I'm 16. I am particularly interested in service advisor within the automotive industry, but I am worried still having a potential "youth" appearance may sway somes opinions. Any advice to how to appear perhaps a bit "older" as I am truly dedicated to this path. Regards, Dan
My apprenticeship has asked for a CV. But they've given me 2 questions to answer. So shall I take that CV or make a new one? Please need an answer ASAP. It's tomorrow!!
TheRecruitmentGuy I GOT THE JOB! i start on Monday. he said he liked my CV. can i send my CV to you to read through and give constructive criticism? I barely get interviews (let alone job offers!) so i was wondering if it was my CV that's the problem.
TheRecruitmentGuy It’s to assist the soft play area at a Zoo and yes I have been preparing for the interview, I have had many interviews but just haven’t succeeded as this will be my first ever job if I get this job
Read up on basic first aid, consider health and safety and basic child protection regulations. If in UK, you'll have to get a DBS check carried out. Research. Good luck...oh, take a note pad and decent pen
This is the main reason I don’t think i can be an electrician. I can’t handle the interview. I know that sounds crazy to most people but I’m just a waaaay too nervous person. I never had a job interview in my life. I know I will freak out. My job I have now I never had an interview. (I work with birds. Parrots mostly) it’s a great fun job and I never want to leave it but it’s only 11 an hour. I don’t see any other options. And therapy isn’t working. I guess I’m screwed
Fact;whether you think you are oor not...you are right. If I offered you £100k cash to be able to attend an interview in two months youd find the people to help. Go find an acting coach. make it happen. £100k is 4 years' wages...make it a reality Anthony.
Ok I'm scared I have an interview in an hour at a hairdressers I'm shy and i don't know what to do D: I don't know why but I will feel silly if I bring my cv cos I've already given them one and they will probably ask why I have brought another
Could you please give some advice on the best way to approach electrical companies in order to obtain an interview for an apprenticeship in the first place especially if there are no positions being advertised publicly Thankyou.
Hi Was successful in gaining an interview and now working casual until beginning an electrical apprenticeship in Jan 15. I emailed every electrical company I could find in the yellow pages in my area with a cover letter, and link to my resume and also rang every company in my area. I received 2 work trials and 5 call back after Christmas out of it. Well Worth the effort
I'm going in for my interview today. Just show them that you want to work , you want to learn, and you want to help them build a better company. Do you have electrical training? It would be a big help.
Started apprenticeship 2015 - It did help that I studied the right subjects at school, completed an electrical pre ap course and done work placements in electrical -I emailed my application and resume just at the right time, to the company I am with now. I also wore neat casual (shirt/dark pants) hair cut and shave before interview.
I don't get it. I applied through the government website which doesn't use CV'S (apperently to make it harder) and now I have an interview. Do I still need to bring my CV?
Yes Haffy, some companies do. Sadly the number of NEW apprenticeships offer dropped by 30% in 2017 compared to 2016! Research, make contact with companies and offer YOURSELF as an apprentice, then they can contact GOV.UK to apply for funding.
+XDSlaughterr Depends on the job. In my experience no because with an apprenticeship there looking for young minds who are willing to learn and that they can mould and the older you get the less you can be moulded if you get what I mean.
+Tommy Schofield I agree with Tommy. I'm 23 and I managed to get an apprenticeship with a larger company I feel these company's would rather an older apprentice with prior work experience "in any field of work" but it depends on the company and what they want in an apprentice

HAWKZz stay calm, be kinda happy that you are there and dont worry cus people there will probably be cool about anything u say that is relevant to the thing you will do

A CV (Curriculum Vitæ, which means course of life in Latin) three major differences between CVs and resumes are the length, the purpose and the layout. A resume is a brief summary of your skills and experience over one or two pages, a CV is more detailed and can stretch well beyond two pages. The resume will be tailored to each position whereas the CV will stay put and any changes will be in the cover letter. A CV has a clear chronological order listing the whole career of the individual whereas a resume’s information can be shuffled around to best suit the applicant. I would say the main difference between a resume and a CV is that a CV is intended to be a full record of your career history and a resume is a brief, targeted list of skills and achievements. CV - long, covers your entire career, static Resume - short, no particular format rule, highly customisable
