What is David Bateson's favourite Hitman kill in the series? What makes Hitman endure? And what does David Bateson really think about the game? We had a chat with the man behind Agent 47 and the voice of Hitman.
Well, there's always the 'Hollywood-side' of looking at it. He perfectly fits the SASO approach of Hitman without to much action. But that's not cool enough for Hollywood - and I probably guess David's not the fighting/action guy they need for their expactations.
@@daval1631 i still think with the direction and writing from the John Wick team they could create a decent Hitman movie. i mean that scene in John Wick 1 when he goes to the red circle club. its setup just like a hitman level. with gaurds patrolling, different kills. and he does it all in his suit. with minimal talking.
Would make a perfect Bond villain in my opinion!!! I’d take him over the clown they got in the new movie coming out idk if I can even take that kid serious as the main villain tbh
@@Gencturk92 The great thing about Agent 47 is that you kinda get to choose how you want him to take out his targets. You could do disguises, but you could also do the sneaky sneaky. Then there's going in guns blazing taking out everyone who stands in your way. The versalility is what makes it fun.
They did replace Diana Burnwood though. Back then you could hear her voice in Copenhagen regional trains sometimes :) "If you have any luggage, please remember it when you leave the train. Good luck, 47." :D
@The Doomslayer they changed his voice in splinter cell blacklist, the original was better but doesn't matter because ubisoft wont be making splinter cell anymore
Actually he strikes me more like a chameleon, his voice does have some emotion and enthusiasm throughout the game but you can tell it’s all faked and part of the disguise which is what makes him so terrifying for me. He’ll kill you with kindness and a smile unexpectedly
I do like how it's also quite calm, which can be interpreted as 47, still being mostly a cold assassin, he still has a good side, as shown by him smiling during the very last cutscene.
One of my biggest regrets in this life is not getting to see a Hitman movie starring this guy. He looks like 47 looked like in Absolution right now. Still not too late to make it happen, one can hope.
way long ago I had top comment for bitching about that I thought fox shafted em when I found a video clip of one of the movie shorts(he actually is an actor) he was in; still feel that way, it really disappointed me that IO(although probably through square enix) nearly shafted most the people involved in the games after the movie and kinda started to sell out:(.... I really dunno about how it turned out cause never bothered with the series much after that
tbh there's a lot especially if the game uses facial motion capture to model the characters based off of their VAs. e.g. GTA V, LA Noire, far cry 3, you name it sorry for the bad grammar
Even better your in the house with your date and the lights go out and she shouts "Dad the lights are out can you grab a candle, and he comes in his suit, tie and gloves......
The tv shows completely written already and it’s sounding good basically a political thriller with agent 47 as a ghostly presence taking out targets, they should get him to do it before he gets to old.
@@markdove5930 That's true but it's not because they want to interrupt, it's because in TV they usually have a limited time and a number of scripted questions that they have to ask. It is nonetheless something bad tho.
@@KENI0717 Patient unresponsive. Patient deceased. I am sorry Dr. Laurent. You may come to the operating theatre. 5 minutes later... Good morning gentlemen, surprisingly, your targets are Yuki Yamazaki and the Providence mole, Erich So- *_they are already dead._* *_now give me the pay check._*
Sorry to break your bubble, but fugu kills you in a few minutes, a very painful death, but an effortless one, a better option would be simple knock-out poison...
@@sarcasm-83 for agent 47 this seem like a walk in park not hard as all. Are you actually a fan of hitman franchise?? Maybe you are a new one. Every true fan of hitman franchise knew John Wick will become a dog food if he dare to challenge 47. Agent 47 is in a different level way above Wick. I have seen all three movies of John Wick, good action movie though. Wick maybe unique if you compare him to another action heroes character, but if compare him with 47, he literally not good as all. Everything Wick capable of ( martial arts, excellent marksmanship, non weapons objects kill...) 47 did it for years before John Wick was even exist, and he even did it way better (play hitman absolution if you want to know the aggressive part of 47, I don’t want to explain this over and over again).
@@phuongming2449 Well at least in the movies John Wick is said to be rusty due to having been in retirement. But I honestly didn't say it *that* seriously :) I've played every Hitman except maybe one of the very early ones.. Might've missed the very first one..? Kinda get them mixed up right now. But if I'm not a "true fan" because of my fictitious "vs." suggestion on the internet, I'll accept that.
This is actually a really great interview. IMO, to explore 47's feelings and emotions in a next game (after this trilogy, probably years from now) would be a really great path to choose. We've seen in Hitman 2: SS that he does have feelings and he IS a person, that's what differentiates him from the other clones. How can they build a full game on that idea without deviating from the gameplay style that we've had since 2000 is the real question though...
It's a mix of the assassin and the remains and what he gets back from the world that makes him probably someone who understands the world. You write the world, the targets, the methods of assassination... and then you plant him into that. 47 is more human than more assassins as he can adapt into anything, some probably just would hide in shadows and shoot them between the eyes and that'll be it, and avoid trying to adapt to where they're placed. I do think they need to do a set of 47 solo missions, where he's on his own and he picks up targets and goes alone to them.
@@CooroSnowFox "I do think they need to do a set of 47 solo missions, where he's on his own and he picks up targets and goes alone to them." Freelancer-mode. Coming this Spring to HITMAN 3.
You'd think that, but I'll bet someone with enough time/skill could pull it off. Hell, Charlie Chaplin once got 2nd place in a Charlie Chaplin lookalike contest.
Can David please record my voicemail for me!? Lol I would be pissed if David Bateson wasn’t the voice of 47. I don’t know how they could even fathom a Hitman game without him! He IS 47.
Agent 47's voice is among one of THE most iconic videogame voices of all time. On par with Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid Series and Mario Mario from Super Mario. Like, there's no mistaking him for anyone else. He is just too damn iconic. And i ahve to agree with the idea of having him as the villain in IO's Bond game. He would be such an Amazing villain. Depending on what they're going for. But i have no doubt IO will find a role for him. At this point he is as much as part of IO as the perople making the games etc. So i think just for the sake of having it it makes all the sense in the world to include him in some sense. If maybe only as an easter egg or something. Like how Remedy allways include the Voice actor from Max Payne in their games. Max Payne is allso one of those iconic voices. Now imagine, Solid Snake, Agent 47 and Max Payne having coffee together. How the hell would that conversation go? You got 47 wich is a man of few words. You got Max Payne wich is as Emo as it gets. And then you got Solid Snake wich knows nothing but combat and killing cuz that's literally his life... So i guess he is pretty emo as well.
The way David explained how he sees 47 matches with my understanding of him and his character perfectly. I grew up with his character. Seeing him growing beyond the regular contracts and doing something for another person in Absolution was an absolute highlight for me. Still one of my favorite games.
I cant imagine anyone else but David Bateson playing as Agent 47, and to this day, Blood Money is still my favorite out of all the Htiman Games. I hope in some distance future they make another Hitman Game
@@princesam4401 its the last game in the new trilogy. But it may get picked up again potentially. Or who knows IOI may always go back on it and make another one.
i just love this guy. charming, charismatic, handsome and strangely hilarious! hitman has had a tremendous impact on my life. the character and a voice that has helped me through so much hard times throughout my life. fantastic interview, phenomenal actor and personality. thank you from the bottom of my heart david and wishing all the happiness and success. and what a legendary ending😂🤘
This is the voice of my childhood/youth, all the way up until now, and hopefully even longer. Hitman has always been my go-to franchise ever since "Codename 47" was released. The gameplay and replay value of the games, especially the World of Assassination trilogy, is amazing, and the aforementioned trilogy exceeded all my expectations. And now there's even the VR-mode (janky as it may be) and mods to add even more fun to the games. There's also something quite eerie about hearing the voice of 47 laugh, because you'd NEVER expect 47 to laugh. Ever! And if he did, it probably meant that he had snapped, and then we'd all be fucked. 😅
If there is one person I wish to meet in this life is David Bateson. I've enjoyed every game growing up, It's been a big part of my life gaming. It's the only game I can change within the level my way. I love that!. Also I couldn't see anybody voice being 47 but Bateson*. I wouldn't even think twice of buying a HITMAN game without his voice attached to it. Still working on III, amazing so far...
20 years voicing him. And it grows on you. I really feel like agent 47 is slowly growing a conscience… ok, no, not really. But he substitutes his lack of empathy with knowing what’s wrong and right. He should be proud of his character.
Hello Elias. Thank you for this awesome interview. I've been a big fan of David Bateson since I was a child and to be honest now I love him even more after watching this conversation. 😍 The questions and atmosphere were great and the ending was so creative and funny. You deserve 47,000,000 views, sir.
I've had contact with Mr. Bateson via email. I was upset they didn't cast him in Hitman Absolution because i had been playing Hitman Codename 47, the first one and all of the Hitman games. And they said they didn't even contact him for the role at first. Luckily he got the part for Absolution But i'm so grateful seeing David Bateson still being Hitman 47, it wouldn't have been Hitman 47 without David Bateson :) Thanks
His voice is so good even just normally speaking It’s even better knowing he likes the character and can play the part naturally Also it should go without saying the games are amazing I’ve only played the new hitman 1 and 2 and hopefully 3 one day when I get a new console or good pc But I’ve heard the older ones are just as good
