Interview w/ Rushan Abbas, Uyghur Activist and ex-Guantanamo Bay Translator 

The last time I made a comment on Daniel's show was on this very same topic when he interviewed the young Uyghur activist a few months ago, and as a true victim of a real genocide, I am always very interested in this kind of topic, and I pay close attention to details and evidences to everything and very careful not to misspeak about anything to honor those who have been killed in a genocide like 3 members of my family. As a true victim of a real genocide in Cambodia where approximately 1.7 to 2.5 million Cambodians got slaughtered, killed, or starved to death in slave labor camps and killing fields, and as someone who is a huge fan of the truth; with that said, I am disturbed by Rushan Abbas's inconsistencies and what potential harm she might do to her people. Rushan's accusations are full of speculations, unsubstantiated accounts, and unproven information & false narratives just like the young Uyghur activist that he had on before, and that is dangerous to her cause & people, and I hope she is not profiting from this. As for me, I am NOT making any money from my victimization nor have I ever made a single penny from being a true victim of a real genocide. What separates my tragic story from hers are: I can invite both Rushan, Daniel & any credible international criminal investigator or lawyer of her choice to come with me to Cambodia to see all the evidences of genocide and atrocities like mass graves, Toul Sleng killing camp, countless human remains, interview hundreds of thousands of surviving victims, former Khmer Rouge soldiers, evidences of forced labor in form of still existing dams, canals and irrigation projects that still remain today, and hard evidences of my 3 dead siblings & uncle. My question to Rushan is: Where are your hard evidences and do you care to take up on my offer? Likewise, if China, a country that I've never visited in my life; however, I lately have been doing a lot of research on because according to credible sources like the World Bank and numerous credible Institutions have noted and highlighted that China has lifted nearly 800 millions of their people out of poverty within the past 30 years & rapidly developing into the forefront of global respectability, poverty eradication, rapid social & economic progress and development, and technological advancement. How is that a bad thing to humanity? Also, if 3 millions Uyghurs are indeed being forced into labor camps, slaughtered, and tortured, where are the hard evidences, and why are major countries like Germany, Japan, Russia, France, Canada, United States and the entire world are still doing business and conducting trades with China? Again, Rushan, care to take up on my offer? I can attest to you & Daniel's community channel on RU-vid that I have never made or profited a single penny out of my victimization of a real genocide on the expense of my family or former countrymen-- a genocide that I am truly affected by even still today, I periodically still have nightmares about. And as I mentioned, I have no connection to Daniel nor the Chinese Govt and have never made a single penny from my tragedy and never even been to China. I'm just a part-time teacher & traveler who is forever scared by a real genocide and struggling to get by in life, and I have forgave our oppressors but will never forget. I'm just a truth-seeker and a fan of the truth. (Thank you for your time and forum of discussion on this issue because I never want to see anymore people in this world go through what me & my people went through)

oh mine. Is this what activist is nowadays? Her opening in the show was to criticize Daniel. Not even to introduce herself or deliver her topic and beliefs, the only thing she has been doing through the whole show was to attack Daniel. Wow! Bravo to Daniel that he was so calm and polite!

1. Purpose: She was there to keep echoing the same statement over and over: China genocide. 2. Tactic: Waste time so there's little focus on the real debate. Giving long and unnecessary historic detail (even brought up Nazi, but when fired back on "Never again" in the context of Iraq and WMD diverted once more) 3. Tactic: Race card. Every time Daniel was on a good train of thought, or posed a strong questions she stops it by asking "do you think I a minority woman would..." then continues to divert the question and line of thought. 4. Tactic: Diversion. Often stopped Daniel's line of thought and questioning with her own UNRELATED questions and then diverting the topic. 5. Tactic: Look in the Mirror. She accused Daniel of working for the CPC and making money from it - the people that do this is often of those who do it themselves (and which she is being paid for what she is doing by those Daniel has mentioned). She moves on to say she is only doing what Daniel did. But one is true and another is not. 6. Tactic: Play Ignorant and deny. Daniel presented some solid evidence and she outright denies it. EG she claims her sister is only visiting her own daughters, but denies the simple fact that in doing so she is also visiting her. When Daniel mentioned that if indeed China has retained her sister, then it is her that is putting her sister in such a situation. She again flat out denies it. But think about it logically - why would any country allow a citizen to leave as they please to visit someone casting these accusations against it? The way she manoeuvred away from the direct and obvious questions, the way she stopped Daniel's line of thought (which were solid), and say "I don't have much time", while doing the same herself by over emphasising in unnecessary detail - all of the above tells me: 1. She knows the logic will create holes in her narrative and so, 2. She has been trained and coaxed with these tactics - which are to be used in the above situation when you are on the back foot. Classic tactics.

Jesus all I've got from her is the word "genocide", this woman is beyond crazy.

The lady who had this interview also took an interview with RT, this time she denied she commissioned by the NED. however in this interview she admitted the NED commissioned her. How interesting!

"There's 3M Uyghurs imprisoned and killed in a massive prison camp." "Can we get the evidence? We need hard evidences for such huge alegations." "No, the CCP destroyed all of them, therefore I have no way to provide evidences to you". That's the whole conversation in a nutshell. If that was me, I would have already hung up with that skype call. Daniel has hard nuts patience xDDD.

This woman is funny. When she can not explain the inconsistency of her narrative regarding her sister, she deflect the question by saying "why don't we talk about the genocide". But when she can not either explain her inconsistency regarding the so called "genocide", she deflect the discussion again by saying "why don't we talk about my sister".

"Are you funded by NED?" "Yes" - That is all the reasons.

"I have been living in the US since 1989" basically says it all...

I am a Han Chinese from Xinjiang, I was born and grow up in Xinjiang, now I am living in US for 14 years, based on what I have experienced, I can tell you guys, everything what she said is BS.

She claims that she did not know what happened in her work place (Guantanamo Bay detention camp), at the same time calming she know what has happened thousands kilometers away (XinJiang) … is that interesting?

The truth is, muslims are doing very well in major cities of China. People in multi-ethnic China are pragmatic, believers of Buddhisms, Taoism, Christianity and Islam are equally respected.

1. She left Xinjiang 1989. She never witness herself anything she was talking about, . Either she heard from someone or learned from NED. 2. She finished University in China and her sister is a doctor. Her sister's daughter get married in U.S.A. and her sister visited U.S.A. twice. To me, their family is well off. That tells us Chinese Government put a lot of effort to bring up minority living standard. 3.She worked for Radio Free Asia, and work for U.S.A government in Guantanamo Bay. (She said Uyghurs were treated better inside this prison than in Xinjiang, Ha,Ha,Ha!) Normal people cannot get access into such high security place. Her back ground tells exactly who she is. No other proof needed. Don't expect she will tell the truth.

respect to Daniel. it's really tough to have a logical discussion with this lady..she straight up making stuff up..she was not able to back up her claims with any factual evidence. it's a waste of time to try to have a reasonable talk with people like her.

Hats off to Daniel for remaining patient and calm throughout this entire interaction. Some of the accusations thrown at Daniel by this woman are atrocious, and I believe that Daniel deserves a public apology for the base-less accusations that were made about Daniel by her during this video. I also think that Daniel deserves recognition for keeping this video public in an unedited form despite the fact that it includes horrible accusations against him - it shows that he truly has nothing to hide.

Daniel, I really admire you. Keeping your cool with this obvious propagandist is an amazing feat, to say nothing of maintaining your respectful manner throughout the interview. As an aside, it seems this woman comes from an elitist class and is used to having her own way. I have to say something here. I'm not from China . But I met many minorities people China, and other world countries. I found out that minorities people from China like XinJiang , Mongolia, and Tibet have very interesting special stories. I met them because we worked at shops .. restaurant.. we were like coworker, we talked and got know to each other background. They told me how they crossed mexico , arizona and Texas arrives at California and new York. When they applied for visa status at US, there were lawyers and paid by an organization approach ed them and teach them how to apply visa in US using political asylums . As long as minorities people from China can cook stories how china government abused them like killed family members, forced them to eat pork, all king of stories , the worst the better , so they could use political asylums to get green card and monetary support by several organization.. I met them at California and new York.

Half of my family members are Hui Muslims, and Kunming is my hometown. Hui women dressed up as Uyghur? Ridiculous. My family has been practicing Islam freely, and has gone to Mecca several times. And we NEVER dress up like Uyghur. I’m so disgusted by how she trying to underplay the Kunming attack in 2014, which all of us were hurt deeply. Thank you Daniel for revealing the organization’s agenda behind this lady. She has my sympathy that she is either not intellectual enough to realize she being manipulated, or she chooses to lie in front of human history and humanity.

Also notice something dear readers: Rushan gets emotional at times in this video, but I noticed something: She *never* gets emotional when the topic is about her sister(shouldn´t she be the most emotional over that, *if* her claims are true?). Exactly, she should be but she isn´t, that alone is strange enough. Even stranger is the fact that she *only gets emotional when Daniel debunks the funding and activities of the NED.* Suddenly, she becomes hyper emotional, but only *over the NED, not her sister...* It is obvious that she lies and is a paid NED tr oll.

She is wasting Daniel's time. When she speaks she accused Daniel for all sorts of thing, when she was challenged by the fact that her work was funded by NED, she just went into defensive mode by accusing Daniel back. The population of Xinjiang is over 20 million, and Uyghur's population is 12 million, she claimed there were more than 3 million Uyghurs in concentration camps, that would be 1 out of 4 Uyghurs in Xinjiang. Imagine what kind of social chaos it will create in Xinjiang if that is true. She said the Uyghurs were repressed by the China Government, but as a minority and a female muslims, she had the chance to attend and graduated in the University in 1980s. These NED funded people will continue their lies and slanders while China continue to develops, as a Uyghur proverb goes, "The camel marches while the dog keeps on barking."

I think the Uighurs are much happier and wealthier in China than the people in Kirghiztan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tazikstan and Uzbekistan. Many kirghiz, Tajiks and Uzbeks work in Russia as migrant labourers, taxi drivers, cooks, waiters etc. Uighurs can take advantage of China good infrastructure, fast internet and training provided to have good careers and businesses.

I believe that after this interview, NED is going to reduce the funding to this lady. She did so poorly in this interview. I don’t think she wants to do another interview with Daniel, I don’t think she enjoyed this interview as she said at the end.

Hi, Daniel. I am a guy living in Montreal canada. There is an Uighur boy from xinjiang worked for me. He is very nice kid. One day I asked him how was his immigration process going. Usually in Quebec, they need to get the diploma and pass some French test first, then you qualified to apply the immigration. He told me he is different. He applied for the refugee program, and he doesn’t need any of those conditions. Even he said he applied in Ontario instead of Quebec, because it will take much shorter time. I was shocked and I knew he used this concentrate camp BS as an excuse. I knew he came from a wealthy family, because I saw those photos from his wechat. He is definitely not the one try to escape from any trouble or any threat, but he still use this western system as a tool to get a short pass, but on the other hand, these western politics will use him as a weapon or so called ‘fact’ to attack China. I don’t want judge anyone, and again he is a good kid and I like him, but this is sad story for me. Sooner he will get his Canadian passport, but it based on what? A lie? I don’t know he will be regret on what he did today or he will became this lady to tell more lies to make himself to believe he made the right choice at that time.

Although I think it is admirable trying to expose Rushan Abbas, I'm not entirely convinced that it was really worth your time. She is incredibly disrespectful in the way she tried to discredit you, everyone works and you are self-employed as a small business owner. I read her profile on Wikipedia and apparently she is educated. I could not detect any education in her approach to you and information. She did come across as trained in unsophisticated propaganda intended to target people who lack critical thinking, listening and reading skills. Sadly the lack of these skills seems to affect a large portion of the population in the west and I suspect most countries; alternatively it could just be that people don't ask basic questions and have not studied propaganda from the past, people may simply be too lazy or too busy, likely both. I generally agree with the sound Chinese government policy of not giving terrorist a voice since the only purpose of terrorism is to gain a voice through mass media. I consider Rushan Abbas a terrrorist and she should not be given a voice, she belongs in an "oubliette".

Until this year I visited Urumqi yearly for the last 5 years. The same shops, run by the same Uighur people, are there year after year. I saw the Uighurs dancing with the Han Chinese in the People's Park. I guess I missed the genocide.

Well done Daniel, although she spent 80% of the time talking, she did absolutely nothing to strengthen her argument apart from repeating non-substantiated talking points. The winning strike is getting her to say "It doesn't mean it didn't happen even though there is no evidence." Later on during the interview you asked her to admit your "never again" was also very effective. Another score was achieved through making her singing the praise of NED etc. The focal point of this debate is evidence, and her weakest points are the numbers she quoted, attacking relentlessly on these issues is the best strategy to expose her.

Daniel, I strongly disagree the way you interview Uyghur Activist. You should have invite people on the side too, and ask them both questions and control the talk. Otherwise, it is just give those separatist to propaganda and spread rumors. It will not help people understand the situation in Xinjiang.

I really appreciate that Daniel is willing to bring these folks on and let them say their piece. I think Daniel and I share a level of skepticism regarding these claims and it's very easy just to say they are liars and move on. It takes a lot of courage for Daniel to host them and it takes a fair bit of courage for those guests to come on Daniel's show. Fortunately Daniel treats them with respect (sometimes more than they deserve).

Thank you so much for doing this. The friendly atmosphere was thrown down to the drain by Abbas's strong and defensive words from the begining, then set on fire by her deflection and resufel to speak logically and provide evidence, but you kept your cool. Hats off Daniel.

I have said this on several forums because it is something that I can speak about from my own personal experience. I have traveled extensively in China and one thing that I have noticed. Practically every town, city, county, or prefecture from north to south or east to west in Mainland China has a small community of Muslim people, usually from the Xinjiang or Gansu Provinces. It is usually very easy to find one or more "qingzhen" 清真 restaurants within the neighbourhood. The restaurants are mostly small and serve typical muslim dishes most notably Lanzhou La Mian 兰州拉面 or mutton based recipes. These restaurants are often among the most popular. The muslims that operate the restaurants observe their own culture, when speaking together use their own Turkic languages, they wear traditional muslim clothing and the walls of the restaurants are usually adorned with pictures or decorations drawn from their own cultural background. They also observe non alcohol and halal practices. I like the food and I guarantee that I have personally visited many, many of these restaurants sometimes on a multiple basis. I can only speak from my own personal experience but I have never seen anything to suggest that these people are oppressed or even treated with disdain. On the contrary, they seem to be well received and accepted within the communities that they operate. I have spoken to many of them and they are friendly people. They do not come across as unhappy. In my opinion, any comparison with a "Jew" type persecution is far from the mark.
