Interview with Barbara Goodish (Bruiser Brody's Widow)
Devon Nicholson of "The HANNIBAL TV" interviews Barbara Goodish who is the widow of the legendary Frank "Bruiser Brody" Goodish and the author of "Brody - The Triumph and Tragedy of Wrestling's Rebel." Goodish discusses how she met her husband, what his favorite matches were, what his work out regiment was like, his friends in the business, why she never sued WWC Puerto Rico or it's owner Carlos Colon for the companies involvement in the 1988 stabbing incident by their booker Jose Gonzalez aka Invader #1 in their companies dressing room and more!

I'm 44 yrs old now. My first wrestling event was when I was ...not sure. 9yrs old maybe. The main event was Harley Race vs Dusty Rhodes.. Rhodes missed the show. The announcer that night let the crowd pick who is going to wrestle/fight harley race. OMG!!! The crowd, including me, said BRODY BRODY, BRODY!! The whole match lasted 2 seconds in the ring. 99% was brody and race bashing each other with the ring bell and chairs. 35 yrs later I'm still remembering that night.

It's a shame Vince takes up for the murderers, instead of the victim, bc a Brody doc on the network would get a lot of eyes on the Legend & his story. Carlos sold Vince the WCW PR library & helps him promote in PR tho smh. Stone Cold said the Network doesn't need a Brody doc, bc the "business moved past Brody, & most fans don't even know who is nowadays" smh The disrespect never stops, from that company.

I'm Puerto Rican and I remember that tragic day. For many years I only knew what I read from the local pres back in those days, I only knew one side of the story BUT... since I watching this and other channels my whole perspective has changed. Today I feel ashamed, disgusted and sad like never before. I want to apologise to his widow for this injustice from our court system. Right now I wish I could bury my head in the sand. @@armandogarza3423 The defense attorney pushed the narrative that Brody was an out of control, drug addict, who couldn't be reasoned with & bc of his size, Jose had no choice, but to use a knife. It makes no sense, whatsoever, but most people didn't have context bc the media coverage was very one sided. Atlas & Dutch, were supposed to testify for the prosecution, but Dutch got his court summons a day after the trial ended & Atlas, who was the main witness, conveniently never received his at all. The whole thing was a ish show. The more you learn about this case, the more infuriating it is. Jose didn't only leave the building, right after he stabbed Brody, presumably to dump the knife that's never been found, but he also wrestled that same night!! Smh

@joshijoshi7105 3 года назад
@@sese6227 you do know that atlas also wrestled that night after leaving Brodie in the hospital...I would of stayed with Brodie in the hospital period...this whole story is shady and a lot more happened that no one will never know......or do you think that people that were involved are gonna confess and go to jail...I don’t think so......colon I think knew everything but wasn’t involved..remember that he made a lot of money specially with all the great wrestlers coming from the states ...after Brodie’s death wrestling started falling off big time in PR...if colon ever opens he’s mouth he’s a done man(and he knows)everybody seems to know what happened this and that but nobody tried reopening case or did nothing about it...in my opinion invader and a few other wrestlers including ones from the states were involved....but...invader was innocent in the court of law ....

In the sea of shoot videos featuring bloviating men with petty grudges and titillating secrets to spill, this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. Not only is Mrs. Goodish polite and articulate, she resists profanity and shouting. Hannibal could reinvigorate the stale medium of the shoot video with this concept of interviewing wrestler's wives! I'd bet there are a lot of widows from the 60s-now still living. I'd enjoy hearing how KAYFABE shaped their lives, how stigmas about wrestling influenced their kids school life, etc....

Kathleen G No you are stupid, Hannibal does a great job, but NO ONE hides or is in conspiracy on the Brody tragedy. You think I am hurt because a no one insult a nation? Well it only shows you are stupid. You call puertoricans ugly but we have in Miss universe, 5 winners, 7 runner-ups, 6 finalists and 2 semi-finalists. With 5 wins, Puerto Rico is the third country with the most wins behind USA (8 wins) and Venezuela (7 wins). In killers US is WAY up front in the charts.
@joseandujar2164
@joseandujar2164 7 лет назад
Kathleen G I meant, none of the public. And that is way you are stupid, it is not a "ALL people" conspiracy. Of course Colon will not mention it. Murder is a crime with no date limitation, so if new evidence is "real" the case will re open, and "some" people, namely Colon, Gonzales will rather no new info out there. In my case like a LOT of people out there will like a clear resolution to the case. But do to the time and conflicting accounts is very unlikely to ever happened. So.....don't be a asshole to the people who had nothing to do whit it and be lovely to the world.

Kathleen G So???? You start the cycle again. If I am not wrong your cycle is: 1) Confuse every puertorican with Colon, Gonzales and think every one is connected to them. 2) Talk trash about Puerto Rico and his people. 3) Insult and spill racial "slang" 4) Mention the widow and his son. 5) Mention what ever grammar error and mock language. 6) Bring up God and religion at your favor. So, next post must be 5 again because you add 1,2,3,4 and 6 into one. Wao impressive you out done your self.

The Bourbon and Beefstake she mentioned was a great all night multi level venue that could of told many a tale of brawling and debauchery in Sydney's famed Kings Cross area. Bruiser Brody was wrestling in Australia around 1978 (just before it all unfortunately finished up) with people like Ox Baker, King Curtis, Bulldog Brower, Bugsy McGraw, Killer Karl Krupp, Butcher Branigan, Brute Bernard, Ali Vaseri( Iron Sheik?) occasionally Andre the Giant and champion Harley Race. Waldo Von Erich and locals such as Mario Milano, Ron Miller, Les Roberts and Larry O'dea. Brody was amazing and as a kid we were in awe of him! Enjoyed the book as well.

Bullying is misconstrued and vilified by people who are afraid of the painful reality of living in the real world. I've been bullied and brutally assaulted in my teenage years and I didn't seek revenge or murder my assailants. Professional wrestlers are built for violent action. As far as Jose Gonzales heinous crime is concerned, professional wrestling is def. not his calling in life. It's true that you should refrain from bullying a person who is too weak, too soft to endure the physical harm incurred by bullying because of the potential traumatic effects. Remember that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

I was never familiar with Brody. But I knew the Bezerker. And i see how John Nord Bezerketr/Viking character took Brodys stuff. The HUSSSSSSS HUSSSSSSSS HUSSSSSS. And the holding his wrist with palm of hand out. Thats what Brody did in the video of Brody VS Invader.

bruiser was loved by almost all of the wrestlers; he helped a lot of them; he HATED the owners of the territories.

He respected Sam Muchnick and Paul Boesch, always spoke well of them and worked for them pretty much whenever they asked. I believe him and Barnett got on pretty good too all in all, and he was happy to work for Sr. as long as the money was right too. He couldn't stand Gulas, Watts, or Jarrett though, and definitely wasn't out to make any promoter rich without getting his respect and what he thought was fair to him out of the deal. I wouldn't say he hated most of them, but he thought better than to trust most of the guys on the office side of wrestling. Which is wise, given what a pack of duplicitous, glad handing, fast talking, hustling ass carny shysters many of them were, haha!

When I was a kid there was “Houston Wrestling”, Sunday mornings on tv. Jose Lathario, Mil Mascreas, Wahoo McDaniel, Gino Hernandez, Rocky Johnson (the Rocks dad), Jimmy Snuuka, etc. I thought Bruiser Brody was the biggest baddest wrestler ever. We went to the Sam Houston Colosseum in Houston to watch wrestling. Ivan Putski came out of the dressing room and I handed him my program to sign. He tore it in half and gave it back to me without looking at me. The official time keeper came over the speaker every so often “ FIVE MINUTES “.

When will they make a movie about Bruiser Brody? Some people have said that Jason Momoa would be ideal to play the part of him in a movie of his life.

She seems to be a great person....i am sorry she and her kid had to go thru all of that... She should have sue them all... The whole thing is BS..... Unfortunately there's too much corruption in PR.. in the courts in the government. Everywhere... This guy should have been put into prison for the rest of his life ..

I am from Puerto Rico. Invader should be accused and prosecuted. Justice is long overdue. All my respect to Brody and his family. He made a great contribution to the development and popularity of wrestling on the island.

Heads up, fuckers!!! The VICE channel (subsidiary of HBO) came to Austin last week to interview my bud Geoff Goodish and they also flew in his mom Barbara. So keep an eye out for their coverage of Bruiser's murder and legacy! (I don't know if it will be part of their regular series or a special documentary...) Reply
