You gotta give credit to his mom and dad, warts and all: they raised a really lovely young man, war, polite, funny, quick-witted, respectful; there's not much more a parent could expect.
Such a polite intelligent confident person....really brought up well by his family...never cussed... Awesome how clean cut and spiritual n intuitive he is.... Many years in advance... Predicting victories and rounds of knockouts etc... He really understood the boxing business...uncanny.. I liked him the best talking boxing... N .. Ali could eat you out of house n home... He loved his food lol!
His persona and charisma are exceptional. He gives explicit credence to independent mindedness by saying it the way he feels and imagines, without fear or favour and in the beauty of extreme confidence and conviction. What a legend
I've always admired him. This interview showed yet another side which you captured well in words. He listens well, and answers more directly and specifically than anybody.
Muhammad Ali making predictions about Sonny Liston nearly 2 years before it actually happened. And 4 years before he knocked out Cleveland Williams in 3 round.
The Cleveland Williams prediction was chilling! This was 2 years even before he was shot. In 1962 Cleveland Williams was a monster power-puncher having beat Ernie Terrell, Alonzo Johnson amongst other top fighters. It's crazy to see how he can envision, predict and manifest it into reality. Like how Conor Mcgregor is doing now.
Dawud Bryant Ali also wasn't always right with his predictions...like the first Joe Frazier fight...where he said if he loses to Joe he will get on his knees and declare Joe Frazier the greatest of all time
Wow! What an extremely insightful look into the mindset of a future world champion! Thank you so much for sharing this. Learned a lot more about the legend here and his early years!
Muhammad, You have been one of the three Roll models for my whole life. I will never forget the night I answered the phone, and it was YOU, asking for my Father-in-law. I knew from your first word it was YOU! My first word to YOU was "CHAMP" "I'd know your voice in a storm" You said "Thank You"! That one little "Thank You" Made the rest of my life! YOU Gave me the Confidence to stand up to all Life could Throw at me. Withering right hands, one after the other, "ALL NIGHT LONG" But I'll NEVER FORGET , "TWEEN THE ELBOWS!"
I think that in order to get fast and strong you need to want to eat a lot in order to have the energy to do lots of training. A lot of early English boxers had low hands as do the newer English boxers from the Ingle gym, who also may have based themselves partly on Ali and partly on early English boxers.
45:40 Marciano didn't retire early because he saw younger and better fighters coming up. He cleared out his division too quickly and ran out of top opposition to keep him fighting more often than just twice a year. Without a lot of opponents, he was getting ring rust and overtraining, so it just wasn't worth it to stay in. Plus, he trained away from his family for his championship fights. He'd sleep for 10 hours a night, do his roadwork in the morning, nap for 3 hours, do the rest of his training routine, and then nap another 3 hours for dinner. That's a lot to sacrifice, but he wouldn't do any less. No point in sticking around for a bum of the month club with that lifestyle.
He sounds like agony from dragon ball z lol. He said he eats before he fight and get mad because he’s hungry again so he’s trying to finish the fight sooner
@@hippy1002 They are on the same level except for Rocky. Ali's resume and skill is far better. Rocky's still one of the greatest of all times don't get me wrong
Yes and it even sounds like him. As far as I can find, he was transferred from the Los Angeles County Jail to the United States Penitentiary at McNeil Island in 1961. I personally don't believe he was out of jail in 1962, let alone being able to access a telephone when in jail.
This is when he was the greatest when he was in his 20's once he became Muhammad Ali later on he started taking unnecessary punishment Clay was the greatest ali was more popular and took punishment
