I am so excited to see Magnus in maybe season 3 or 4 when we get Lestat's story. He'll be onscreen for a short time, but I'm really looking forward to it. I wonder how they'll represent his inhuman movements and physicality, or what their take on him will be.

i dont understand why people cant let non book readers stay in their suspicion before we see it for ourselves in the show. ( i don't know if reel-time minds) but i think its weird how often people spoil/confirm things before this version of the story confirms it. if i didn't know it to be true i would also question what his true backstory was exactly.

​@@ameliacraiig4193I don't think Lestat wanted to kill Louise. If you read the books, you'll see that Lestat legitimately loves Louise, and would never kill him. I even doubt the reliability of Louise recollection of him being beaten by Lestat. I won't mention it in this videos comment section, but he is not exactly a reliable narrator.

Although I've gathered he's not a reliable narrator from the shows clues, (haven't read the books), I won't be quick to dismiss Louis' victim-abuse accounts as totally made up, until the show tells me definitively that he lied about Lestat's assaults.

@@ameliacraiig4193 I'm not sure where the show is going with it, but Louise may not necessarily be lying about the abuse, just not accurately remembering what happened, maybe because of Armands influence. His account may be accurate though.

Yeah, the writing in this show is exceptional! I love how they used history as a metaphorical background. WW1 was going on while Louis was going through his turmoil, the Roaring 20's just started when they were having fun with Claudia, then The Depression when she left . . .and now she's back and WW2 is about to begin.

That 'Memory Is A Monster' teaser for Season 2 was one of the best I've seen all year!

I wondered about that detail... Lestat discovered the bodies in the dungeon AFTER he was turned (which is horrific enough!), but he was never locked in a dungeon cell. He was kidnapped and brought to a tower room with a straw bed, was given food and wine, and he was only there a short time before being made a vampire. Yes, okay, he was turned against his will and became a creature of the night without a maker to mentor him (the trauma, the abandonment yadda yadda yadda 😂), but it's arguably a lot better than what the other blonde haired, blue eyed boys got. In this episode he said he was imprisoned with them before he was turned. It could be that he is misremembering, or they slightly altered it for the script... OR Lestat is slightly massaging the details to evoke the most sympathy from Louis. 😂 I can't wait to see how Magnus appears onscreen. I listened to The Vampire Lestat audiobook a while ago before bed, and the descriptions of his white, mask-like face with his gummy mouth (with fangs), and his animal physicality are scary enough, but "Wolffffkillllleerrrrr" nearly made me wet myself with fright. 😅 I hope they get an older actor with maybe a dance background to play him who can get his inhuman movements right.

Well, it is 2024 and most straight people have no issue with gay representation in any sense. Fiction or reality. To most of us, Louis and Lestat are just another entertaining dramatic couple. Their toxic attraction is more pertinent than their sexual preference. One of the best things about this show is that beside a few references, their gayness is not a major issue for their characters. It's not focused on them 'discovering' anything or 'coming out'. Them being gay is not the focus of the show. Their toxic relationship is.

Ah, but the movie would totally spoil major plot points of Season 2. I think they should wait until after S2. Then after that, the only spoilers will be from the books. (I'm not even gonna mention the movie 'Queen of the Damned'). I'm so excited to see the book 'The Vampire Lestat' start to make its' way into the series.

@@ShawnaBrooks But they know nothing about the book. Season 1 is the first half of the book. Season 2 will be the second half of the book. The MOVIE covers the ENTIRE book. They didn't even know who Claudia was. And they have no idea who Armand is, yet. If they watched the movie they would know everything that will happen in Season 2!

I kinda do too, but you can tell it's a tiring schedule for them. They're yawning and stretching a lot. Plus they probably all have 'real' jobs. I think Bryce is actually a lawyer.

I agree with you about the humanity part, but I think the reason book readers love Lestat is because they know Louis version of events is a bit skewed in the first book, and they know Lestat isn't as evil as he's made out to be. Everybody loves an anti-hero

@@kylethompson3008 I feel you on this, I do-- i'm still reading the books. However, idk if you've seen it in the interviews done so far, Sam, Jacob, and the writers have said that Louis' memory issues are by no means going to delegitimize him as a victim. And I think too, Lestat's victimhood under Magnus and the other vampires and his family really make a lot of narrative sense and has more profundity bc of their story-telling choices in the show bc often it's the people who are hurting nad unhealed who create hurt unintentionally or otherwise for the people they love most. I think even IRL extreme trauma/grief and even not exremely traumatic relationships, there are multiple sides to everything, and how one interprets what's going on is different from an outsider's perspective. I have no doubt that Lestat definitely doesn't intend to be awful-- in fact I think he has a very big heart and everything he does he believes is coming from a good place, but even good intentions can be harmful if one person isn't listening to the other or deciding for that person that they can't handle certain information. I think that's the biggest thing-- Louis and Lestat both do that, and are thereby awful at communicating their feelings and talking about hard stuff. In my fanfiction for them which I set in like 2025 they're back together, and for the first time ever, they're really talking and listening to each other about their different experiences in the human world and the vampire world-- Lestat opening up about his powers instead of being afraid it will alienate Louis and make him feel inferior (what was definitely an example of a good intention, but still not great for maintaining trust and still an over-his-head executive decision), and Louis talking about his connections to humanity and emotional investment in seeing a better future for the disenfranchised, and how it's not silly just bc he's a vampire now, etc. I think in the show especially he doesn't really explain his feelings of love and grief and anger for humanity to Lestat or what it means to be a Black man in his time and place (another example of poor communication) bc he's afraid of not seeming onboard and invested in their relationship as vampires. So much goes on under the surface that I would love to explore in S2 and S3 (the latter of which I hear is going to be very Lestat POV centered, which I'm excited about). Anyway thanks for ur comment. Like I said, I love Lestat and am v interested to see his version of events. I have so much faith in him becoming a much kinder and more healed version of himself as the story progresses. Sam plays him beautifully.

Just to add to your point, cause I constantly see people bringing up Jacob's interviews where he talks about Loustat being endgame (which is canon and is something I'm fine with cause I love them together) but I never see anyone talking about how he has also explicitly said this adaptation was written with the intention of tackling these themes with care, is something that I think a lot of people who watch this show want to ignore, anyway here's an excerpt from an interview from 2022 with an outlet called Spokesman: "Q: How does the new adaptation of “Interview” handle race differently? A: Louis’s race changes the trajectory slightly of that character, and whilst we’ve kept a lot of the main story beats of that character, those things mean something slightly different when you put a Black man in the center of it. It says something new about power and what power can buy you. Can you buy your way out of the social and racial dynamic of this country? Can you really escape racism by being a monster? Q: Let’s talk love. Louis and Lestat’s romance and the power dynamic between them gets distorted through the lens of race as well. As a white man (and a centuries-old vampire), Lestat can never fully understand his Black lover’s existence. It’s one of the first fractures between them. A: That’s something that comes up a lot in interracial relationships. There’s the fantasy of a post-racial world that we don’t exist in yet. I can’t speak entirely for white people generally, but it’s hard to understand because if you love somebody, you’re not different. You are in love with each other, so how could there be any difference (between the two of you)? But from the other side, it’s, “I need you to understand that there are things that are going to be different for me.” And if you deny that experience, then I just feel crazy, right? I feel like I’m imagining things. Lestat is definitely not willing (to engage in that conversation). He can’t quite go there because to him everything is everything and everything is nothing."

Lestat is a vampire, and all vampires in the VC are violent it’s in their nature even when they try not to be. They can and will do things that humans find horrible or inexcusable. However, Anne Rice’s vampires are more complex than just being labeled as abusive.

Well the people like myself that made the books best sellers want the show. And, people that didn’t read the books, but still love the show, want the show. Perhaps you should read all 13 books before you go spouting off about woke garbage. Fun fact - Interview With The Vampire been woke since 1976.
