I finally had the opportunity to begin watching the new Interview with the Vampire series (based on Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles) on AMC! I was nervous going into this, having been a long time fan of the books and knowing there were some significant changes with this adaptation. That being said, the first episode surpassed my expectations and I'm really looking forward to watching the rest! Great reaction. Most people forget that Anne herself worked with these people who made this. And her Son also is an executive producer. This has Anne's fingerprints all over it. Like her reworking of Lestat from 1st book to second. This series gave her the chance to combine all the books. To retell the story as a cohesive unit instead of the evolving story a series of books automatically have, because of the time it takes to write and release each one. Anne was looking for someone to take her work and transform it into a cohesive story and a modern one. This series is all I could ever want for the chronicles. I hope they get the chance to tell them all. You are a great reviewer. Please do full length reactions to these episodes. Thanks for all your efforts.

@@dominicaudy8479 Sorry not true. Anne died while they were filming. The casting and the scripts were done. You do not film with out either. The story you tell is more like the Paramount saga. In 2018 she went to Paramount to have series made. It was a done deal and then Anne pulled out and went to AMC. I heard the show runners state that Anne was involved in the series. Again the distance was at Paramount. I also have heard comments that all the decisions on this series were pushed by her Son. He is being blamed for all the extra "Gay" content and all the other changed. So I guess Anne and Christopher were both not involved and wholly responsible for the series at same time. Who really knows. i believe Actors and Show runners in the interviews they gave, that they are working on Anne"s version of what she wanted.

I first read the books in my 20s (I'm 50) and most recently only a year or two ago. I'm 6 out of 7 episodes in, and I cannot wait for the finale! Lestat really feels like Lestat, Louis really feels like Louis... and the heart of the story is there, regardless of changes to setting or timeline. What I love most is that I only learned a couple of days ago about Anne Rice's involvement, yet these interpretations still felt true to me from episode 1.

Oh my goodness - Lestat (Sam Reid) has a way of drawing you into his telling of Lestat. I found myself being drawn in and when Louis (Jacob Anderson) told his story it just makes your heart feel... I'm almost done and my goodness - Anne Rice would be proud... This is a long way from Tom and Brad, for sure...

the girl who plays Claudia is soo good, even tho she is aged up it works better simply because writing her any younger makes some of the subject matter they go into really distasteful and there isn't a narritive reason that's worth taking there.. the family dynamic really dosent come full circle til Claudia enters the picture imo. she is the glue that held them together, and will eventually (most likely im assuming) tear them apart.

Nice review! And I love the series. And totally agree about the charming predator aspect of Lestat. I love the romantic-sinister duality of the start of their relationship. Lestat is wooing and courting Louis and also systematically isolating Louis by removing his other human connections. Even assuming Paul’s death was just a convenient happenstance, the removal of Lily and the priest Louis trusted were deliberate.

As a long time book fan I was initially against the changes, they just sounded so drastic…but I am happy to report that the gist of what makes this story so compelling is intact, even if the changes are making my head spin at how they’ll deal with them for future book adaptations. In any case. Love the books, but also very much enjoying the series. Jacob Anderson is fantastic as Louis, and Sam Reid is like book Lestat walked off the pages and into the tv! Fantastic all around, and can’t wait for more…”I want more!” ;-)

I love watching book fans watching this. The show is SO good. This Louis is actually a character in this version (Jacob Anderson is amazing) and Sam Reid basically is Lestat like he literally stepped out of the book. Bailey Bass is also phenomenal as Claudia. She does a really convincing job of "aging" from a 14 year old to an actual adult.

I'm loving this show....I read the books over 30 yrs ago and loved most. This series so far has proven itself, of course Anne and her son were involved so the changes are valid to the growth of her storytelling.

@@MollyBeeReacts Don't be too pleased, I don't think they very much approved of any changes, but sold the rights anyway. That's why the project changed showrunners and networks so much.. They were not easy to work with I guess. Chris Rice still has an Executvie Producer credit, but every time somebody asks him about the show on Twitter he reacts a bit passive aggressively that he has no comment.

@@MollyBeeReacts Right? Correcting a musical production by murder... both hubbies love killing but one enjoys it more and that creates friction... Bryan Fuller is not part of this series, but he was developing a version of the show a few years ago before him and the Rices fell out. I wonder if some of his version's DNA is still in this.

📍Lestat stalked Louis, manipulated his thoughts, did vampire telepathy, murdered people, and more to get with Louis... Louis counted that 3-Some as a one night stand and didn't plan on going back, but Lestat was not going to stop until he had him! (so really Louis was forced in the relationship under duress.)

I've read 7 of the chronicles and felt just like you going in. Intrigued but nervous they would f**k it up. But pleasantly surprised!! You are gonna love some of the easter eggs they add in the season. Loved the reaction can't wait till you're caught up. All the performances are amazing! This vampire lestat is more sinister & unhinged imo. The actor Sam Reid can actually sing and was a big fan of the books. The actor is seriously talented af! Imo he is indeed the brat prince.

What’s understated is how much Louis suspected before Lestat revealed his true nature and wasn’t put off. Now I’m not at ALL saying that Lestat isn’t every bit the predator but I certainly feel Louis’s eyeballs were more open to the true nature of his love than on the novels and n nearly as pouty about it, he had some agency

Yeah there's a current chucky series but if you're thinking of watching you have to see the films first or you'll be lost haha 😄 CP2 and 3 are still serious chucky with one liners then he gets a little sillier then darker again and the series is like a mix of both. Halloween the recent trilogy from blumhouse is but another timeline. The first is h1,h2, h4,h5 and he also known as the thorn trilogy 4,5 and 6. Then you have h1,h2,h20 and Resurrection timeline and then the blumhouse timeline which is h1,h2018,kills and ends. There's also the rob zombie films but thsts a differen universe vision all together his is more grounded and not supernatural at all. Also hope you're doing well and had a Happy Halloween Molly!😊😁
