Claudia's behavior wasn't teenage angst. Claudia was angry because she was a full grown woman who still had the body of a preteen. Remember 30 plus years had gone by since she turned into a vampire. She would be in her late 30s, early 40s. Which is why she spoke with such maturity as the movie progressed

Exactly. People seem to either not hear the part where Louis mentions 30 years had passed yet she remained in the body of an eternal child or they simply forget.

Lestat chose Louis because he reminded him of his deceased boyfriend. He said so in the book. And Claudia in the book was actually 5 years old when they turned her. Anne Rice wrote her based on her little daughter, that she has lost to leukemia at that age.

Yes, "they" (the victims) "like" it. Part of the vampire mythos is that they have strong psychic powers, so they can use a kind of hypnosis or mind control to make their victims feel attracted to them, be submissive, feel no pain etc... It's not hard, unbreakable mind control, so someone on their guard with a strong will can resist it, which is why the vampires still have to choose their victims with care, be seductive, "set the scene" etc... This sexy/scary submission/domination vibe is one of the things that makes the vampire genre sexy for lots of people.

I can watch this movie any amounts of times, and it is still just as powerful. None of it has diminished over the years, quite the opposite this movie now is more powerful than ever. Great reaction! Anne Rice was something else in story-telling, daring to be adult in a universe of children stories of vampires. It is so well made too... And the cast! The CAST! Excellent in every way. Also in the midst of the Grunge era of the 90's, everybody had long hair (even Tom Cruise), and it plays in well with the vampires and the romanticism of it all. Out of all the actors in this movie, I think only Brad still likes to sport long hair these days, but then again he - like Antonio Banderas - always loved having long hair. It just fits so well. I love this take of the Anne Rice universe.

Ladies, I don't know if you'll see this suggestion but there is an award winning film that never gets reactions and that is Thelma And Louise from 1991. It won best screenplay, and both Gina Davis and Susan Sarandon won awards for their performances., Ridley Scott got a nomination for best director and it basically launched Brad Pitt's career. It's an amazing film, hilarious and tragic. Check out the original non-spoiler trailer.

The problem I have with Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher is that the author very clearly describes Jack Reacher in all his books as this big bear of a man and 5'7'' Tom Cruise is definitely NOT that. Even in the movie they can't hide it when the detective goes to the motel Tom Cruise is staying and asks the receptionist if she's seen a guy who looks like he can crush another man's skull with his bare hand the receptionists says 'Oh, you want the guy in room (I forget the room number) but you get the point.

Kirsten Dunst was the stand out in my opinion. I know Tom Cruise is a great actor and Brad Pitt can be too but doing her role at such a young age, she was great. This is one of those movies that do the eroticism and horror theme mixed well, which defines vampires to me. None of the cringe Twilight bs. Bram Stoker's Dracula is the only vampire movie I like more because it was more erotic-horror and showed a girthier set of vampire abilities from Dracula.

Eroticism and death are pretty much 2 of the main themes of Romanticism movement in literature of end of 1700 throughout 1800. Given romantic these days is mostly associated with love and eroticism people keep forget the death part of that movement. It involved a bit of melodramatic cases like duels ro the death, tragic love, eternal love not even death could divide and yes it is the timeframe of that movement where vampire literature got bloomed. Starting initially with revenant poems in Germany around 1700 then 1830 The Vampyre a story where main character shows up in Britain disguised as a noble written by a friend of Lord Byron and the Shelleys (Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein) , meanwhile some poems like Christobal by Coleridge aluded to vampiric lore then 1890 Bram Stoker seen some exhibits in British museum about Vlad the Impaler ruler of Vallachia and used the legends from Romania that his cruel punishments and terror tactics employed in his guerrilla warfare against Turk invaders kept him active after death, undying and able transform in wolves and big black birds and drink blood combining them with the vampire bats discovered in New World and gave ability change to bats in his novel Dracula. The rest is history when movie adaptations started.

This is why Armon tells Louie it's forbidden to make child vampires. Because they'll never change, Claudia was a child when she turned but, so physically she will remain that way. In the second book it is known why Lestat chose Loui, it was because of his resemblance to his first love: Nicholas Lefrent I believe, while Lestat was the youngest son of a nobleman, Nocholas was the son of a prosperous merchant, but he wanted to dedicate himself to music. The point is that Lestat was turned into a vampire, he turned Nicholas, but his mind could not resist the conversion, he went into depression and ended up committing suicide... but both physically, as well as in attitude and personality, Loui was very similar to Nicholas, the same air of melancholy. and no, Armand did not make Lestat, but he was made by an older vampire, one of the so-called sons of the millennium, and that Vampire met Lestat - who is not a son of the millennium, he just stumbled upon the secret and was protected by the vampire queen -, and they are among the few who share and keep the secret of those who must be guarded, that is what they call the primal parents of all vampires, the king and queen: Akasha and Enkil. If something happens to them, all vampires die, so they must be cared for and guarded. Lestat always gives the option to choose whether they are converted or not, because he was not given that option, he was kidnapped from the bedroom of his house, taken to the lair of a vampire who had gone mad - but was extremely rich -, and converted. against your will. Since then Lestat could be as crazy and irreverent and rule-breaking as you want, but he didn't cross that line... until David, but that's another story, and David was already over 80 years old I think, he had lived his life and his spirit possessed the body of a young man about 25 years old with brain death... that body was the one that Lestat turned into a vampire Seriously, read Abbe Rice's books, my favorite besides chronicles is, of course, the Mayfair Witches and the Jesus of Nazareth trilogy... those trilogies are beautiful books, Jesus seen from the point of view of a child... He liked to play, he learned, he was amazed, he had tantrums, pranks, his mother scolded him, he liked to eat the sweets that his mother prepared... something that shines in Rice's works is the historical research that he does for all his books. From chronicles please read the sanctuary (blood and gold), my favorite vampire Marius Romano, and the sequel to him, Armand the Vampire. Yes, they all have their story to tell, look for those books, they are absorbing, you will not regret it

despite the film having cut the erotic scenes of Lestat and Louis, it is still much better than the 2022 series on the AMC channel (they waited for Anne Rice to die to start changing her work). At that time Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt were already heartthrobs. And no one imagined that the little girl would one day be the eternal MJ Watson from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man

I love the new series. The show was in progress when she died, so I don’t think they were waiting for her to die. I can’t really say what she would have thought of it, but I know they’ve brought things in about Lestat that weren’t revealed till later books in an effort to be truer to the overall arcs of the books. The actor who plays Lestat is a huge Anne Rice fan from his teen years and has read all the books several times.

@@stephenniehaus8635 well most child actors are at their best as children. There was a former child actor who was talking about that the other day. She was getting emotional watching her roles as a child cause she was saying she will never have that innocence again and that is what made her good.

Claudia demands a mother for Louie is leaving her. She is losing her lover to Armand. Louie has never killed anyone, but Claudia and since he has her love he feels alive. Louie kills the woman and at that exact moment Claudia looks disappointed. She realizes the love is over for the only person who matters to her. Armand directs the death of Claudia to complete his wish, in the book it works, and in the movie it does not work. Louie realizes he made a mistake. He has lost the only person beyond his wife that he loved. In the book Armand finally loses Louie as he does conclude it the same as the movie only decades later. "The Unbearable Darkness of being Armand" by lrj You've eaten me. In a dream I saw you. There was no regret and there is no remuneration for me Cause I let you. And I watched it all so carefully and so concluding that the drug for me Is that fall. I tried and tried to make you take but you did all the giving And it was I that made the mistake of crossing your empty, dry, cracked, wanton desert to find you weren't waiting for me On the other side but actually walking away with no guilt, no sadness, no desire, no pretenses but singing about Fate Or was it vertigo? Yes, I remember now The pages of Kundara fly by in my memory I cried out after you but you disappeared Suddenly I was standing on the edge of a gorge The Earth beneath my feet was like stale breadcrumbs Paralyzed by fear I could do nothing But watch it fall away from me. When your voice breathed hard on my face Saying you could fly. It pushed me off balance I fell with horrid tingling throughout my body but mostly in my chest My back slammed the ground out came all the breath from my body and as I felt my eyes bulging Ready to burst with pain, love, tears, and Blood Shot open my eyelids gasping and sitting up in bed - at once - I Alone with your voice whispering to me Still saying that you could fly... I bet you can. Lestat shows up and realizes Claudia was burned by the sun and slaughters all the vampires of the theatre in anger, except Louie and Armand who have both left long ago. Lestat had always hated them and they had always hated him. He didn't need them anyway. He had gotten the blood of a vampire older than Armand, added to that the blood of Greek vampires who cared for the first vampire in the world and finally had fed on the wife of the Pharaoh of Egypt. whom the Greek vampires had watched over for centuries. It's all nonsense. Lestat in the second book tried ot make himself innocent as Louie which was retarded. The second book should have been the interviewer finding Armand and interviewing him with the goal of not being Louie towards him, only to find Louie is different and so only by promising the finding of Louie would Armand ever let him live for having dug him up. The thing is Lestat teased that he could have raised Claudia from the dead out of her ashes if only Louie had not touched her. "Ode to Claudia" - TEMjr Hold tight, the sun is starting to rise; The Bringer of Light, he, burns you alive. Your father, your maker, the devil, the man, he harms you, yet loves you as only he can. But I love you too, though ashes are all that remain. I know indeed what will sustain. I offer you all of my live giving blood; I'll give and I'll give, till it seems like a flood. To hold you, in my arms, curled up all day and when the night comes then we will play. To feel, just once, the bite of your love; drink till your full, my innocent dove.
