Ty for the video. I learn a lot better by seeing and hearing someone rather than reading a manual. I can't comprehend it very well. So this video was a huge life saver for me! Just finished the setup of my 16x32x52! I can't wait to get the salt added tomorrow and get this thing up and running

Oh we understand. We were so nervous a year ago and watched a lot of videos too. The main thing to realize is, Your pump is there to filter out the dirt in your pool and so it's important to keep the pump working properly by keeping the pump clean by watching the sight glass and the pressure gage and learn when you need to backwash (get all the Dirt out) and rinse it (clean the sand clear so the water is clear coming out). Always turn the pump off when you turning the dial between selections and / or placing cleaners or vacuums in the pool (anything you have to hook up to one of your inlets or outlets.) Stay tuned for a simple backwash video that may help. Wow I just noticed your pool size ! You are going to be SUPER FIT. EXCITING!

Hello, thank you for the vid. Just realized you posted a new one today. Today I have gotten my 10” Krystal Clear sand filter pump in that I ordered from Walmart. I just ordered A and B hose adaptors for the 1.5” because my Intex 15x48 has 1.25” hoses on it. Just need sand and I’ll be all set as far as getting it fired up! Thank you sir for taking the time to make vids. Hope you enjoyed your day
@MoverandShaker
@MoverandShaker 4 года назад
Nice! Yes, you are correct the pool comes with 1.25 and the pump comes with 1.50 hoses. I am so happy for you!!! Let me know if you have any questions. It is a learning process and we are still learning. We have 4 days of rain so no pool time for us 😥

@daviddaniel2198 4 года назад
Mover and Shaker did you guys use an adapter for the 1.5” hoses?
@aliceinchains5243
@aliceinchains5243 4 года назад
Just put up my Intex 15x48 and the pump seems weak. I’ve seen a lot of changing to the sand pump. to make things easier I’ll order the A and B hose adapters for the 1.5 line. Seems like you wouldn’t get the full potential with the adapters and seen where people have cut in a larger hole for the 1.5 lines. Wasn’t sure what size pump to get so I’ll follow and get the 10” pump. Specs on my pool shows 4,440 gallons
@MoverandShaker
@MoverandShaker 4 года назад
@@aliceinchains5243 when we first ordered our pool it also came with the cartridge filter and we didn't even set it up we put it up for sale and also sold the filters then we got a 2100 gallon per hour pump and that actually did fine but my husband decided he wanted to be bigger better and get more horsepower and get a pump that does more than was necessary at 3,000 gallons per hour and it works well. We never had to attach any additional adapters so I don't think you're going to need anything if you look at our original setup and our current setup that all came out of either the pool or the sand filter boxes. I'm not sure if your pool didn't come with the same part as ours but you can certainly look at our pool and see if you can follow with that. I have some videos where people have cut the 1.5 in hole in order to get the full potential but our hoses the 1.25 hoses aren't really that long and they go straight into the 1.5 hose if you take a look.

I use the same sand filter but I modified it to use 1.5 inch Hayward brand outlet and a Hayward brand "in the wall" skimmer. Now all my accessories are easy to use and no need for "Intex" brand only. I love the new ability to have so many options and accessories for pools that are not Intex branded! For instance I can use the popular automatic suction type floor cleaners like "Wanda the Whale" etc. The Intex brand connected to the outlet which worked horribly in comparison. Intex uses 1 1/4 inch hoses a lot so I also now have more flow thru the system using the 1 1/2 inch standard pool hoses!

Hi! I just ordered my Intex sand filter yesterday and your video is the best video I have seen on installing my filter so a big Thank You to you!!!!! Just one question, now that you are using this filter, are you still needing to add chemicals or as much chemicals with this filter?
@MoverandShaker
@MoverandShaker 4 года назад
Thank you for the compliments on the video. Interesting question - Answer - Nothing changes with regards to adding chemicals to your pool when you upgrade your filter to a pump that pushes more Gallons per hour. The pump is fantastic! unfortunately you still need to add chemicals to keep the water balanced. We really were stressed out because we could never get it balanced perfectly ever. We purchased so many items, Alkalinity increaser, PH up, PH down, Chlorine tabs, Shock, etc... on and on and on. We were so tired of it. We just switched to a SaltWater System Chlorinator and have completed 7 days and have not had to add one single thing because everytime we test our pool water everything is in the o.k. range and we are estastic. We have a saltwater pool now. It may be something you want to look into in the future to avoid chemicals being adding constantly. we just purchased the intex 16 inch sand filter and pump for our bestway deluxe series 20 ft round pool, we have not connected the filter and pump that came with it yet, so my question is do the piece that connect to the pool inlet and outlet holes work with this intex pump or are we going to have to purchase something else to work with it? just trying to be prepared for when the pump arrives?
@MoverandShaker
@MoverandShaker 4 года назад
I am not familiar with any pool brand with the exception of our INTEX one but the Intex Pump comes with the 1.5" hoses for sure. Now the two 1.25" hoses on the right came with the pool and fit exactly on the 2nd and 3rd outlets with hose clamps. that were manufactured into the pool . I have seen online it is VERY Common that you may need adapters that convert 1.5" to 1.25" hoses or outlets or vice versa. It seems everyones pool and pump are configured a little differently depending on your equipment and pool brands but I can tell you these simple hose adapters are on Amazon and can be purchased quickly or go right up the street to your local pool company for them. I have a bunch them myself that I preordered just in case (sames as you are thinking now) and I never needed them but you're pool is different so I don't want to advise you. What I suggest you do is look at the Parts reference guide inside the online manual on the Intex website for the pump you purchased and then look at the parts reference guide on the Best way deluxe pool guide parts specifically for size of hoses and outlets, etc.. and you will know ahead of time. I don't think you will need any extra hoses. Just possibly if any adapters and they are cheap. I would also say look at some bestway videos that have an intex pump combo and look for those SMALL hoses and look for adapters on them. I am guessing if anything you would need 1.5" to 1.25" or 1.25 to 1.5" but no more than probably 2 to 3. Sorry I couldn't be more help but I think some videos may render some clues if you look closely. If you look at those PLUNGER Valves on our pool left and right those allow you to stop and start water flow and the right side allows you to also connect small 1.25 hoses into.
@colegunter9133

Did you need to replace the two 1.25 intake hoses that came with the pool when you upgraded the pump. The owner’s manual says they can only handle 2150 gph but I noticed you didn’t change them. Are they working just fine. Do I need to change those hoses to the 1.5?
@MoverandShaker
@MoverandShaker 4 года назад
Now that is an interesting point you just made. We haven't had problems of any sort with the 1.25 intake hoses at all, and I did not know that the owners manual indicated that at all. I will alert my husband to that detail you provided but we realize you have to cut the holes in order to upgrade to the 1.5" and that would be the only reason we haven't done that. That makes me nervous cutting into your investment.
@madmaxd1
@madmaxd1 3 года назад
If you don't mind me butting in. It should not be a problem as long as the 1.25" hoses are for the intake of the pump. Both hoses eventually convert into a 1.5" to the pump. If you'd had only one hose as the source, then I would think the upgrade to a 1.5" would be a benefit.

Your video was so helpful! I just set up my pool a few days ago and am upgrading the smaller cartridge filter to a sand pump. I am waiting on the adapters because the hoses / outlets in the pool are too small for the sand filter connections. Have you ever swapped out the entire pump when the pool is full? I'm wondering if I need to drain the pool a bit or if i just have to move fast when swapping out the hoses?

Thanks for liking the video. We also were having trouble in the beginning and relied on videos to help us through. No we have never swapped the pump when the pool is full. We have only drained the pool below the inlet/outlets disconnected the pump for the winter, however, you don't have too drain it though If you have the two isolation valves you just turn the on/off and disconnect the hoses for the switch if your set up is the same as ours. Yes we also sold our cartridge filter and also the left over filters. And we sold our original pump that we had installed last summer because for some reason my husband wanted a bigger and better one. ;)

@MoverandShaker 3 года назад
Those hoses you see in this video to do the backwash came from our Intex Pool Cleaner. They give you 6 hoses for up to a 22' ft pool. We had some we didn't use because our pool is 18' so that is where they came from. There is a 59" hose available on Amazon that might work for you. amzn.to/3AU9PGs NOw we do this instead: We use The Aqua EZ hose from Lowes. It is 50' long and I ended up with is actually a 2" hose and I couldn't get it over the threads so I purchased an Intex valve pictured here: amzn.to/3k2HLe1 which may be cheaper on eBay you might want to check first before purchasing and then I use a regular metal hose clamp to attach the 2 inch hose to this adapter. It works like a charm and doesn't leak. I very rarely have to backwash. When you do, don't forget afterwards to rinse.

As far as a bubbles coming into your pool from the outlet on the outside of the pool where the plunger valve is, is the dark gray cap not completely pushed down? As far as the air bubble that you described in your pump filter basket there's always at least a small air bubble at the very top of the pump filter basket right under the little cap. the collection basket is supposed to be filled with water but occasionally you have to burp it so turn your pump off and then unscrew the cap on the filter basket until you see water flowing out of it in order to release the air but yes it is normal for it to be filled up with water and occasionally you'll see debris in there like pine straw or leaves. p.s. we barely and /or rarely have to backwash. We always vacuum in Filter mode. We use a manual vacuum because we prefer to pinpoint debris and not waste all day waiting for the vacuum to roll around and pick stuff up.

@@SuzyElzaharOfficial I can give you personal advice based on our experience using chemicals but we just switched to a salt water system and haven't had to add a single chemical period in almost three weeks and we are loving it. The reason we switched is because we could NEVER Get our pool properly balanced and we were ALWAYS buying something that needed to be added. PH up, PH down, alkalinity increaser, Calcium Hardness, shock etc.. It gets really old Not knowing for sure what to do and that is why we moved to salt water. We just have to take extra care of our pool and rinse it off good everyday to keep the salt off the metal. Now, basically, for the sand filter...watch your gauge, when it gets closer to the yellow area, it's time to backwash. Sometimes we simply backwash to get rid of rain water that has filled up too much in our pool. Some folks use waste but you lose water too fast that way. We just put it on backwash and let the water leave the pool. You won't need to backwash that often, I think we do it maybe twice a month if that. Feel free to ask any questions anytime. I just answered this question as best as I could earlier this evening so I will copy my answer to you but a lot of INTEX users have the same issue for our new pumps including us. It's not that bad though for us, barely noticeable and it rarely happens. Every once in awhile our pump spits out a light amount of sand on start up as well however the area is very small over by the discharge side of the pool and no where else. I have had a couple of other Intex pump users describe the same thing. We just vacuum it up with our Deluxe Maintenance Vac. Our pump was brand new also this spring when it did this and it's only done it once or twice since setting it up in May. I know this can happen after backwashing and I have also heard folks indicate that the some sand is too fine and will do that. It could also mean there was a slight amount of sand above what was needed. I can't say for sure why it happens. It has not happened on a regular basis so it does not happen too often here. In terms of resolving it, try running the filter on Rinse, then Backwash, this will hopefully clear out any smaller particles that are getting through if it persists, I would consult directly with Intex on that by calling their techical assistance /customer line. I think we all need to find out is it too much sand a possibility even though we followed their guidance or is it an order of things when backwashing, etc..

Your pump may be too large or the sand level too high in the filter. most of these pools Bestway, Intex and Coleman you can modify to suit your needs with different brand accessories, you just sometimes need adapters to decrease or increase hose fittings I recommend you google this as I do not have a Bestway pool but I did find a video that is similar in nature. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VK0cKjtqe5Q.html check this video out.

I am so sorry we never saw this from our RU-vid App. We are logged onto the desktop today on my RU-vid and found your comment in an unusual area but you probably figured it all out by now. We do have a skimmer video if you want to switch from the Intex skimmer to a Highly recommended Hayward skimmer. amzn.to/41qCeRL

Thank you!!! We just set up our brand new pool and filter and did as you described but when we started backwashing, water came out and then stopped and we can’t figure out why. The only difference with what we see in your video is we didn’t put the little black cap back onto the outlet discharge that connects to the pool. Could that be the issue?

We both do not understand how that could happen unless your water level was below the discharge area. We have never heard of this happening.

For your smaller sized pool you should be good with this one. 12" Intex Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump for Above Ground Pools Pump flow Rate: 2100 GPH. System flow Rate: 1, 600 GPH amzn.to/3dbuJXY I think our sand filter would be way too much for yours.

I’ve had my sand filter for about a year now, and I don’t see any water in the sight glass like that. Could that be an issue?

You should see the water flowing when you use backwash and rinse cycles.

GREAT VIDEO, MY HUSBAND AND I WERE ABLE TO INSTALL OUR NEW FILTER PUMP.. I DO HAVE TWO QUESTIONS IN HOPES YOU WILL ANSWER THE. 1. THE SIZE HOSES THAT YOU USE WHEN BACK WASHING YOUR FILTER. 2. WHY WHEN I BACK WASH MY FILTER I FOLLOW THE STEPS BUT WHEN I PUT IT BACK TO FILTERING AFTER BACKWASHING AND RINSING MY FILTER PUSHS OUT DIRT INTO MY POOL. IT'S HAPPEN TO ME TWICE NOW AND ITS VERY UPSETTING. PLEASE HELP

1. The hoses that we had attached to the backwash area were a special combination of hoses that we made up of two of them came from the Intex pool cleaner and two we purchased off of Amazon. We only use those a few times before we switch to a 50 ft backwash hose that we purchased at Lowe's that way we could get the salt water way way way way out in the yard in an area where we weren't concerned about the grass. As far as your filter pump. When backwashing make sure your sight glass is clear before you stop backwashing. Then you turn off your pump then you put it on the rinse cycle and then you flush with the rinse cycle until the sight glass is clear then you would turn off your pump again before putting it back on filter.

When backing washing and Rinsing, and filter do I keep both valves open? On the pool?
@MoverandShaker

Your Inlet and outlet return valves on the pool are always open during operation of the pump with the exception of exception of if you want to do maintenance on your strainer basket that's attached to the pump In order to keep the pool water in the pool while you're cleaning it.

Hi I have a question please can you tell me .I have 12 feet pool can I use this pump on my pool .thank you

Our particular pump wold be way to powerful for your pool. You could step down to a smaller Intex pump because our pump moves 3000 gallons per hour and our old one moved 2100 per hour. Your not going to need a very large pump at all.
