The sad part is - this is the training facility. This is the root of the problem. They are NOT trained to understand they are public servants. They should be focused on being professional, courteous, and fully understand the laws. They are Trained to be Tyrants, aggressive and controlling. A change is needed at this level first - then throughout the entire police force.

They do need to be retrained, but first they must be deprogrammed. This is a long, slow process and the police do not have anyone capable of carrying it out. Many will be beyond redemption.

You’ve been gone for about a month and a half, but when you came back holy cow what a video! The scary thing is that the two officers are training officers. The female officer is definitely a drill sergeant type personality. She’s used to speaking and barking and not having anybody speak back. The Lieutenant did it absolutely outstanding job.

The public needs to have cameras in every classroom and training facility that teaches POST certification. We need to know EXACTLY how and what these officers are being taught. And the same goes for their on-the-job training, that they receive at the department that they are working for. One of your best efforts to date. Not soft, not belligerent, not rude, not intimidated. Forceful, firm in your convictions, calm and clear in your delivery. Top notch work from a top notch auditor. Some are out there widening the divide just like law enforcement is, while you and the Lieutenant Pacheco's of the world attempt to narrow the gap. The female officer reminded me of an Army drill sergeant. Treat your cadets like that, sure. But you can't do that with the public, especially without lawful orders. The lieutenant did an amazing job of listening and de-escalating the situation. There are so many people out there that shit on auditors for what they do, we hear all the “let them do their job”, “just comply”, “why do you have to make an issue out of something so small”, etc etc…. what those people don’t understand is how quickly THEIR life could be burned to the ground just because a cop acts like these two did. You don’t even need to break a law or argue with them, it could have NOTHING to do with you, he could have simply had a fight with his wife the night before. If he chooses to GO OFF, he CAN make shit up, turn up the intimidation, and if you react even slightly… his lies and your polite protest become “threatening a law enforcement officer”. This video should be used in cadet training. This should encourage them to learn the law in order to be professional officers and not fools. If these officers had an integrity they would send you an apology and state that they intend to do better in the future. This was one of the most well-done Audits ever. You truly are making the difference. What they don’t see is “one day, we’re all buyers and one day we’re all sellers”, meaning this law is for their citizenship personal protection also. They’re just looking at it today as a threat to them, when it’s not. It’s for ALL OF OUR protection. They are fighting a fight that doesn’t need to be fought. Education is key. It relieves a lot of unnecessary stress. Puts you from defense to offense, when you know and accept your role, and understand where your authority ends.. AND keep your ego checked. It sucks to get checked. I get it. But once you know where your authority ends and accept it, you’ll never frustrate yourself again. Don’t forget!….
