@Xiaofeng Qiu --Just something I'm noticing here:-- "I’ve been into MBTI for over a year now (Si?) and know each cognitive function inside out (Ti). I have also been exposed (Si) to Socionics and OPS, though I’m aware of the dangers (responsible Ne) of mixing these up. My knowledge (Ti) is not purely theoretical (abstract, informative) either as I’m quite familiar (Si) with the stereotype as well. In both tests from Truity and 16Personalities, which I know are pretty inaccurate (Te nemisis, fighting against your hero?), I consistently got INTJ (systematic), and the results from the cognitive functions test also matches INTJ (more systematic). So if I can’t be sure I’m INTJ now I will be forever doubting my type (a touch of Fi demon perhaps?)" -- Also noticed your responses are not direct, but very informative (provide more info than asked but leave some of it open for interpretation) and are nuanced as one might do when being careful not to offend, even when disagreeing, much like an Fe user would do. You stay on topic which means you are also responding. At your core, are you more motivated by discovery or by reverence? The former is consistent with INTP, the latter is more consistent with INTJ. Compare the way Gabriel Bezerra commented above to your much longer responses. One is direct and to the point and leaves nothing on the table for interpretation, the other is informative.

I LOVE your inclusion of "Passionate". Many like to pretend we're one-dimensional soulless robots who exist purely for logistical purposes, because that's easier for them to process. To see us as multi-faceted, passionate, morally-led, bold and analytical sleuths/self-builders is accurate and wonderful to see in someone who isn't one of us. For example, I'm pursuing forensic science out of a feeling of moral obligation. It feels like my higher purpose. Like INFJs, we're actually quite humanitarian. But our Fi allows us to switch off the "empathic" part (as opposed to Fe, in INFJs, which struggles with this) and to remain stoic until we don't have to be. Which is why INTJs make great detectives, surgeons, and medical consultants. I want to put my external knowledge and innate intuition to good use by helping to solve murders. The dead deserve justice, and I am prepared to fight (with my brain and solid evidence) to give it to them. I'm actually convinced my Fi is what made me quit law school. Where INTPs, ENTPs and ENTJs thrive on making shit up on the fly just to win an argument or impress people (don't even _try_ to deny you do it, my dad's an ENTP) my Fi overpowers that ability and makes me feel extremely guilty when I lie. I could not honestly go in to a courtroom and try to defend a murderer in the face of the victim's family. But those are the kinds of cases you're handed when you start off. I'd be absolutely useless because I wouldn't have the passion I need to keep going, and I would never be content. Similarly, I quit Performing Arts school. I realised I'm better at analysing/appreciating productions than being in them, and I don't really see the long-term effects it has on the wider world beyond putting a smile on people's face. It's something I might pursue in my free time, but generally I don't have a lot of that haha. It doesn't give me that "I'm saving the world, one project at a time" kind of feeling that I need. I think I get my well-developed Fi from my ISTJ mother. Our Fi is similarly placed but luckily hers is very mature, and I've tried to follow her example. Once she has a moral conviction, she stands by it. I admire that. I admire my dad too but mostly for his ability to come up with something sarcastic to suit almost any situation. He also introduced me to science. PLEASE make more INTJ videos, your understanding of us is like nobody else I've watched. I always feel at home when you upload a video about us! Thanks so much.

Well put. I would rather starve than do something I believed was unjust or even frivolous. I’ve been close to that point but already know I will reach the end of my life regretting far less than most people do. I have such admiration for INTJs. I love their purposeful curiosity, driven intensity, acerbic wit, and all-around ability to get things done. The mind of an INTJ is so intriguing to me -- their need for systematic efficiency and ruthless logic leads to bold and at times unconventional approaches. There's something decidedly fascinating about the otherworldly, "decidedly alienesque" quality to INTJs... 🖤 - an INFP (Love the choices of words, Nathan!)
@johnknight9150

Internally, beneath the stoic mask, we are INFPs underneath. If you want to see what drives an INTJ with such fire and determination, it may be the inevitable head-over-heels love they feel for a certain INFP. Of all the types, the biggest soft spot we have is for INFPs, and are possibly the only type that will cause an INTJ to have "love at first sight".
@Cyberjyuubi

That perposeful curiosity and diven intensity can have there down sides. That curiosity has gotten me into more trouble than bares thing about and the intensity that can border and sometimes strays into obsession. Both of these can come at the cost of many things such as things you're surpose to be doing at the time or even other people. On the topic of getting things done that is true in cases were things have an optimal solution to them but in the case of something as unoptimized as say politics it causes a lot of frustration as there is no optimal solution.

Here's a secret: We actually usually like having fun. We're just not good at going out and having fun completely on our own because it wasn't in our plan for the day. This is one of the things we like having other people around for: They remind us to stop and enjoy things, and create new things to enjoy. It may have been the Fe that put him off if it's taken this long. We don't like it when people try too hard to keep group harmony or be nice to us. It tends to make us suspicious. This is not to say we don't value people being nice to us or group harmony. Just that Fe users sometimes get our backs up by prioritizing those things. Like, this is a nice video about INTJs. But it's also clinical and factual from someone who studies MBTI. It was positive, but presented in a way we can happily accept, and didn't try to soften the negatives to make us feel better, since we know precisely who we are.

Also, I think it would be interesting to touch a role of freedom in mind and behaviour of INTJ. It's not only (and mostly not) the political notion of freedom, but rather an inner, spiritual feeling. I think it's one of the central principles for INTJ. If you're free, you can't be harmed. If you're free, you don't depend on. If you're free, you have enough field for maneuver. If you're free, you may follow and express your ideas without looking around. If you're free, it's easier to manipulate people and other resources to get your tasks done and targets achieved. And so on. I think INTJ naturally strive for freedom from state, society, obligations, limitations etc., with a funny contraversive readiness to practise all of it towards others for the sake of achieving the aim, be it common good or something selfish.

@jenniferhanses7064
@jenniferhanses7064 Год назад
I will tell you the story that I read that crystalized my own feelings about freedom, choice, and power. I probably won't tell it very well, but it's a Zen Koan i cam across. There was a warlord conquering the lands with an immense army. In the midst of his marauding, he came across a wandering monk. He took the monk prisoner, and asked him who the most powerful person in the world was. I don't recall the answer the monk gave, but let us simply suppose it was I don't know. "I am" said the warlord. He put a sword to the monk's throat. "If you do not answer me correctly this time, I will kill you. Who is the most powerful person in the world." The monk replied "I am because I can make the most powerful man in the world kill me." The warlord released the monk, took him as his advisor, and stopped his marauding ways. :) I won't say that the monk was an INTJ from such a simple story. But to me, this is certainly an INTJ view of the world that I don't think a lot of other types would have. And it is why everyone else thinks we're master manipulators even when we're just wandering around trying to do our own thing or backed into a corner. Even cornered, we understand our option, and the truth of the matter.

'Optimised' is a better word than the 'efficiency' tag we always get stuck with. We are not obsessed with efficiency, we are obsessed with optimisation. Efficiency is merely a part of the broader goal of optimisation, and lacks the Passion (point 4!) and feeling of what we want to achieve. For me personally, the term efficiency evokes a very dehumanised, sometimes brutal image. Yes, we want to make large changes that can be applied on a worldwide scale, but we also want the maximum quality of life for everyone involved -- we don't want people to be disposable cogs in an unfeeling, unrelenting, passionless machine.
@mirriyastia7041
@mirriyastia7041 Год назад
Sounds like XNFX narrative) I don't know, maybe I really don't want to - my realistic approach keeps in mind some humanistic ideals; but I feel sarcastic about idealism, as idealism is only achieved by real, not ideal, sometimes dirty, methods. And in this way people are true cogs, though it's innerly hard to admit they are. INTJ are planners, and each plan exploits its resources. Human resources as well. And to be passionate ABOUT PEOPLE? You serious?
@MoPoppins
@MoPoppins Год назад
Agree 💯.
@johnknight9150
@johnknight9150 Год назад
@@mirriyastia7041 Not passionate about people, no, that's not quite right. Some days I would like to wipe every single human off the planet. But we would like to make people better. To make them more tolerable, with my grumpy hat on, or to elevate the human race and reduce the moronic harm they inflict on the planet and themselves. I would say the goals *are* "NF" driven if you consider the secret to the INTJ: the third slot Fi -- like a baby INFP sitting below the surface. An immature INTJ may try to suppress it, but with age and maturity, that Fi will rise and grow, and becomes the fiery furnace that runs the INTJ steam engine. Nihilism and sarcasm are part of the INTJ's darkside, and will lure them into the downward spiral. For an INTJ to continue in life and not get stuck in morbid self-indulgence, contributing nothing, then one must break free from those vices and find meaning and purpose.
@mirriyastia7041
@mirriyastia7041 Год назад
@@johnknight9150 well, I think I got your point, that's what I've also mentioned - an idealism-based and idealism-concerned realism of INTJ. But for me it is more like acceptance of living in the world of people and a resolve to work with them (in wider point), despite all of bad features of them. But to work WITH, not to work FOR. I hardly can imagine an INTJ who wish to make people's life better with a good idea, instead of the real one, who wish to fullfil a good idea, which can (maybe; good if it can, "pity" if not) make people's life better along with it.
@johnknight9150
@johnknight9150 Год назад
@@mirriyastia7041 That's the amusing paradox of INTJs: looking down upon idealism while being idealistic themselves (whether they realise it or not!). It sounds like you're in that tricky part of life (perhaps mid-twenties?) where you need to break through to the next stage of individuation. A different cultural perspective can work wonders and bring insights that you will currently lack. I needed Japanese culture when I was "stuck" as a teen, and I needed French culture when I was "stuck" as a thirty year old. If you're not opposed to spirituality and/or religion, one of these approaches may help activate the more unconscious elements of your psyche and create a new and sudden will to *serve* rather than fight. This humility and service is a part of the growing process, and the distinction between mature and immature -- whether INTJ, or any other type.

My folder is full of “ready to go” projects I can whip out once someone discovers that particular problem. Of course people always want to go and figure out what I’ve already done and tested. This is one of your most helpful videos for me (INFP), Nathan, thank you! I type my parents as ESTJ and ISTJ, my upbringing wasn't the healthiest, being an INFP wasn't acceptable and I basically tried to make myself into an INTJ. (To give you an idea how unacceptable, as a young adult my reaction to my first MBTI result was, "Feelings? A strength? What? I have feelings?") Watching this video made me feel fundamentally and phenomenally exhausted, and it comes at a good time for me too. While I accept and love being INFP in the present, there has still been a "someday I'll be..." everything you've said here. I recently let that go, and this video reinforces for me that that's the right instinct to follow. Even if I could manage it, it's not my preference, it's my parents'. All the proud INTJs in the comments help too, since I know my heart would never be in it like that. If in it my heart can't be/that confirms it's not for me/Consequences come what may/I'm just not a T or J 😉

(INFP) Nice poem!!! and understand your sadness. I was raised in a family of crazy. I also have strong T, so share a lot of traits with INTP, and also until my mid 30s did not understand feelings or the purpose of them. I have alexythimia. I’m a creative writer and have always been a creator (writing stories and poems, drawing) so I think that’s how my feelings most naturally express themselves. I also went to law school and illogical systems or people drive me batty. A lot of INFPs have strong logical minds. But we can also create out of our otherworldly connection to the etheric domains, and the human individual’s experience of heaven and hell. Best of luck on your journey back to yourself…. ❤ and remember there is no more deadly combo than a sharp brain and a soft heart.

@@dhisufiroafrozenseraphimdragon I can tell you what worked for me in college. Maybe you can apply it to where you are now. I got a daily planner for the year, with each day broken down on each page by the hour (this was very important). It may have had two days per page. I can't remember, but no more than 2. I would get the syllabus (i. e. all the work that needed to be done per semester), and write in all the due dates for things that needed to be written and tests that needed to be taken. Then I'd look at the chapters I had to read, and assign myself to read them, usually on the class day before it would be needed (if a T/Th class, I'd schedule Thursday's reading on Tuesday), though I might start earlier if they were long (such as having to read a whole book, then I'd schedule an hour of reading per day of the book as needed, as far back as needed). This usually meant I had an hour to 2 1/2 hours of scheduled reading per day. Then I'd go back through and write in days and times to work on my papers, and schedule appointments with the writing center for a review before turning them into the professors. I wrote in all of my club activities. And then if something came up and I wanted to change plans to handle an emergency, or go to a social function and I didn't already have time for it in my planner, I could usually shift things around (doing readings scheduled for Tuesday on Wednesday, for example). I could also see if I was massively overbooked and couldn't move stuff, though I can't recall that actually ever happening.

INTPs and INTJs are probably the most similar types when it comes to "swapping the Ps and Js", as it were. We tend to reach the same conclusions but via opposite pathways: you guys start with something small (and solid) and then build up something from that base, whereas we start with something big and whittle away what's unnecessary until we end up with something small and precise. This is such a nice little ego boost. Truthfully, I can't stand being an INTJ. Every other personality type has a balance of flaws and strengths, meanwhile I can only see the issues that an INTJ mind has. Our tunnel vision is a long one, and we ruminate within those confines for ages, our inability to take action right away, so much so that we wind up wasting time and opportunity, losing that efficiency we desire, and an overall attitude of superiority that, yes, it may be true, but we shirk connection to maintain that independence. At first, I was fine when I figured out my cognitive functions aligned with it (took personality tests, kept getting feeler types). Then I went "oh shit" and realized my personality and mindset is part of why I have problems. I've gotten better, even if I went through an identity crisis recently, and kept desperately trying to disprove I was an INTJ. But nope. Got this brain and now I just have to optimize it (sorry, Nathan, but my American ways insist on the 'Z', you know, the one used in English courses throughout the world, hehe). This channel is always a comforting space however, so I take pleasure in the compliments amid the callouts!

I can relate, mate. Nothing to say to you except - fight, don't drop your hands. We integees are self-contradiction, self-conflict, self-doubt, and we have to get through it to stand on a firm ground. Sometimes - to force ourselves to do instead of waiting. I often catch myself on an approach like "I'd better stay out of this fight, as it is pointless, exhausting and depressing, ", and maybe sometimes I have my truth; but there are fights, struggles and competitions we can't stay away from, postpone or prepare for.

I’m guessing you’re on the younger side? I *_really_* love being an INTJ, but it’s because I’ve learned to OPTIMIZE how to work w/ all the competing forces/energies, and cultivated the ability to stop being my own worst enemy. If you want to become the best version of yourself, STUDY OTHERS. Pick someone you want to emulate, and start practicing becoming a version of whatever you want to be (you’ll always be lending your own vibe). Do this for any & every aspect of your life. When you pick role models who resonate w/ you (whether fictional or real…as long as the objective you set is feasible), they serve as a North Star & finish line, though you can feel free to pivot or adapt at any point. What you’ll find in mature & well-developed versions of ANY personality type, is that they’ll become hard/harder to type because they’re not one-dimensional stereotypes of their archetype-they’ve worked on their weaknesses, so they’re more balanced as people. These people-no matter what their type-don’t think that it sucks to be them. Don’t be too attached to labels, or to the current version of yourself. If you don’t have older people in the offline world that you respect & admire, seek them out online or elsewhere. You’ll likely find that the person you want to be is a COMPOSITE of various personality types-THIS will lead you to become the most optimized version of yourself. Go forth, INTJ & release those limiting beliefs! Practice becoming the person you want to become, one step, one day @ a time-down the line, it’ll become second nature…I promise. 🙏 - an almost 48 yr old INTJ

@@MoPoppins I just left my 20s, so I'm considered "young" by some and "old" by anyone under that. lol I do come across as "young" though, without getting too into it, from the crap and trauma I was subjected to while growing up, so I suppose figuring myself out and handling emotions and perceptions were stunted and now I'm finally getting _somewhere,_ you know? No one warned me our 20s wasn't where you actually solidify, but where you pull things apart. I'd like to continue to be better and emulate the ideal version of myself in my head--I've managed to soul-search on my own without help for so long, that it's still difficult to perceive most folks as 'role models' aside from that concept in my head. Folks offline don't give me the best examples to mimic. However, this random little shout into the void wound up giving me advice I needed to read, so I'm going to take the suggestions you've given me, as well as what was said before by others, and try to apply it to my daily living. Can I mention a theory I have about INTJ’s? I am an INTJ but I happen to meet an INTJ from South East Asia. Who ran a Salon. I know, a salon! But she was, she had vision that regulars don’t have. Anyway her entire family and village died in a tsunami. She had been away from the area on a trip but she lost everything. She had no one 😢but she picked up her things got refugee status to move to America where she got married and opened her business that I frequented. I found this out while we were talking about losing loved ones. Being the INTJ I am, I thought 💭 what if the reason INTJ’s are so independent, generalized, vision and goal oriented because they are meant to be sort of survivors. The ability to pick themselves back up after great loss and continue a group of people. I suspect some personalities would not recover from this kind of loss. INTJ, would have the grit, vision, patience determination to start over again. The intuition needed to envision a future without the familiar seems VERY INTJ. I think 🤔 our personality type was created to carry the species on, no matter what ❤. A biological responsibility! That could explain why we have the habit of seeing how things could be better…..just a thought 😊
