I was like the wife looks like princess Fiona in Shrek the musical on Broadway. I searched up her name and checked the bio and it is her! I can’t believe I remembered that 😂
So weird, when the original Into the Woods was broadcast on PBS we tried recording it with a VHS tape. We started recording at the exact same moment "It's the witch from next door!"
No one is talking about how Link from grey's anatomy (Chris Carmack) played Rapunzel's prince. Such talent. Sierra and Sutton 😍 and omg Gaten's talent I had no idea he was so good in musical theater
I saw him as Gavroche in Les Mis on Broadway years ago, before Stranger Things even started - even got him to sign my playbill at stage door. Very sweet kid, very talented.
I just realized this. Both Gaten Matarazzo (who is playing Jack here) and Daniel Huttlestone have one thing in common. They both started in playing Gavroche in Les Misérables, Gaten in Broadway and Daniel in West End (eventually also playing the role in the movie), then both eventually plays Jack in Into the Woods. Gaten here in the Hollywood Bowl and Daniel in the movie that came out last 2014
I'm not sure I love this production as much as the old one. They certainly try and I enjoy watching it, cause there is clearly a lot of effort that went into it. The actors also give it their all... but still. At time it feels oddly rushed. They don't take their time with a lot of the jokes and just shove the Pointe right after the set-up in one breath. I would like it more if they took a bit more time. Doesn't even need to be much, just a sec or two, so that the mind can work through the spoken words and appreciate the tone and everything. Cause I actually like the whitey way lots of the lines are delivered. For me it would be perfect if it just weren't as hasty at times. That said- costumes, songs and everything else are very very nice. Very enjoyable performance.
They don’t even include it in the original version,so far only the 2002 revival one includes , even the soundtrack doesn’t include so it’s probably not that popular.
I don't think you realize that into the woods is an extremely difficult show to put on. everything is fast-paced, there are music cues for every other line that you have to get just right, a million and a half sets and moving pieces, and don't even get me started on the difficulties of the songs alone. they did amazingly well compared to a lot of other productions, actually
