1:52 "Nirvana Sutra, Verse 19: The worst of the Eight Hells is called Continuous Hell [Avici]. It has the meaning of Continuous Suffering. Thus the name."
I have seen both versions. Both are good in their own right. But I personally like Infernal Affairs more because the characters connections to each other and development really drove the story. You get to sympathize on both sides, especially when you watch the rest of the trilogy.
Yeah but i didnt like how they had 3 female characters in the original. It made too many unnecessary side plots. Scorsese and the writer was brilliant enough to put the 3 in 1 strong female character in Maddy. I also didnt like how the 2 main knew each other at the academy. Then gets arrested or meeting each at the electronics store. Then after the failed operation. Thats 4x they met face to face. It literaly destroyed the mystique of their identities. As both are suppose to be unknown investigating each other. It wouldnt take a rocket scientist to put 2 and 2. Hmmm. The guy i was in the academy suddenly joins the Triad. Then gets arrested by me. Then i see him at the same electonics store listening to the same music as me. Then hes at the main police office with his boss after the drug deal gone wrong. An they couldnt tell who each other was when chased at the movie theatre?! Get the fuck outta here.
I'm blinded by my nostalgic love, but now that you put it like that, it really is a stupid plot hole lol. Even I w my rose tinted glasses had to question how Yen didn't recognize Lau's hair style in the theater.
Juen Lai more like = For editing and pace would be infernal affairs. But for character development, directing and realism would have to be the departed
@@emptyskullifyyep, I also have to agree. I loved IA, but I really loved the Heathe Ledger film. I knew it was gonna be magnificent the moment I saw his performance as the Joker in a trailer, and then I was even more pleasantly surprised by the actual movie's intro.
True. The Departed is a copy. But its true that there was a Detective working for an Irish Mob family. And the family had an Undercover Cop in the rackets. Martin Scorsese was almost sued by a Gangsters family because the movie was based to closely on him.
already sure tsang chi wai, yu man lok, wong chau sang, hui kam fung betray bfp and join bad poon's gang, addison chan and his team might also join bad poon's gang. already know poon's gang all fail and defeat by bfp.
The opening song is AMAZING, I NEED this soundtrack. I watched the 3rd film yesterday, all I can say is, WTF? It really got messed up in that film, but it was still great viewing. Just flicked through the 1st film about 20 minutes ago and it makes a LOT more sense now :D Just need to get my parents to watch it downstairs with me on the cinema system now and get them hooked into it
The Plot of the third film is good too. It’s just that its hard to digest because of lots of flashback and delusions if you haven’t watch the first film
Third film is a ..mess. i think that producer just produce it cuz want to teach 'good guy get good things n bad guy get bad thing'. But They are completly forget that this movie is about fighting between 2 good and bad cops not to add any ---2,3 cheat chareacter good cops just to get rid of Li Ming. Third movies is just shame they just forget theme of their second movies lol.
Infernal Affairs is a classic. I also like the Departed. See guys? It's not so hard to appreciate both. The Departed in my opinion is the best remake ever.
Who gives a CRAP about "the American audience" .. . . I saw it couple of you years ago and saw pnly the ending from the other one and it is bullshit American "happy Ending" CRAP !!! ! SHAME to steal a movie and get an Oscsr for it .. . . Ik
@@tinazivk They didn't ask for "American audience". This is a Hong Kong movie. If It weren't for this movie, the "American audience" would not have their inferior version called "The Departed"
@@tinazivkThere is nothing shameful about it because they didn't steal it in the first place, they bought the copyrights from the producers of the original.
Did Chang Wing Yan have a daughter? What was the point of his old friend lying about the age of her daughter and why was it never mentioned again if it was his daughter? Maybe I am stupid.
You're wrong, he's supposed to be a cake that a lot of girls want to eat, those inferiority girl or boy or ignored by him, trying to harass him to hurt him or get his attention, wherever he goes, the boy gives him ugly faces, challenges and malicious envy. Only a positive and kind person is willing to accept his talent and pretty face. He worked hard just to show them that he was outperforming them. But his career ended in failure because of someone jealousy and antifa. But in the end he left behind good memories and good fights. Still doing well and living a happy life, winning back all the cowardly bad boys and bitches. He still is every asia teenage model. He remains a role model for every Asian teenager. No one can defeat him yet. More malice represents his vast empire!
