If anyone is looking for more diverse titles, I have four starters to recommend: The Family (series) by Katrina Jackson. All the female leads are Black, it's low-key on the mafia part with high steam and instalove vibes but the good kind. It's like the Brown Sisters but make it Dark romance. The Broken Chain MC (series) by E.M. Lindsey. Often older main characters, all m/m couples, often disability rep, one mc is Jewish. An unusual club that still has to deal with some violence but is still focused on the positive, found family aspect of their club. Pensive by Travena Terry. He's a Black assassin, she's a Black romance author. The book mainly follows their romance but we do see him on the job at times. Mirror Monster on my wall by Tam Nicnevin is fairy tale/horror historical mashup novella with a RH without men. The protagonist is half-Black, autistic and disabled and wants to escape her abusive guardian with the help of her monster lovers. It goes hard both in terms of kink and in terms of plot and it's wild ride I would absolutely recommend.

Thanks for the recs. I’m interested in the intermediate recs. Personally, as a heterosexual woman married to a man, I enjoy reading steamy same sex romance books more than male/female romances. Do you have recommendations on any steamy same sex romance (doesn’t have to be dark) books?

I haven't read many but I have read Katee Roberts Olympus series which I highly recommend and Sav R Miller has a similar Olympic theme but only in terms of very loosely inspired by Greek Mythology. For example her first book Pomegranates and Promises, isn't so much a Hades and Persephone retelling but rather a gangster romance. For more Vamperic I would suggest Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series. It's a long burn as the first few are murder mystery/action based only but by the time you get to book twelve Anita is collecting a reverse harem

The first dark romance I read was Pepper Winters. Also, I have a small town romance recommendation is the Carter Brothers series. Just search Lois Autry on Amazon. It is on Kindle Unlimited.

Do you have any dark vampire romance recommendations?

I really like the idea of dark romance but I have power dynamic preferences for het relationships that prevent me from trying so many. If anyone knows of any abduction romances where the woman is the kidnapper or MC romances where the woman is in the MC or really any romances where the woman is more powerful / knowledgeable / has the upper hand - please let me know!
