Beautiful melody! Definitely will practice it! If you are looking for more songs to add to this series than i recommend checking out river flows in you by yiruma. It has a fantastic melody that i think would sound great with the xiao😊

Hi, I´m new here and really appreciate your channel and your explainations! Thank you for that. I try to learn from you, but I haven´t watched all your video one by one. I for example learned from your video "How To Read Jian Po". There you explain, that the 1 or DO is the basic note (f or g), means the thumb at the backside, and the three fingers at the front covering the three top holes. But as I try to learn with this video here the "One Body, One Heart" song I realize that the 1 here is: covered all holes and even oveblown to the high scale. I don´t understand. You beginn with the 6, which in your former explaination should be the 3 in the middle scale. Have you changed the way it is written in Jian Po? I´m confused, please explain....

You are absolutely correct. This song is played in a different key. This means that the fingering positions are different that the standard "lowest note = 5" pattern. This is in the "D" tuning section of my book "Introduction to the Dong Xiao" so the lowest note is actually 1.

I have a 3 section in the key of G but the bottom section has extra 6 holes 2 rows of 3 ( : : : ) . I don't remember the proper way to line them up, can you help? I purchased it around pandemic time but then I got covid and lost interest so I don't even have info on where I got it from. I'm not sure how to learn it when I can't find any info on xiaos with those extra holes 😢

They should be on the "back side" or the same side as the thumb hole at the top. It shouldn't make too much difference but that "hides" them from view while playing. They are just sound holes for tuning purposes. Some flutes have them while others don't.

Hi, which model of dong xiao do you recommend to start with?
@WuDaoMusic
@WuDaoMusic Год назад
Typically, G key is the most common and easy to learn with. This is because the spacing between the fingering positions is closer. I personally began with the F key (which is a little wider in spacing being one pitch lower) and I think it is also ok. If you are looking for a good quality xiao, I also source and sell them.
