In this short lesson, I'll show you how to create the most useful lights in Maya, how to display them in the Viewport along with shadows, and how to adjust their properties. Check out the whole series! • Maya 101 Created in Maya 2020
Thank you for this video, really educative. Although I don’t know how how to import a surface material. When I click on one of those it takes me to attribute editor then I’m stuck.
Okay so my images do not appear and the shadows all around my shape are blocks and ugly looking. As well as the intensity not being right when I use to area light I don’t know what to do help
@@Autodesk_Maya that would be a good thing to start the lession with. Remember, we know nothing, and all those little assumptions are making these lessons a bit difficult.
Try going to Windows > Settings > Plug-in Manager. In that editor, see if you can find an "mtoa" plug-in and activate it. If you can't find it, it means you skipped installing Arnold when you installed Maya so you'll need to re-install it.
Sounds like Arnold was installed, but perhaps its the wrong version of it was installed incorrectly. Try re-downloading from here www.arnoldrenderer.com/download/
@@quebix2288 Yeah sorry, I would try that. If you're still having problems after that, try posting on the AREA forums and someone with more installer knowledge than me can help you out.
@CANTECE PENTRU COPII You have to select the Skydome light to hide it. What he's showing at 1:43 is how to hide the Direction light and the Area light. You can hide the Skydome light the same way by clicking on it first and then Control H.
my skydome came out so massive it cant show the clouds properly like this, what needs fixing? it's basically a giant ball too big to even show the clouds
