Intro to Rulerwork: Quilting Straight Lines inside of Half Square Triangles

In today's video we are going to work on quilting straight lines within our half square triangles. This adds a second triangle within your HST.
I love this technique because the quilting stitch helps to accent the piecing and brings the pattern to life. Also depending on how many lines you put in each triangle, you can make the design look very fancy.
I'll be walking you through how to use the lines on your ruler to make sure to create consistent angles throughout the block, and show you how to mark your quilt top to make sure your point is in the same spot on each triangle.
For today's lesson we'll just add one set of lines within the HSTs, but we'll add more in the next video to make it fancy.

Beautiful design and super helpful. But it would be good to add, unless I missed it, that there is a low shank version of the ruler so that low shank machines can work on both sides of the ruler...as you can on a long arm or with a high shank machine..

Since you don’t like to use spray basting for your quilts due to smell, here is a powder basting product you might want to try (Quilters Select Free Fuse Powder 2.0oz With Dispenser Tube)..

Fascinating and so helpful. I have learnt so much today. Thank you. What is the advantage of outlining each triangle? Just seems to me to be easier to follow each line, less turning?

It's ultimately a personal preference but it helps highlight the piecing.
