Had my x2 for a week still getting used to it, but I do have few issues that I hope they improve on. They need to add one tab to be able to switch to vibrate instead of having to switch 5 or 6 tabs , hate the clip case in comes with; it’s very tough to hook up to my pants or anywhere else for that matter and I wish that I don’t have to disconnect my wiring in order to take pump out of case. They need to add a snap hook or anything else that it would make it easier to take it in and out of the case without disconnecting every time.
Hi Suzan, i get your struggle with the pump case! I ordered the "HipClip" from Nite Ize, took the case off and placed the clip directly on the back of the tslim. It's much less bulky and you can clip it on your belt or any jeans pocket for example :) just a tip. I love it. Greetings, Stella
i've used x2 tslim for over five years and i love it. my biggest gripe, and i can't imagine they wouldnt make it better, is the bluetooth range is HORRIBLE. if my dexcom is on other side of body from where my pump is it can get disconnected easily
Complaining about a rechargeable battery(with Inductive charging capability at that), in favor of having to always buy and carry around replacement batteries simply blows my mind. Maybe I could interest you in a cassette deck as well.
The Mobi is a piece of garbage since it can only be ran by an Apple iPhone which are typical Apple overhype garbage as all Apple devices are and you have to use any smartphone is silly they should have a way of using it without a cellphone not everyone have smartphones or like myself I rarely keep my phone with me it almost always stays in my car or in my bedroom but I don't live on my phone and even if I lost it it wouldn't be that big a deal other than my music on it
I hope that down the line that the refilling can be improved, and that the infusion device can be made to take abit more stress but the low blood sugars at night especially have gone which really why I think the pump is worth it
you shouldn't bother mentioning the transfer speed difference in the USB port. it doesn't matter the pump is transferring such small amounts of data. The relevant features are the flippable plug and significantly faster charging. Also a USB-C port does not automatically mean it is using the faster interface. it's just a plug type. USB is confusing. The data transfer point you brought up is incorrect.
The biggest I hope they include is new Bluetooth technology. They use very old outdated Bluetooth In the x2 and it very often loses connection to my dexcom.
I'm on the tandem x2 and I love my pump but I am also looking forward to when they will come out witb the tandem x3 PUMP I believe it will make our lives with diabetes easier and less stressful. If they could come out with the infusion sets and pump to deliver wirelessly with no tubing would be a HUGE GAME CHANGER.
As someone who just started the freestyle libra 2 and have had the dexcom g6. Insulin pumps have been peaking my interest. The only thing that stops me is when I'm told the price for the pump, then how much all the supplies are. I love the reviews as I like to learn. Keep up the good work!!👍
Thanks so much! I definitely hear what you are saying and agree 100%. Years ago I was on a different insurance and when I found out the monthly cost of a pump, I was stunned, it was going to be twice the cost of my monthly car payment. Its definitely a factor for many people and I hope it gets better because these pumps can help make diabetics lives so much easier and help them to improve their control immensely. Thanks for the comment!
@@diabetesdailydigest I wouldn’t have given it much thought, but it was my endocrinologist who gave me that info. He said everyone he’s worked with at Tandem is gone.
Thank you for the video. It is very helpful. I am right now switching to the X2 after 4+ years with a Medtronic 670g. (Training is tomorrow.) I don't think most of the announced changes that will come with the X3 will be particularly significant when the X3 is released. I suspect the updates will become more significant over time as Tandem releases more advanced algorithms--and Tandem will likely release them only for its most advanced pump to avoid the cost of multiple certifications by regulatory authorities. USB-C port A USB-C port does allow for faster data and power transmission, but does not mean that the X3 will have hardware that fully utilizes USB-C capabilities. An insulin pump has a much smaller battery than does a cell phone, and thus can charge much more quickly, so there is less incentive to use cutting-edge technology to speed up charging. Speeding up transmission of glucose data to a phone or computer program for analysis is always appreciated. I haven't done it yet with my new X2, but it is maddeningly slow with my 670g. Hopefully, the process is faster with an X2 and will be faster still with an X3. Wireless data input Programming updates are infrequent because of the need for FDA approval in the US and equivalent approvals in other countries. Regulatory approval, not attaching a data cord, is the limiting factor on software updates. Upgraded CPU, memory and storage. A more capable processor (hopefully coupled with more memory and data storage) will allow for more sophisticated algorithms. It is unlikely though that algorithm updates currently in development will exceed the limits of the X2. More likely, Tandem is upgrading the computing power in the X3 because more powerful components are now available at a lower cost than when the X2 was released. Introducing the hardware upgrades before needed avoids Tandem the scramble of trying to get both hardware and software changes approved at the same time by regulatory authorities. Algorithms The REAL issue for me, and probably for most users, is how soon, and by how much, the algorithms can be improved in a manner that helps us keep tighter control on our glucose. The real limiting factor on updated algorithms is probably not hardware, but the fear that a more automated pump might unexpectedly inject excess or inadequate insulin without the patient's intent or knowledge. Unfortunately, Tandem's statements on the X3 are very limited as to the next generation of algorithms after Control-IQ. That is not surprising since more advanced algorithms are dependent on regulatory approval, liability concerns, and the capabilities of new CGM systems.
Does the algorithm allow for auto-bolus in response to your blood glucose going high? I have gastroparesis and I often have to take a correction dose of insulin upon waking around 2am with a high blood glucose and it would be wonderful if the pump could deal with that. I have been a type 1 diabetic for over 50 years and currently MDI.
I know that it's tough with gastro, but a better solution would be for you to modify your evening meal contents and sequencing so that your stomach can pass the carbs into your intestine soon enough that you can make a manual correction if necessary before bedtime. Particle size and solubility are what determine how quickly the stomach can empty. If the carbs pass faster, you may be able to avoid nocturnal hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia and get a full night's sleep unless the pump can't handle it without help. The pump is NOT a golden bullet and it depends on the CGM which is far from perfect. To get good results, it's the same as with any other diabetes therapy. The user has to be willing and able to make rational changes to their lifestyle, and understand how to fully utilize and troubleshoot the results. The technology is not perfect. At best it can help me get better results with less hypo. At worst it will nag me mercilessly if I get out of range, and sometimes spuriously when the CGM isn't stable. It's like a spouse that never sleeps. The current version of Control IQ is designed to minimize hypoglycemia during the night not hyperglycemia. It has a sleep mode that allows glucose levels to fall naturally using the night basal settings, it disables auto bolusing and can increase or decrease BASAL delivery rates. To make the pump do what you want you'd have to disable night activity schedules and lose the benefits of lower overall BG and higher TIR that Control IQ is designed to provide.
As far as I know the Tslim x2 is currently available in Canada. With the X3, thats a good question, we'll have to see as the year goes on if they release some new info.
Im going to be getting the x2 in a month or two. Should I wait and stick with injections until the x3 comes out? Does tslim plan on supporting the x2 or do they switch everyone to x3?
I would just get the X2 for now. It unfortunately may be a while before the X3 is out. Although Tandem hasn't officially announced it, most pump companies are offering free upgrades as long as you're on the previous model. Medtronic did it with the 770g to upgrade to the 780g and Omnipod did it with a free upgrade from the Dash to the Omnipod 5. Hopefully Tandem will do the same.
@@markmagoo275 Could you tell us why? I am curious to know why someone is finding fault with the T-Slim X2. What is it doing that you are not happy with and thinks need to be improved.
I wouldn't wait more than a month. The X3 may not be out for a year or more. If you're already using a Dexcom CGM, then learning how to use its data to get better control of your BG through lifestyle modification BEFORE you start with a Tandem pump will make your onboarding experience easier. If you aren't already using a Dexcom CGM, then start ASAP.
The x2's processor is sleeping most of the time. The new algorithm isn't much more computationally intensive so threading and multiple processor cores still aren't needed. The new processor may just be a lower power draw version of the current one. The biggest hardware changes will probably be the screen, and the battery chemistry. The amount of storage has to be further increased to handle storing a second, complete image of the OS to permit wireless updating and possibly more than one brand/model of CGM.
I was hoping for external battery. I can carry batteries in an emergency in my pocket but a charger is more annoying. I also wanted it to have water resistance comparable to medtronics pumps
Having to recharge the pump is a killer. Swappable AA would be much better. Having 3ml reservoirs that don't really provide full 3ml is also a major weakness. Ideally 7 day infusion sets would be a plus.
My husband loves the rechargeable option and recharges while in the shower every day. Gets fully charged during that short time. Medtronic's AA battery was a real pain, especially when in a place not near a battery or store (like our boat in the middle of the lake!).
@@kstnay But remembering to bring extra batteries is no different than remembering to bring the tandem charger with you onto the boat, so how are batteries more of a pain? They're arguably less of pain because you can buy AA's anywhere in the world, and the AA lasts weeks, as opposed to daily charging. That feature just seems like an all around pain in the ass. I may have to get a tandem but I'm a little worried about it.
@@MrFallred first off, we always have power outlets and odds and end cables for phones and such in the boat and the Tandem lasts at least five days without charging. We don’t spend five days on the boat! 😊 It’s just so simple to top off a charge every day in the shower. I can name at least 3X that we forgot extra batteries for the 680g. It really messed up our boat day. We have never had that problem with the Tandem. Aside from refilling the cartridge, the Tandem has been far superior in my husband’s opinion. His control is light years better.
i've got another year and a half on my tandem x2 pump and this pump will probably come out around the time my pump warranty will be up. I almost definitely going with the tandem x3 insulin pump. The tandem pump is the best pump I've ever had. I have had about 3 different pumps since I've been a juvenile diabetic. The Tandem mobi will be a lot smaller but I like the graph on the pump so i can look at the graph to see how my sugars are doing. IF you like something smaller and compact then go with the TAANDEM MOBI it is all a preference on what you as a diabetic like and what fits your needs.
