What is even more exciting is that this can be filled through pharmacy. OMG that Is a game changer for me. Thank you Justin for this video.

Definitely something I would use! I am looking into getting my first pump setup and there is just so much out there to research that it is kinda crazy. With my insurance, I will have to foot a good portion of the cost initially as well as every 3 months for supplies. Who knew staying healthy as a T1D that it would be be like paying for a car monthly that you will never ride or drive. :)

*CORRECTION: Sequel would like to clarify a misstatement in the original video. The twiist pump, when connected to the disposable cassette has a rating of IP28, indicating protection from continuous immersion in water. The pump can tolerate immersion to depths of up to 12 feet (3.7 m) [not 25 feet] for 1 hour. *

Yes, I would absolutely be willing to give it a try. If it’s coming through pharmacy instead of the company, sounds like that might be more affordable and possibly not locked in for 4-5 years. I currently use the Omnipod5 or both of these reasons, but have had a bad adhesive reaction to it and limited where I can use the pump. I’ve already been thinking about switching to a different one, but just not happy with how large they are being a tubed pump. I wear mostly dresses and skirts and this would be a lot easier to deal with as far as not always having pockets. I am excited and can’t wait for its release hopefully this year. Thank you for sharing!

I very nearly stopped using it myself (I've been using it since 2014) because I could only wear the pod on my arms or legs (but legs were not an option because of years of MDIs and absorption problems). I tried just about every barrier out there and none of them worked even to the point of spraying antihistamine sprays on my skin which some people swore worked for them. I did eventually find a barrier wipe that works for me and now I can use the pod on my torso therefore being able to use it on different sites which I couldn't do before. It uses silicone in the ingredients and that seems to be the game changer for me. It's also slightly tacky after it's on, so that also helps the pod stick a bit better. I'm aware that it might that I'm advertising something but I promise I don't work for the company, I just love the wipes so much because it's meant I don't have to go over to a tubed pump. I'm in Canada and I used to buy this barrier wipe from the USA until they stopped selling outside the USA a short while ago, though the barrier wipe was available in the UK too. They have a similar product now in Canada (in fact though it's a different name, the packaging is almost identical) and so I can buy it from a company not too far away from where I live. You are lucky; here we have only literally this week had the Omnipod5 approved in Canada and God alone knows when we will actually have it available to use. Here in Canada we are light years behind every other country, each time we get some new diabetes tech. It is very frustrating.

I have been on Omnipod, & have liked it for the most part. IT is definitely, an great improvement over injections. I am going to be trying the Tandem Mobi that's coming out soon. It is covered better by my insurance. It is small, you might want to check it out in the meantime.

I loved this video. Thank you to you both for making it. 1. I'd love to see a video comparing DIY loop, iAPS, Omnipod 5, and AAPS algorithms. 2. I'd love to learn more about the infusion set for the twiist pump, such as length of tubing and angle of insertion. Will the infusion sets be stainless steel or plastic? 3. When the pump is launched because they are working with iPhone, does that mean you'll have to have an iPhone to use the twiist pump and it's algorithm? I loved hearing they'd be open to incorporating the iAPS or AAPS into their algorithm.
@diabe_tech
@diabe_tech 2 месяца назад
Thank you for these suggestions/ideas! I am working to get a video on algorithms....stay tuned for that. Def going to do more Twiist content too. For twiist, you'll need an iPhone at first (algorithm runs on the pump and cgm connects directly to pump). iPhone app will be used to do extra controls, boluses and more. Hopefully Android is next - Tidepool is working on Android and I assume that will speed up Sequel's app.

I wish this was coming out sooner! My first pump in fall of 1979 was an AutoSyringe. I had to adjust the basal rate by turning the dial with a screwdriver. Boluses were done by counting the beeps as you pushed the buttons.

Maybe this isn't available yet but I would love to have more info about how the cgm will work with this pump. Will this pump allow you to completely choose which alarms the user wants to access? Currently using Dexcom 6/tandem and the alarms are not just annoying but causing depression with the disruption of sleep and life due to lack of sleep.

I like the device, eager for an Android version. My favorite parts are it posture towards the community, 3 cc reservoir, swimmable, but even bigger is the pharmacy option. Since it is a tubed pump, could the infusion sets be through pharmacy as well?

I love that’s he was just like if it works then why not?! Seeing iAPS get approved and not have to jump through so many hoops to get the standard of care you want would be unreal. I’m saying this as I just had Dash denied by insurance, and sadly am having to use OP5, which if you’ve looped or used iAPS is a significant step down.

so does Mr. Lockton which has a background in pharmacy realize that going through the pharmacy a lot of people will not be able to use the twist the same as the Omni Pod I loved it but because it threw me in the donut hole within three months there are lots of people are not going to be able to use the twist if I'm wrong about this please let me know I have had diabetes over 50 years had several different pumps going through the pharmacy is a great idea but that donut hole is a disaster

2 BIG Questions (Please number replies “1.” and “2.”: 1. You mention bringing on an Android app (~20:53-21:53, mm:dd). Is mySugr a possibility (already has Apple and Android apps) for Android use with the Twiist insulin delivery system? 2. What about using Twist with only a CGM for bolus insulin deliveries AND long-acting, once-daily injections of long-acting basal insulin (e.g., Tresiba, Lantus or their generics). Why? Well, many type 1s find basal control with Tresiba or Lantus spot on, and it’s really only the meal/snack boluses that cause trouble. Not to mention the “~36 hr. basal buffer” “insurance” Tresiba or Lantus provide.
@ForceFreeTrainergirl06
@ForceFreeTrainergirl06 2 месяца назад
for me it was exactly the opposite. Being on Lantus for years with MDIs it was a nightmare. It was only once I went on the Omnipod that things got better. My Endo said that it was obvious having basal being drip fed into my system as fast acting insulin was what my body needed. She said that she found a good percentage of her patients had better control this way, than using Lantus which is problematic for many people. For me,Lantus meant having hypos virtually every single night between 2 and 4am no matter how high my bg was before I went to bed and no matter how it was adjusted. The first night on the Omnipod, no hypos and it's been like that for 10 years since I started.

Very sad to see that the algorithm is old and built in but if this allowed for external Bluetooth app control and worked with iAPS then it would be good. But it can’t do that, which dooms it to be worse than Omnipod DASH.
