Stars Kennedy McMann, Bethlehem Million and Felicity Huffman and executive producers David Shore and Liz Friedman talk about debuting "The Good Lawyer" on "The Good Doctor" MON MAR 13 10/9c on ABC.
This episode is sooo ridiculously good! I really hope this specific episode gives a spin off show of it’s own and hopefully have cross over. It’s gives such joy and life to see different people in different ways of life (“outside of the norm”). It really makes me reflect as a ADHD person and hope to see someone on TV like myself one day. I’m so grateful for the writers and everyone who thought of this direction.
This would have been an excellent show. I swear tv producers have no brain. The good doctor lost views because th pushed a progressive liberal tone throughout the show. I will say it's somewhat minot. But it is annoying.
I just watched the episode where they introduce The Good Lawyer on The Good Doctor. As soon as I watched it I thought it was absolutely brilliant and needs to be its own show. The two female leads were amazing and we could instantly tell they were meant to be main characters. There story line and introduction also made me feel emotionally attached to them and I was constantly rooting for them! I am so sad they did not continue with the show, definitely would have been a brilliant one!
@@jonascastejon5888I believe they were talking about how this episode titled “The Good Lawyer” was supposed to be an introduction to a new series of the same name. But it got axed last year due to the writers’ strike.
I was sad that Nancy drew is ending this year but happy she found a new role on an even bigger network on a show that already has an established audience, so happy for her! This is going be huge!
Once again My America gone with a hit like the South Korean. First it was Good Doctor with Joo Won and Moon Chae Won 2013 mega hit. Recommend it to everyone. And Good Lawyer (Extraordinary Attorney Woo) with one of my favorite young actresses Park Eun Bin. Love it ❤❤
PLEASE! please do the good lawyer series!! Joni is so cutie and charismatic and this episode was so perfect! It would be a wonderful series. 😭❤❤❤❤🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
This reminds me of Extraordinary Attorney Woo. I love that show! As a lawyer, I'm really tired of lawyers on TV being (mostly) portrayed as a robotic corporate suit or an Atticus-type barrister. This could be fresh!
@@My-Channel_forever Too many. One that deserves more credit is THE NIGHT OF. John Turturro does an AMAZING job of portraying a criminal defence lawyer who is juggling his personal issues. I have met many lawyers in this type of position. Quite realistic. Great show!
I just saw this character on the episode of The Good Doctor and as someone who grew up with OCD I've never seen so much of that part of myself in a character. I am not usually personally moved by things but this hit me deeply and I'm actually in tears. Learning that Joni is played by someone who has personally experienced the same things makes me so grateful and explains why her character really can give insight to what people with this condition go through - my parents got me diagnosed as a child but were reluctant to even tell me, fearing I'd "use the label as an excuse", so that also means I got no professional help and worked through it alone. This episode highlighted issues that I didn't even know were attributable to my OCD, like the inability to prioritise and dismiss unimportant details (I literally can't figure out what to highlight and not highlight when studying). I've done quite well overcoming the worst of my symptoms but it's still had a huge impact on my career and also made me feel like I should just stick to the research side because it can be such a struggle to fight against your own brain. Anyway just super grateful to Kennedy McMann and I hope this series gets a good long run ❤ Thank you
@@sexydudeuk2172 yes, thank you - I did happen to watch the video (above) where it explains this before leaving my comment on said video, as well as mentioning that fact in my comment that you're replying to 👍
People think OCD isn’t a big deal & they so easily throw around that they also have it. They do this to so many mental health conditions & it’s frustrating. Mental health isn’t taken seriously. It just makes it worse when people just throw it around.
Yes! A common thing I’ve started noticing is also how people throwing around “I’m depressed” but when they see those videos of people cleaning their depression rooms/houses that have garbage, see people with tangled and knotted hair, people who haven’t showered in day/weeks, and go “I’ve been depressed but that’s just disgusting/lazy”. Part of the diagnostic criteria for depression is a depressive episode that causes severe distress or dysfunction in your life, and those “gross” things are common with those with depression. Obviously that along with suicidal ideation/thoughts/planning. I feel “I’m depressed” has been so normalized as a phrase in replacement with “I’m sad right now” that it waters down what depression really looks like.
Have you ever seen Rain Man or As Good As It Gets? Not sure sure if those are considered to be bad or inaccurate examples of OCD, but they are two of earliest examples I can think of with major stars in them.
@@melaniealdrich5304 Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt, Cuba Gooding Jr, Greg Kinnear, Skeet Ulrich. Great cast. Was kind of a big deal back when it came out.
I haven't seen every movie or TV show about dealing with OCD or anxiety. Rain Man and Monk are about it. But like I said it's a good lawyer looks to be the the most I can relate to.
I am so seriously rooting for The Good Lawyer spinoff with Kennedy McMann. She was A M A Z I N G in this episodes and the idea of building a GOOD Universe is a great one! @ABCNetwork, make it happen! We will definitely be watching. #TheGoodLawyer
Same here! I love The good Doctor and immediately fell in love with the Joni character. I can't wait to start watching The Good Lawyer. Bring on the Shore-iverse!
I was born in Thailand and I'm looking forward to it. Lawyer repeats it over and over. Just the additional episode makes me look forward. You acted in just one episode and it brought out so many emotions. Really good.
At first, I was skeptical when ABC released the Good Doctor as it was inspired by the k-drama; "The Good Doctor". But they really expound the storyline which I really liked (also Freddie Highmore is an excellent actor). I hope The Good Lawyer will be just as great (^v^)
You have to give props to Daniel Dae Kim, who bought the rights after seeing the original, and put the show on his back when no one wanted to make it. The only sad part is that he stated he had to compromise on having an Asian lead to get the show picked up.
As soon as i finished the episode i googled it to see if there was a spin off about the lawyer. I'm glad there is one in the works. I'm totally up for it.
I have had debilitating OCD for years now and this episode made me cry because it was the first time I got to say “Hey she’s like me, I’m not the only one whose like this’, when all my life I’d been told the opposite
I honestly despise the good doctor just for how stereotypical it is in a lot of aspects, it’s a personal thing as an autistic person but this I’m actually excited for. They actually brought in a person with the condition to play a person with said condition and it looks great 😭
Used to like it a lot but it has gone so woke and predictably modern silly that this episode was a breath of fresh air. Main reason, it didn't have that pair of unbearable doctors, Jordan and Asher, and a wishy washy, rammed-down-one's-throat storyline!
i mean i get ur point. like my crazy ex gf did the super stereotypical/hollywood version of BPD but its called film. anything TV does w mental illness for all intents and purposes even when pure usually does more harm than good.
Question, why when “real people’s perspectives” are shown in media it is described as “woke” ? If you do not know anyone similar to Jordan or Asher then I understand the disconnect, but maybe give them a lil compassion an attempt to view the world through their eyes instead of removing them for what? Another hot blonde? I’ve personally really enjoyed what their stories have brought to the table because it’s showing more REAL LIFE stories on tv.
I like the Good Doctor series but I absolutely LOOOOVED this episode! There is so much to build on - what happened to Joni’s mother when she was young, how did she study law and what challenges did she overcome before her first ever trial, and of course who will she fall in love with. So many super interesting potential plot lines ❤❤❤
Am so in love with this episode that I HV watched it 3 times can't wait to see what the Good lawyer will do to me so excited.. please 🙏 let this not be a lay but true that a spin off is being made out of this
The good doctor is great to watch...now with the introduction of the good lawyer , we will have 2 great days in a week hopefully , if not the same day.
Love Kennedy, I struggle with pretty severe OCD mixed with emetophobia so obviously proud to see her representing OCD in a more in-depth way than we usually see on shows, hope The Good Lawyer gets picked up so we can see more!
Love the good doctor and it looks like the good lawyer will be a great show, I really liked the good doctor meets the good lawyer, I hope they come out with it. 😊
I just watched the episode and I thought it was weird how much importance these new characters received but I get it know XD. It looks interesting, wanna watch it for sure.
As a law student, I love watching hospital shows because I can sort of distance myself from the characters' professional ambitions, but I get giddy when I see lawyers portrayed on screen. Everyone seems to think they know what we're like and how we think. The reality is so different. I'm not sure I'll be able to handle the inevitable stereotypes.
i have both autism and ocd, i like the good doctor and i am excited to see the good lawyer show. because the way that shaun thinks is the same way i think and joni's ocd is, is like how my ocd is.
I love that I just saw 2 Sorkin players in one scene there. (I have mixed feelings about Ms. Huffman now. But everyone makes mistakes and bad choices sometimes. As crimes go, that was a pretty mild one, broadly speaking).
Extraordinary Attorney Woo? Original the Good Doctor is Korean TV series .. so now they make another one into a America TV shows . The Good Doctor is one of my favorites TV show, I hope The Good Lawyer is good too !🤞
