I just received my new Mini Pickle Pot and I think it’s perfect! I didn’t receive the instructions with mine though 🤭😔 ….AND I was able to buy it on sale. Yay! I wish it were a bit bigger though because I do love making cuffs and need a bit more space - I just flip from end to end now. Great video as always. I went to buy mine right after I saw your video just before the Black Friday sales. TY! 👩🏼‍🎨🌵🔨

looks like a nice unit, only problem it is Durston which means it is ridiculously over priced.

Hi Melissa, Thanks for this video. It's timely for me as I was just looking into adding a Smart Plug to my power supply to my pickle pot in case I'm out of the house and realize I forgot to switch off my power bar. My current pot is a mini crock pot and it has no on/off switch. I like that the Durston base has a switch. My pot is plugged into a power bar, so I have to switch the whole bar off or unplug the pot. Do you think the Durston pot would be a better option in this set up? Due to the electrical configuration of my space, the pickle pot must be plugged into a power bar or extension cord. A second question I have is your rinse water. It "looks" like you just use plain water after pickling. I use baking soda in my water as a neutralizer. So, I can skip the baking soda?

I like that it has the on off switch at the base for the reasons you mentioned. And it is actually baking soda and water. I always dunk into baking soda after a good pickle session.

I typically use Ph- or Ph down. It is a swimming pool chemical

Are you sure it does have thermostat? I have just recived mine and it takes very long time to heat up - about 45min to get up to 65C but the problem is it doesnt stop heating, After 1h30 min it has reached 78C and I dont know if its broked or false/misleading marketing...

I would reach out to Durston and ask. I will have to do some more testing on mine to see if it is doing what yours is.

@@MelissaMuir Thank you. I have sent them an email and waiting for response. To be honest I dont expect any reply becasue some time ago I have trouble with other Durston product and they didnt anwser my emails.

@@MelissaMuir after few emails with durston support I got my anwser. The unit doesnt have any thermostat. Item description is misleading. This type of construction will reach different temperatures depending on room temperature. Its not good design, false advertisement and lies. It is also very overpriced for what it is. I have returend my unit to the shop where I bought it from.
