Awesome project! Thanks for what you do for our veterans. Holler at me if you want to host a disabled vet for a day or two helping on the project. I would love to help.
Fun fact: 35 or so of these cars were sold right to civilians by Criswell automotive via a loophole in their contract with GM. They basically pulled an old school COPO with it. GM found out and wagged their fingers and changed the contract.
@@thegonz7833 Why would knowledgeable fabrication for stronger and more reliable parts with a better aftermarket following be considered "dicking around"? That Cadillac 9.5 diff is not stronger, nor does it have the aftermarket backing of say a ford 9 inch center section, or even a winters quick change set up.
The diff itself is fairly strong, 5th gen camaro diff (stronger) should bolt in if it is the same as the g8 diff. As for the paddle shifters- in the G8 a couple guys used gen5 camaro factory paddles, and used a couple of the spare wires in the ribbon spool cable under the airbag and tapped in to the manual shift triggers in the factory shfiter (it has a bumpshift +/- mode factory)
Your new car is officially the second one of those cars that I have ever seen before!! That's a bad ass slate you are starting with for sure!! Keep up the good work!!
Holden is an acronym over in Oz - Holes Oil Leaks Dents Engine Noises. Yes I'm a Ford man, but love watching your work, and the cars you work on all the same
It's a good thing you are getting her a cam. Those CPPVs tend to have had a lot of time idling, which as you know can make a cam lobe look a lot more cylindrical than ellipse shaped.
Jermey, if you want to have the rumblers to work you have to have a siren to be able to get it to work, spent years outfitting police and fire trucks, contact Code 3 or and other light company’s to get a siren to control the speakers
Brother man, you need to make sure you swap out the oil pump too because it's a high pressure pump to work with those lame lifters. Block valley plate needs to be changed as well. If oil pump is not swapped out you will have loads of black smoke because oil pressure regulator will spay loads of oil on the cylinder wall causing excess oil burn. Looks like loads of fun. Good luck
YES!!! I was SO hoping you'd rock the caprice to battle neighbour. I'm sure you have plenty of us aussies as fans and this will be great to see. That being said we sure do hate losing, so get norman on it!
Wish it was a 95 9c1 caprice, that would've walked the crown vic stock for stock any day and I think it would be awesome to see that comparison in old big 4 door cars going at it lol
Enjoy your videos greatly! We own a small LS based shop here in Alvarado Texas and typically do off the wall builds. Can’t wait to see what you do with this unit
You're right, it is indeed a LWB VE/VF Commodore. Awesome to see a Holden Caprice getting some love in the US :D You might find that a Chevrolet SS shifter will work in this car, thus giving you +/- shifting. As for paddles, again, the Chevy SS steering wheel (which has paddles) might work on this vehicle. However as the PPV is built to base Commodore specs, the wiring might not support shift paddles. Edit: LOL, yeah, the car can run up & down curbs up to 60km/h. That was one of the specifications for the PPV. Funny side note: the LWB Commodore used to go to China as a Buick Royaum, fitted with a 4cyl diesel.
This straight from wiki From 2011 to 2017, the Caprice name plate returned to North America as a full-size, rear wheel drive police vehicle, a captive import from Australia built by General Motors's subsidiary Holden-the police vehicle is a rebadged version of the Holden WM/WN Caprice.[1] The nameplate also had a civilian and police presence in the Middle East from 1999 to 2017, where the imported Holden Statesman/Caprice built by Holden was marketed as the Chevrolet Caprice in markets such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
This is going to be a awesome project. I've always liked these cars and it's nice to see one about to get the magic power sprinkles added to it. Can't wait to see it run against neighbor
Yep you’ve talked me into it!!! DOD delete cam headwork hp tuner.... I’ll get in contact with you for some tuning. Also that NC/TN border on interstate 26 is 30 minutes from my house great area!
It's so funny how much you look like Abe Lincoln, even in a ball cap. All B.S. aside, i am very excited to see you build this Amero/ Aussie bowtie. Big fan of the V8 supercar racing. Good video
Those rumblers are loud but they are very bassy as far as siren speakers go. They are intended to cause vibrations in cars for those that listen to their radios to loud and such. Plus they are fairly heavy if your trying to ditch unneeded weight that would be a good place to start aside from the fact that weight in the back helps with traction...
love the videos man just like cleetus your just a normal guy opening your life up to the world and not trying to impress anyone. thats why i will continue to watch your videos. im sure this car is alot lighter than the vic and when you get done sprinkling some timing at here will give neighbor a run for his money lol!
Gonna be interesting to see what you do with a WM Statesman. Look to the Australians (mainly Harrop Engineering and Walkinshaw) for inspiration. They are an absolute barge. HSV did a worked and specced out version called the Grange with an LS3 and 400 odd HP out of the crate.
also. i believe paddles were an option on the later model Commodores. Not sure how the left hand vs. right hand drive stuff goes, but i would have thought the paddles should swap right in as most of the running gear would be identical.
How did it get so fu€ked up? Wow! Can't wait to see the transformation!! CTS-V rear wont fit, ZL1 will.....I'm sooooo excited!!!! Also can't wait for the new Cleetus C5 engine build. Who knows, maybe your new rig.......maybe. ......eventually has a 7 in it too😁 Love your channel.
Sweet! pretty cool idea and in house! awesome! there are a couple of things though... one is i think many might agree but if Neighbor is a plain white wrapper...then Uncle Sam has to be one of those men in Black. just saying you already have the black front and rear and window edges ;) that odometer may read 77k on it, but that engine has at least 177k ilde miles on it. if not more as it spends far more time at idle to keep the puters and radios up and running. so all the seals and gaskets and hoses are far more along the breakdown process then the miles indicate. sweet ride and its gonna give Neighbor a run for his money for sure! just thought i would add that last part for those considering a cop car project to be aware of possible maintenance issues the odometer wont tell. FasterProms resident Techno Wizard of course knows his stuff!
hell yeah, ive got a Bagged 04 holden statesman but been wanting a WM shape for a while talking about crazy caprice's. I HIGHLY recommend searching up MUTINY caprice
Since neighbor has the long ratio tr6066 maybe this car will need a short ratio tr6066 in order to compete with gear ratios a little better. I expect 800 hp in the long run lol
Why not a Zl1 diff and cradle? Bolts right in just have to cut spare tire well. I have a vid of it being installed on my GXP on my channel. Awesome diff..
