Murder By Proxy is a 1954 noir thriller co-produced by Hammer Films and Robert L Lippert, released in the UK by Exclusive Films, and in the US by Lippert as Blackout. It stars Dane Clark and Belinda Lee, and was directed by Hammer legend Terence Fisher.

In 2012, I provided a number of filmed introductions for the new official Hammer RU-vid channel, including this one - which was originally posted alongside the film on 18 January 2013. The video hasn't been available for several years, and is provided here for education and reference purposes.
I was then serving as Hammer's webmaster and official archivist, and this was among the last projects I worked on for the company in my role.
The picture is from a low-res SD source, and deliberately filmed on a micro-budget in academy ratio and black and white, to echo the way that many viewers would have encountered the film on its release (Murder By Proxy was filmed for both wide and standard screens). At some point I hope to revisit these intros - a decade on, with a good deal more broadcasting experience, and I'm sure I could do a better job!

It’s Hammer, it’s the great Terence Fisher it’s a classic. Also heard Mark Kermode talking about Belinda Lee recently and she definitely shines here.
