It always peeved me when people use “anti-social” to refer to introverts because it is associated with bad people or people who do things that aren’t seen as acceptable or good. I’m glad you made this video. In calling me “antisocial” and not “asocial,” it’s pretty much baselessly accusing me of being a person who doesn’t respect people’s rights and causing crimes. It accuses me of being manipulative, lacking of self-awareness, heavily bigoted, and arrogant.

I agree as somebody that shares traits of being antisocial and never having indulged in drugs/alcohol and other substances or broken property of somebody else's, i felt extremely targeted. Everyone that knows even the slightest bit about me know that I would never vandalize their things or not return it to them in a timely manner. I have however felt no fear or dissatisfaction. I have also never felt happy over an achievement either. Rather it makes me feel like I need to get more because of no satisfaction. The point is that I agree with your statement.

I do for a fact have aspd,npd and cptsd and media don't help neither so called "empath advocate " and stuff ,people who label ,armchair diagnosed someone n stuff ..it never help anyone but harm. nobody choose to have personality disorders neither prolong childhood traumas. . Its mainly the reasons cluster b personality disorders can't get help in the first place.i don't blame you for your ignorance but you can research more and ask questions to learn. God can't people do better and learn more than blaming based on the media. Its basically blaming game at this point ,it would be nice that they don't share false information . We are just human beings..and some of us have brain that can't really function as a neurotypical.( Aspd, npd,bpd,ptsd..etc are all neurodivergent ) I have a Lack of empathy but I can do cognitive empathy. Nobody ask to have a lack of empathy,we just have to live with it. And to be honest I meet people with empathy that are literally assh0les and creeps

I can't speak for or against the accuracy in these descriptions of ASPD, but I love that you show it in a sympathetic light. I'm at this point proudly both introverted and anti-social. There was a point where I was Just introverted, but the pre-judgements of others leading to an inability to ever find that close knit group of friends has turned me anti-social. If people are convinced they don't need me in their life without ever having spoken to me then I see no reason to convince them otherwise because I wouldn't want someone that flippantly shallow in my life to begin with.

Antisocial behavior runs in my family, and as an introvert it was really hard to go and meet new people because I moved to a new place early on and only really had my immediate family as peers to learn from. By the time I was finally going out to meet new people I had basically already learned a lot of bad behavior but thought that it was 'normal' because of my low exposure to others and the frequency of it within my home. It took me an embarrassingly long time to even consider why I was struggling so hard to interact with people and form friendships, and it turned out that I had a literal stew of issues going on that all coagulated into a really awful mess of a human being. The anger is very real in the moment of an outburst but I definitely feel guilty and ashamed after the fact. It creates a really horrible feedback loop of insecurity about your self-worth as a human being leading you to feel alone and vulnerable in social interactions, which in turn makes acting in antisocial manners feel like it's empowering you to 'cheat' your way out of having to play on equal terms with the other people. Then you feel bad for acting that way after you realize that you hurt someone's feelings and wonder why you're so messed up and it slowly repeats itself over time. I don't like living like this. I want to have someone, anyone that I can keep close to me, but I know that eventually I'll turn on them and hurt them. Being alone is the only thing that feels safe.
@featherofajay4667
@featherofajay4667 Год назад
I'm sorry that you had to grow up like that. Just know that many people hurt other people's feelings unintentionally to a varying amount. Apologizing and trying to learn is the best thing you can do, and you are definitely reflective enough to be able to do that. Although it's cliché: don't be afraid to make mistakes - most people are able to forgive them and will do so. If you spend time with other people, you can learn from them and grow from your interactions.

This video is definitely an important topic that i'm glad you guys took a moment to explain. Given your own descriptions, which i find very well constructed, it's important to express that a core fundamental is the emotional attachment. An introvert, if anything, treats people like they were something to treasure, even if they find mentally difficult to be on a big crowd, those one or two friends are their world and will put their energy on them. An antisocial just doesn't have it in them to have that attachment. I don't wanna say they hate other human being, but as the party example, they will not put others in any consideration of them. I loved this video just by principle.

I am an introvert. Yet, I still wonder, at times, if a person is an introvert or simply dissatisfied, with a good portion of their life experiences, particularly, as the world moves towards a harsher, more competitive, more narcissistic place. I also wouldn’t be pressured at all, about anyone calling me antisocial. I know what they mean, even if they have the word wrong and what they often mean is that, I am wrong for not being an extrovert and completely giving of myself. They seek to abnormalize me being comfortable in my own skin and want to make me feel like I need fixing. That is often so, in this current dynamic, where people are being forced to return to the workplace, under the idea of “collaboration”. Also, if extroverts don’t care for introverts, I’m pretty sure they can find plenty of extroverts to be with.

I'm also an introvert, and at work I do like social interactions with my colleagues if the group is not too big. But I tend to blame myself for not socializing more (or being asocial at times) because I miss out opportunities to hang out with colleagues outside of work to get to know them better... it's like they plan to hang out and I didn't know they did until it already happened. I am also kinda shy to take the initiative, but I do hope it comes with time. So for me it has been hard to make friends at work.

As an introvert myself, have a theory about #3. People who are depressed and repeatedly have negative thoughts tend to have a history of child abuse. Lack of social interaction is another known result of child abuse. I suspect a good number of introverts are introverts as a result or nurture instead of nature. When I was a small child child, I could be described as an extrovert until I grew up. My answer to #3 is that kids who are abused are likely to become introverts and depressed at the same time.
@libera7161
@libera7161 2 года назад
Yep, definitely. I was left alone since I was a toddler. This definitely counts as child abuse. So I was so often alone in my childhood that I got used to it, and too much social interactions in a day can be draining to me.
@-mushroomqueen-8433
@-mushroomqueen-8433 Год назад
As someone who lacked friends throughout a large part of childhood I used friendship as a way to validate myself. I started making bonds with tons of people because it made me feel important. So maybe it can also be due to isolation and then sudden bursts in attention.
@chelsthegameruiner8669
@chelsthegameruiner8669 Год назад
That explains why I'm an introvert. I was abused physically and verbally as a child, still got cigarette burns on the back of my head that my biological father caused. I only speak around my closest friends which is still small but we enjoy playing games like Destiny 2 together. The two newest members of my friend group were introduced to me back in 2022 during a raid run
@vision4860
@vision4860 Год назад
Your line of thought makes sense but I would add that it definitely doesn't have to be child abuse. I think it can just as easily be due repeated negative interactions with other children of the person's age range (and not even physically harmful, just if they hit emotionally in just the wrong way), even if that person's home life and family are great.
@BigFry9591
@BigFry9591 11 месяцев назад
I think it's correct in a way, but also incorrect. I'm also an introvert, and I believe that introverted feelings stem from lacking in some way socially, and looking down on yourself for that. This can come from child abuse, but can stem from other things as well. If you're bullied in school, you tend to keep to yourself and not try to grab attention from others that might also bully you. Or perhaps you fear being looked down upon or things changing, so you keep to yourself so as not to disrupt anything.

Since I am an introvert myself, it does make me feel weird that people can confuse it with ASPD 😐 How can there be not seen a difference between people who are comfortable in a small circle, and people, who might be not considereate towards others or not value attachment a lot? Maybe someone can enlighten me: I know there are statistically more extroverts than introverts. But how come that many people do not understand that some people are more calm than others? I really want to understand why being calm in a group often is understood as rejection by extroverts. Often, if they don't know me, they treat me like I have a disease. It was usually like that in high school, I was quite a sad teenager like that ._. Can a video be made on that topic?

I would guess it's because they are do not have the knowledge about introverts like us yet or antisocial people either to know what it is. It’s pretty hard for me to accept the fact that I’m an introvert after experiencing a lot of negativity from both family and people having made me believe that something was wrong with me for being unable to be as social as others. So I think that’s where the depression comes from in most introverts, because there’s a high chance that no one is going to explain to an introvert the way their mind works, and so we become lost in this loud world constantly thinking “wtf is wrong with me. why am I like this and not like the others.”

I think that there's another thing missing in the common understanding of being antisocial: not everyone that displays antisocial behavior lacks something! For instance, someone in an acute depressive phase can either be lethargic or be absolutely reckless. Moreover, he or she may no longer display empathy, because the person is currently even unable to care for themselves! More commonly, I think that people just reach their breaking point after being dealt a bad hand in life and just get tired to play along... Obviously, there are people who lack empathy by default, and some even lack fear, disgust, and shame... However, these cases are far rarer. Personally, I've met two people I would consider psychopaths and one who was officially diagnosed but I got my doubts about it. They were all very interesting people to be around and fun to hang out with. They didn't always choose violence or crime, but their moral compass was somewhat lackluster... The person I think was misdiagnosed actually seems to care about things other than himself, and is a quite friendly and outgoing person, but lacks a sort of agreeableness. It's impossible to peer pressure him into something he doesn't believe in/wants and he won't change his beliefs just to appease others. In contrast, one of those that I consider a psychopath was incredibly good at acting to become exactly the person you want to be around (a true social chameleon, but absolutely ruthless underneath her mask). The other one didn't bother whatsoever and clearly had the lowest level of agreeableness. However, he was more of an antihero, than evil incarnate. He did lack empathy, fear, disgust, and shame though... (and he didn't even try to hide it)

Jordan Peterson Explained Emotional and Psychological breakdown alongside Genetic Susceptibilities. Basically, in majorly traumatic phases of an individuals life, the individual may become psychologically distraught, and thus seek for a form of compensation( Perhaps through Drinking Alcohol, or irrationally Risky Behavior). This is the point where genetic susceptibility comes in within the variations of the population. Certain individuals may be more susceptible to certain vices, such as alcohol or drugs, as a result of past traumatic experiences, or genetic factors. I have been wondering about these things lately since I have grown up without a proper male role model and I feel like it has left me with deeper scars than I would like to admit, making it really hard to thrive in certain aspects of a normal life. Pretty sure I`m not the only one wondering about these things and your videos do make a really good job explaining simply all these different topics. I think the thing about introverts is that we tend to overthink (not all). Many introverts (again, not all) get social anxiety so they choose to interact with people they are familiar and comfortable with to avoid the anxiety. However the overthinking and anxiety doesn't just stop there. They may also overthink in general, which makes them more likely to have other mental disorders like depression.

Guess found out I’m antisocial introvert after watching this video. This makes me realize the time I was in a fight with my closest friend. And all of my behavior was in their point of view was “aggressive”. But the thing is I was unable to express how I feel; disappointment and sadness. But instead, violence and a passive aggressive behavior to let out of my emotions. And my other friends stopped me from hurting myself or playing with sharp blade (no, I did bring boxcutter for good reason; cut papers). And how my anger develops more and more until I want to do more things that is “too far” and beyond what a “normal” student should do. And how introvert really value the word “friendship”, and I, who often feels different from others but can feel at ease with two closest friends. And when I feel left out i can’t express how I’m sad but instead being anger of making feel me felt sad but can’t express it out. I’m still jealous of how they can cry and have people comfort while Im standing alone with all eyes on me. Unable to cry, but deep inside I want to scream out load and clear. -p.s I don’t know wether or not we’re good……
