I like that you brought up that IxxPs can look similar/mistype because of the dom Ji function. I've had this problem too and i keep going back and forth between the INxP types. I find that even if you use Fi, your thinking can seem like "logic" to you, and vice versa because it's all so internalized that it's hard to see the difference sometimes.
@PowerRedBullTypology
@PowerRedBullTypology 5 лет назад
Maybe it can help to explain your logic/reasoning to other people? While I may be wrong of course, it seems to me that Fi is harder to "translate" into words and still sound like typical logic to the other person, while Ti lends itself better for that?

Same thing for me here. I did the sakinorva cognitive functions tes, and it showed that my Ti and Fi are almost balanced( 30 points for Ti, 32 points for Fi), and I don't know if that's supposed to happen I can identify with some descriptions of Fi users about emotions, but I don't think that I have deeply strong values that I hold all the time, I don't think that I have that much consciouness about what I truly value internally, connected to subjective moral values, and I don't see myself as someone who really knows what I'm feeling in every situation , not wanting to be detached from feelings at any time But at the same time, I don't see myself fitting exactly the description of an Introverted Thinker. I understand and I see myself consciously doing some behaviors and descriptions of Introverted Thinkers, and I look more like a Ti user than an Te user, but I don't really know if I have a completely structured logical way of seeing things inside my head, I don't think that I'm always judging things by an internal subjective logic( In fact, I kinda struggle to understand what exactly people mean when they say that Ti users analyse every thing by a conscious internal logical framework).

@SpikeLawliet

I have a theory on Fi doms vs Te doms. While the axis is about achievement, Fi and Te want that achievement by following different strategies. The Te dom believes in an 'end justifies the means approach', in other words: Imposes the necesary structure and steps to achieve the desired goal. On the other hand, the Fi dom believes in 'the right means will lead to the right goal'. So a right goal might be desired but it is rarely at the cost of following undesired means. I also think that Te/Fi users in the middle stack (i.e. esfp, enfp, intj and istj) may have a more balanced approach between means and ends so to speak.
@PowerRedBullTypology
@PowerRedBullTypology 5 лет назад
Good theory! That seems consistant with what I observe in them. I love these sort comparisons between 2 functions like that (on the other end of the spectrum) cause like you said, it makes it possible to also understand what's in the middle (types more balanced in these things)

I completely relate to being an ISTP mistyping as an INFP (for more than a few years...) It didn't help that I am naturally a very "sensitive" girl, who is able to cry at anything lol, but how I FEEL in regards to something has never been that big of a deal to me (as opposed to "making logical sense", which has always been one of my main concerns).
@someonesomewhere6123
@someonesomewhere6123 3 года назад
For me (an fi-dominat) how I feel in regards to something has always been in the forefront to me because I AM my feelings- so myself feeling good and others feeling good has always been the most important thing to me. I also had fears in the past that my soul will die if I am not able to do what my feelings urge me to do. At the same time my feelings are often so overwhelming that I can't handle them and I have been having so many fears and insecurities that I am often unable to reach what will make me feel good. Another problem is that I sometimes feel like desperately wanting something and and at another time don't feel like I want it anymore. And sometimes I also feel like working for a goal will make me feel miserable and very good at the same time which also made it hard for me to make a move. Do you know what I mean? And my feelings control me: If I am too scared of something it will me very hard and sometimes almost impossible for me to do what I am scared of. When I am having a bad day I am being blown away by my feelings and are getting lost in negative and pessimistic thoughts. I also made the experience that psychological therapists/counselors often don't understand me but I guess I just never really explained to them what is going on inside my psyche and I also don't understand myself completely. And one time in the past I have been told that counselors might think my mental state isn't as bad because I can reflect myself and my feelings so well. Sometimes I feel like I am the only IXFP who has ever been to therapy. Like all the counselors in my home country Germany aren't used to IXFPs. Which I know is definitely not true but it seems like it is so.

As an ENTJ, that really resonated with me. I never know what to say when someone asks me “how I feel” about certain events that happen or things that people say to me. I genuinely don’t know what I’m feeling in most situations unless it’s something extreme like you said. And honestly don’t really care too much, it’s almost like a detachment from forming personal feelings and it’s helped me avoid a lot of situations where I should’ve been hurt a lot more than I was. This is a huge area of growth for me. Thank you for talking about the stereotype that inferior Fis are mean because I definitely consider myself to be a really nice person (with a strong personality) who DOES care about other people and does everything to help other people. In fact, I respect the Feelers that I know who are able to express their emotions honestly because it’s something I struggle with. I guess it also doesn’t help that I come from a family entirely of thinkers 😂

THANK YOU so much for this video. As an INFJ I've been literally crying about not having Fi on my stack and being confused about having emotions and feeling emotions (very strongly at times) . . . I relate a lot to not always knowing how I'm feeling and needing to write it, draw it, and enter into trance-like states to access my emotions at times. But the idea that I "don't have" Fi has been making me feel like a bad person. This video is such a relief!!!

True. Having FE instead of FI on our stacks makes us hard to know our own feelings tho 😔 They say it's a blessing tho since being empathetic is natural to us since FE is our secondary function so I guess we just need to be positive

I was typed an INFP the first time I took an MBTI test, but I'm actually very much an INTP. So, interesting to hear what you had to say about that. Personality theory has completely changed the way I look at people who just shrug when I ask, "why." I used to want to shake them and say, "NO! You HAVE to have a reason. Otherwise why are you doing/believing x, y, or z?" It's still physically hurts sometimes, but I get it.

David Hindman I recognize that individuals have preferences. Like why is green your favorite color? It may be difficult to verbalize a reason. I didn’t understand how someone could consciously, outside of fight or flight, choose to do something without reason. Even a flippant reason like I had the urge or that’s what I saw last time... Now that I write this I come back to my original conclusion that there is always a reason. It’s just for some people the reason is in a fact a feeling or whim or something that they had not consciously decided so it almost might as well been “nothing.”

I think that Ti dominants experience Fi in a way that makes them internalize their logical structures into "values." They subconciously value things a lot, but it's very uncomfortable to not have a sufficient, rational reason to take in a belief system. Fi doms, however, are the opposite. They may actually get offended by needing to rationalize their beliefs. INTPs thrive in rationalizing their values, it's what they CONSTANTLY have their mind on. It isn't even just values and beliefs, but everything they do requires analysis, comparing concrete facts with personal logic, and it can get tiring if we don't channel that into something. INFPs compare things by seeing if one thing is "moral," by seeing how it conflicts with their emotional ideologies. Basically, Fi seeks moral consistancy, and Ti seeks logical consistancy. However, there is a certain "dip" that each types enter in. The INTP will attempt to rationalize their beliefs while not understanding that they just simply *value* something. INFPs will often struggle to find reasoning for their beliefs, often starting off as emotional and calm, but delving into harsh, sharp criticism. This is immediately linked to Fe and Te, respectively. INTPs will basically try to earn pity from others in a dark spot. They'll start with calm, sharp criticisms, only to enter into inferior Fe: judging people based off ethics and societal values, becoming clingy and dependant, easily manipulated, and violently emotional. They'll be diplomatic because they can understand that not everyone has a well developed logic about them, only to emotionally outburst because of someone's stupidity. INFPs will start out calm and contained, being diplomatic and understanding because they know all opinions are valid, only to become critical, overly-efficient, unhealthily hardworking, dictatorial, and utterly focused on ordering their enviornment. But something I think a system line socionics dosen't understand(given how they define the role function,) that Ti and Fi, as well as Fe and Te, are unable to function without the other. You, as well as Harry from CPT, seem to understand that and I appreciate it so much.
@kyranstoecklin726
@kyranstoecklin726 2 года назад
That's all in fact very interesting and appealing to hear as an INTP. Typology (especially MBTI) is not as exact a science as I think many make it out to be. There has been no/very little empirical evidence of MBTI so all of this itself could be purely rationalized...

ENTJ: omg..... bossing me around is the one guaranteed way to get in a fight with me :( For other things, it usually takes me a few hours to a few days to figure out how I feel about it. So if someone steps on my boundaries, I’ll let it slide in the moment but then over time, it builds up this weird resentment that explodes maybe the 3rd or 4th time they do it D: at THAT point then it becomes conscious to me what I do and don’t want. I then memorize these things as patterns to be conscious of in the future.

I have a very good intp friend and we get along, like, extraordinarily well. I have only recently delved into the whole function stuff, and regaring what you said at the end, intp's struggle to, basically get their own emotions, or "have" more emotions. While I, on the other side, an infp find it, not weird, but kind of concerning that not every person knows what they're feeling. Like, isn't this kinda really unpractical in your daily life? Also, I also struggle with my fourth function, Te. I can't seem explain *what I know*. I just can't say in words what I know about f.e. a subject at school(which is why a career at anything teaching related will fail lol). I know how it functions, but I can't put it into words just outta nowhere and I hate it. Sometimes I even explain it wrongly and I only realise that after I said it and it pisses me off every time😂😂 So my conclusion is: types often strive to be one of their inferior functions and that is also the reason why many people get mistyped. They say they are something, but in fact they aren't, they only strive to be like that deep inside them and (maybe) even convinced themselves that they're like that. I observed that when this "phenomenom" happens, the person tends to vocalise this to not only try to convince themselves but also their friends and family.

Yes. My INFP husband relates to what you write a lot. The inferior Fi for the ExTJ are somewhat stereotypical. As an ENTJ myself, we dont actually supress our emotions or feel nothing about our emotions. We do have them just like other people. The only thing is, we care about the logic more in terms of decision making and put our emotions inside the box just because we don't want them get in the way of our decisions. We don't allow our emotions control our decisions but still we have this inner sense of morality and feel emotions just like humans do.

I am INTJ, and those things honestly sound kind of familiar. I often put my emotions to the side so that they don't get in the way of whatever i am doing. I don't usually know what i am feeling, so why bother letting those emotions in the way? It is one of the reasons why i manage to really fuck up my mood sometimes, like when i am trying too hard to be objective, and destroy the fun in things i used to enjoy in the process. It is my "logical" "rational" side fighting against my feeling, unknowable and vulnerable side that i rarely share to other people, for the fear of them not understanding and or being seen as weak. It is very difficult for me to let go, or just appreciate or enjoy things for what they are. I still do have a few things that i am able to let trough that wall, but i still very often fail to relax. Also, hello there boss, i am that one worker sitting awkwardly in the corner, not wanting to be there, or to be bothered by others. And i mostly work on something else to the side rather than the job itself, but manage to get my job done anyways so you don't complain too much

I like how you explain dominant Fi. Many non-Fi typology youtubers/writers tend to make the Fi function sound like it's strictly about morals and "authenticity", which sounds a bit narrow (even though I'm sure morals and authenticity are *a part* of Fi).

This is so interesting. I'm trying to match zodiac signs to mbti types, and I theorize that the Air signs are linked to the Extroverted Thinkers (ExTx types). I would say that you mention inferior Fi as going with the flow in terms of what others want, because they don't know their own desire could link strongly with Libra, while also linking to Aquarius in terms of not wanting others imposing on them how they should feel. The air element is based on logic and can be unemotional, repressing their inward feelings for the sake of Te order, logic and fairness as well as accommodating others.
@ThoughtProvokingVlogs
@ThoughtProvokingVlogs 4 года назад
I am also trying to do this but it is difficult because of all the factors of western astrology. Such as moon signs and rising signs, cusps, houses, decans, etc. Like your moon sign is your emotional side and your Mars sign is how you handle conflict (and for some reason it is also your sexual side) so mbti to me seems a lot more...basic than astrology making it in my eyes almost impossible for each person to find the right mbti based on their birth chart unless you were trying to go off of stereotypes just based on sun signs

Have you look for a place? That's farther than my school. You must look for one. Her: *sigh* Me: lol why? If you're having trouble finding one, I know someone living near there.. If I know it would be this troublesome..T^T huhuhu Me: lol it can't be help you were in the province during the enrollment week Her: ;-; I shouldn't have trusted them, shit. Me: So they (your parents) lied when they said everything's prepared? lol Poor kid *pats her head* (This seems to happen a lot during our 7 years of friendship. She couldn't really decide things for herself and most of the time gets push by others. I tried motivating her to decide for herself but she doesn't seem to know what she really desire. As an ENTP, hit the nail on the head on Fi blind. Whenever I'm expressing my feelings towards something, I always give out reasons as to why I like something. It happens naturally and I just don't understand the concept of liking/disliking for the sake of it. It's also very hard for me to identify what I'm feeling. I get annoyed at FPs sometimes because I'm under the impression that they aren't interested in what's real and only believe what they want to believe.

Usually my vision of consequences is unfortunately not complementary to my idealized version of self, which causes problems and have me rely on my Te a lot to come up with efficient and realistic solutions that’ll ensure my safety or etc. That would likely indicate a higher Te placement, which is sort of where the internal dilemma occurs. When planning to experiencing sensory activities, I am very dependent on how I am feeling at the moment. This is what makes me think I’m not a Se dom; for me to experience things it’s gotta fit my values/mood of the day for it to be a “worthy” experience. I’d rather not do that sensory thing if it’s not fitting my current schedule/will mess up my planning ahead + goes against my subjective sense of what is logical/efficient/etc. Usually I justify my actions which at times made me think I use Ti-Fe somewhere in the stack but that’d mean I’d likely be an ESFJ or an ENFJ and I simply don’t have the Si-Ne outlook towards life, nor do I have aux Ni. I think I’m a Se dom because I either get Ni grips, or Fi-Ni loops. I also use Te a lot, but not sure if I rely on Te only after when Ni fails to create me a “consequences board” or when I KNOW I have to do that certain thing soon (or else It’ll fail), which is a whole another situation. I also use Fi almost like Fe; through my subjective truths and process of emotions, I help others giving advice with what worked for me, rather than what would be considered socially acceptable, which is why I think I’m not a Fe user. (I probably have either 6-2 on my tritype) At times, I neglect Ni and go with Se because of this idealized version of self in a “bigger-picture” sort of image (for example, I got to go to this party or else I haven’t lived a purposeful life.) which again I wonder if it’s Fi-Ni since it is, again, somewhat of what I think I should live my life as.These are the reasons why I think I could be a Se dom. Anyways, if someone could help me differentiate between a Fi dom and a Se dom I’d deeply appreciate it!! It’s been on my mind for a long time now, and I’m getting tired of analyzing each action I take and applying/comparing the functions to it, lol.

Emotions and feelings are not the same thing. Every type can be emotional. Fi is about values and beliefs which, if violated, might result in emotions. If something doesn't make logical sense to a Ti dominant person, they might also get emotional as a result of cognitive dissonance rather than because of a violation of their Fi values and beliefs.

"Yes they can use logic, but their primary motivations and values are derived from Fi developed over time". Really!!? First of all ISTJs and INTJs have Fi in their third spot, after Te. So it is kind of ridiculous to state that their beliefs are derived from a cognitive function which is in third position in their cognitive stack. Secondly ideologies like Communism or Capitalism are not adopted by any individual just for emotional reasons. They are often adopted after extensive reading, research and logical analysis (whether these ideologies are correct or not is another question altogether). Seems like your dominant Fi want to link every belief systems to personal feelings.

Te is about getting things done efficiently, not about personal values. I see no connection between Te and developing personal values. My ISTJ boyfriend usually has some deep feelings about a belief/value which then causes him to find logical explanations to support his claims. And of course being the NT that I am, I talk about his motivations and help him reach his emotional conclution while helping him accept and understand that having opinions just because you feel a certain way is fine, you don't have to explain yourself and it's not like everything has to has logic and sense lol. That is something I also remind myself pretty often haha

@@ileanaprofeanu7626 My comment was in response to the observation of the INFP that the primary motivation of an INTJ or ISTJ derives from subconscious introverted feeling developed over time. She also gave the example of ideologies like Communism, Feminism or Capitalism. For me that is over simplistic and even erroneous at times. Iam an INTJ and my values are often derived from deeply reading and analysing certain belief systems, whatever those belief systems may be. It is not like my beliefs are derived from "subconscious introverted feeling developed over time". I may defend my beliefs passionately, but that is because I took effort to logically arrive at certain conclusions and my tertiary Fi is about the personal affinity I have with those beliefs or conclusions . But that affinity comes after the beliefs are formed, it does not cause the formation of the beliefs. P. S: I cannot speak with regard to the ISTJ you know. ISTJ leads with Si and that may work differently compared to INTJ. Also, I never said Te has any connection to development of personal values. I was just stressing that Fi comes after Ni and Te for the INTJ.
@ileanaprofeanu7626
@ileanaprofeanu7626 4 года назад
@@androidtech61 I think she was referring more to ISTJ than INTJ. But anyways, could there be an initial feeling or affinity towards a certain belief, that would fuel the start of the investigation in the first place? Could there be an intrinsic sentiment you refuse to acknowledge until you find proof to support it? As an NT myself, I realized that sometimes my logical conclusions are biased, sort of like missing points and "forgetting" details to support my conclusions, getting sometimes angry when someone would corner me with a detail I did not think about. But if I remember that, even though I believe my conclusion was derived from logic and is rooted in facts, and I feel that, this is not necessarily true, and I take the time to put myself in the other's shoes - again, through Fi - I can see things from a clearer perspective and I see where my bias was. Thrid function still has a pretty big impact. ENTPs - Fe third - are pretty social. ENTJs - Se third - care a lot about how they dress. I see no reason why Fi wouldn't play a big role in both INTJs' and ISTJs' lives

@@ileanaprofeanu7626 First of all logic does not mean, your argument is bulletproof. Secondly I used the words reading and deeper analysis in my comment instead of logic. As an INTJ, my Ni perception may lead me to construct a clear vision of the future and also help me gain a profound understanding regarding certain beliefs. My Te will further solidify these beliefs with objective logic and my Fi will latch on to these beliefs and help me gain a personal affinity to those beliefs. P. S: I never said logical people (NT types) are never wrong. They just prefer thinking and deeper understanding to form conclusive beliefs rather than use their feelings to gain those beliefs. It is your manner of gaining your beliefs which provides a clue as to your type, not how perfect and indestructible your beliefs are. Fi has relevance for INTJs and ISTJs, however not to that high degree the INFP was referring to.

@@androidtech61 You literally excluded Fi from the formation of the belief. I don't believe that is possible. At the root of a belief is a feeling. Something about feminism or capitalisam sparked an interest, thus leading to research. After research, and after logic has confirmed what Ni and Fi sensed and concluded, you may say that what you belive in originated in logic and research and what not, and you will gladly forget about the feeling that started the whole journey, because now you have rational proof to sustain youe point of view. That is what I believe she talks about. Ni doesn't spark interest, it just observes. I liked Angular. After reading that React and Vue are both easier, efficient and more popular, I kept reading countless articles in hope of forming a logic to say that Angular is better. My Fi did this, and if I were to find out those magical arguments, I would have gladly taken them, and after having the proof in my hands so to speak, I could say, I and others who hear me could say that what I say has logic, but in fact Fi started and sustained the whole research apparatus

That was an interesting one, I never really delved into how the functions come into play below fourth in the stack and based my understanding when comparing types by how the top 4 manifest alike or differently in their combination. ie it made sense to me that intps and infps could be confused because our shared functions and how contrasting stack functions ( like having inferior Fe vs dominant Fi) can result in a similar disregard towards external influence I look forward to seeing the other vids of this type. as an infp I naturally started here lol
