Exactly. I started this transformation from restriction to intuitive and i gained a little bit weight but it felt so good to eat everything. I still ate probably 80-90% healthy but i stopped feeling guilty when i ate not so healthy food. Now im healthier than ever. Working out and eating everything and i stopped being obsessed with food 💕
Ive started intuitive eating some time ago. First I felt joy that I can eat whatever I want. But then I also felt the resposibility for how much I eat, when Im hungry, if Im hungry or just bored, and the most difficult for me: if Im full. I really enjoy that there are no restrictions and the only rule is to stay healty 😊 thanks for the video 🤩
I practice this form of eating as well, and also teach my children to eat intuitively. I’m also on my weight loss journey that I’m sharing on my channel and I’ve lost over 50 lbs. so far🙌🏿! It definitely can be a great addition to a weight loss journey, for me it has😁! Thanks for sharing ❤️!
6:00 omfg so true, at the early stage of intuitive eating i binged alot.... when i get the freedom, i literally ate everything i have restricted myself from. cookies, chips, chocolates, bread. after a while it doesnt feel good anymore and i slowly build a better eating habit. mindful eating + intuitive eating. i have been practicing them for 2 months. and i think im getting better at it :). i have my own rules and fundamental. that is: Respecting my body ( physically and emotional needs), listening to my body and taking care of it. enjoying and allowing myself to eat any kind of food in a way that does not harm my body. now i eat vegetables, fruits everyday effortlessly, cus i had a constipation problem and now im so much healthier. so basically just focusing on health rather than weight loss. cause when you fully listen to your body, youd gain/lose the weight u need without any form of restriction. yeah everyday i still ate my favorite snacks, like traditional cake, pie, chocolate, etc enjoying them in the portion that make me comfortable. thats why i do mindful eating. now i am fasting cus its the holy month ramadan. focus on ur health always guys, its more important than trying to look in certain way. u got this pookssss
I am a firm believerf in IE. Although with it comes much responsibility. I do not think that people should delve into this way of eating without a firm grasp on how the different macros effect the body. As well I think that people can use this way of eating to justify their bad eating habits. ie: my body was telling me I really needed to eat ice cream
Maybe your set point is lower than your current weight, and as long as you’re healthy that’s ok! But if you’re worried about losing too much, try eating more high calorie yet nutrient dense foods like nuts and seeds or nut butter, and try smoothies as well!
I need to lose weight (BMI is 44) and want to use the 1 lb per week/nmt 10% at a time to gradually lower my set point. Is there a video that covers this approach whole still using intuitive eating? Any other resources to read?
Such an informative video. Loved it! Never heard about set point weight, but I’m going to read into it and maybe watch your video on it. Hope you have a great day!
I have stayed the same weight for years with healthy, whole foods, some treats, everything in moderation, daily gentle exercise, etc. However, I weigh myself almost daily. How does the scale play into intuitive eating? Do you weigh yourself often? Thanks!
Does your setpoint change throughout your life? Before having my 2nd child, my set point was 158lbs. But I had dieted and exercised myself down to 138 (with a ton of muscle mass). Now, I am at 212 lbs, and I would love to get back down to 158. Could my set point have changed?
Thank you for this video. I love the idea of ‘set point weight.’ I’ve started IE six months ago and I’ve lost 40lbs so far. I was getting worried that I was losing weight and losing it too fast. My issue wasn’t restriction, my issue was the fact that I was trying to force feed myself 3 meals a day + snacks due to being anorexic in my teens and wanting my to be ‘normal’ and gain a healthier relationship with food, but doing that just made me hate food and hate eating as I wasn’t listening to my body, just forcing food when I didn’t want it or need it. Now I eat when I’m hungry, stop when I’m full and eat what food I fancy at the time and I’ve never felt better with food tbh. This eased my worries on the weight loss. I’m only 5’1 so maybe I just haven’t reached my set point weight yet. I’ll continue to listen to my body and just see if my weight stabilises. :)
It's not recommended for anorexics to IE because their hunger cues are not normal. Are you working with an ED recovery team? This is something you can't do on your own.
@@noelle7786 This was over a year ago, my weight is still stable 2 years in and I eat a very varied diet with no food fears anymore. Still IE, though I eat at more regular times now due to learning my hunger ques.
Hey Lucie what’s your take on the whole monitoring of progress when it comes to goals one sets for oneself? Something like Inuitive eating sounds tricky to see or feel progress, but I get that I also come from a very progress/productivity driven culture… thoughts??
Hey there I have a question, I have noticed that most of the time elderly person finds it difficult to lose weight. Is it a real thing ? And what can be done differently to help them lose weight.
From my elderly (well +50 😀) point of view: The older you get the less likely you are willing to chance your lifestyle, which of course is neccessairy for sustainable weightloss. Most people I know at my age are stuck in their routines and bad habbits and would rather suffer from diet related diseases than let go of unhealthy eating. The few that were willing to learn are loosing weight.
I do not know much about how nutritionist practicing intuitive eating help clients who are vegans, but judging by what my nutritionist brievly told me, they try to follow the intuitive eating philosophy while respecting the client's desire to be vegan.
