I just started my refinement trays on 6/45 now with buttons and class 3 band. The first round was about 30, but the results have been amazing and I definitely have gotten use them. Love watching the content!

Gosh, I have the opposite experience. My refinement trays hurt way more and my lisp isn't going away. I just put on tray #16 (out of 17) and there is a gap on 1 bottom tooth. It doesn't go away after using a chewy. That being said, I am a lot less mindful of time compared to the initial trays, but am probably still averaging 21 hours per day.

I’ve had a large halo from tray 1 on my lateral incisor. I have mentioned it every time I go in for a check up and they say to wear my tray longer which hasn’t helped at all.

Some lateral incisors won’t track properly despite doing everything right. Hang in there and it will likely be “picked up” later.

Hi Dr. Bailey! Thank you so much for all your helpful videos. I was wondering, in those weeks between your initial trays and your refinement trays, do you wear the final set of the initial trays that whole time? I’m partway through my initial treatment and was wondering for future reference.

You’re welcome. Most doctors have their patients wear the final set of aligners until they receive their new refinement aligners.

Hi Dr. Bailey, thank you for a great video! I actually just got my refinement scans but currently on tray 42 out of 45. My Ortho says to continue wearing 42, 43, 44 for a week and last tray for two weeks as that’s when I’ll get my refinement trays. Is it normal to get scanned on 3rd to last tray and continue to wear new trays? Wouldn’t my teeth move by the time my refinement trays come in? Thank you!

Yes, some orthodontist do that while others have you wear the last aligner in the series for the 4-5 weeks (sometimes full time and sometimes night time)

Is it normal for the first set to not hurt? I’m on tray 5 and have only felt slight pain on one tooth for a few days of one tray. I already had braces for 5 years as a teen so they are all straight except one that rotated a bit (that’s the one that hurt) but I was left with a slight overbite and overjet that were fixing now along with moving the mid line over. Dentist is a top Invisalign’ provider and does thousands of cases , seems like he knows what he’s doing. I’m just worried I feel no pain at all!

Are refinements very common? I feel like I was really compliant with 22 hours/day but will be having a refinement scan after I finish my initial set of 35. I do have an overbite and wear rubber bands, and it looks like the bite needs more time.

Usually refinements are used to allow for more bite correction (ie elastic wear) and to correct alignment discrepancies.

Im on tray 20 and i notice one canine tooth has a halo but the rest dont. What should i do? It has been like this on the last few trays but i have switched anyway.

Wear your aligners 22 hours a day. Chewing exercises can help. If the halo persists, be sure to point it out to your provider.

Mam this is my 5 day and I have still halos mam does it mean my teeth are not tracking

Wear your aligners 22 hours/day, do chewing exercises and check with your orthodontist if the halo doesn't resolve at your next appointment. Some spacing may be normal for certain teeth, but each case is different. Good luck.

Hi! If my trays are putting very hard pressure on my teeth, does that mean they are not tracking? (if refinement trays don't hurt because they are the ones that fit perfectly?)

Not necessarily. It depends on the type of tooth movement that is planned for that particular tray. Certain teeth are also more sensitive than others.
