which means that the ir laser and illuminator basically look like the same as the atpial? as in the ir laser and illuminator? what's the difference in this and the vcsel version?
Amazing video, great pace, great amount of info without being overwhelming, clear speech and engaging tone, great use of total length of the video, great shots and b-roll, great idea on changing the video into a night scene where you took the time and put the effort to go out, test, show the test, and show all the settings of the device. Thorough is what we want, boring is unbearable, you found a perfect way to pass on all the relevant the data without losing engagement. Watched the whole 20:47 and felt like a 6 minute video. Keep up the great work and make sure to keep up with those promises of follow up videos and more testing, that will make you one of the most sought after review channels in our community and on the platform. Whatever process you use to make these videos is working, keep improving on it and keep them videos coming!
I really appreciate the detailed feedback. Believe it or not, this was the 4th upload of the video.. each time with less firearm b-roll into RU-vid deemed it suitable.. I wanted more for this video, but am still somewhat happy with the final product. I wish RU-vid told just let the firearm content creators make videos in peace so long as we aren’t breaking laws.
Been waiting a year for mine to show up. I finally contacted him after months of excuses and pushbacks on dates. I’ll just buy a real one at this point.
Waited for my mk4 NGAL for 7 months, the guy kept making excuses and pushing it back. He was happy to make accommodations for reviewers though. Buyer beware, this isnt a simple transaction like buying a Somogear or any other product. Not to mention, its all Chinese at the end of the day with very little track record.
I think this is the IS-EG version, which is not hand make by himself. He's only do the final QC on these cheaper version. But you are right, the wait time is very long and frustrating.
I struggle to justify these things outside of asymmetrical warfare, ie, Specops Vs. goat farmers. They don't seem to be used in peer combat because they're beacons, the UKR Vs. RUS war is what makes me think they are a waste. Everyone can see them in peer combat and if you use them, you're dead by drone or artillery in minutes. Thermal is much safer than the IR 'HAY OVER HERE' designators. This goes for IR beacons and phones as well.
Night vision use on the Russian side is very limited and the units that are out there are not gen 3. Additionally, there are now high end versions of the MAWL and others LAM devices that have an IR beam that is no longer visible under standard nods bringing the advantage back to western backed forces.
98% of what you would face CONUS will be people that are technologically inferior to you if you have NV and thermal. Having a laser is valid. Newer lasers are light and don’t take up a lot of space to not justify them.
I've been waiting for this. Been hearing this to be a better viable option in comparison to the somo gear but, to each their own. Would still like to get my hands eventually on this one.
The somo lasers seem to be a bit stronger but I think they are unnecessarily strong. This illuminator has a better divergence ranges and it comes with actual diffusers. I’d go with this over the somo, but for the money they’re both great options for flat range use ESPECIALLY when compared to the $5k price tag for the real deal
That is one of the best clones I've seen. I'd have no issues owning one, you can really tell there was a lot of focus on proper engineering, and tolerance, things you don't expect from a clone of anything. Great testing!
I have the InvisibleSight VCSEL Mk4 model. The illumination with the VCSEL on high easily reaches out past 300m. That said, lead time was over a year and I had a fake shipping number from him at about the 9mo mark. I would not recommend that people order from him until his lead time shrinks, though I'm exceedingly happy with the performance of the laser and my experiences mirror yours with the detents and ease of use. My illuminator knob is completely smooth, no grit, no clicks - just smooth in both directions. I wonder if there's a material difference in the adjustability there.
The MK4 is $1000 vs the IS-EG at $460+. MK4 has a much tighter moa grouping for the slaved lasers, more potting, and rated to shoot on 7.62 caliber. Pretty nice, but I certainly did not want to fork out $1K for a clone. $460 is the sweet spot. Still waiting on mine.
I’ll prob never get into night vision but a good friend of mine did. The real cost is in the helmet, goggles and all the helmet attachments. He went budget where he could and said he is $7,500 invested. Wow!! But looks fun.
Great video , thank you for sharing. I ordered mine in January so hopefully it’ll be here any day now. And yes I think he is going to solve the whole wait time issue here soon !
Great vid once again! Very cool to see you respond to nearly all comments and questions. So many times viewers have honest questions to posted content and get nothing. Keep up the great work bud
Clearly more superior to the Somogear clone going off your two videos here. But I gotta say both are fantastic. The invisible sight deff is a better option in terms of coming with diffuser caps and not having to make my own like I did on my Somogear, the tape switch is super neat, and the power output seems close to true of the real NGAL than the Somogear is. I think you’re getting a more “quality” product with this one in terms of quality “control”, but I guess I’m just a lucky one who has a really well performing Somogear. Both seem to be fantastic
For the money you’d be happy with either. Each has their pros and cons. I’d go with the IS due to the illuminator divergence range, and inclusion of actual diffusers.
I have a random assortment of tools that came with various things over the years. I can’t recall exactly where, but I know holosun and vortex include them with their red dots
Full transparency, as mentioned in the video, mine was sent for the purpose of making the first of its kind detailed review like this, so I don’t think you can compare the lead time on mine to ordering one unfortunately.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Do you have a legitimate website to purchase and did you have VCSEL or EEL IR Illuminator type? Ok I see it its the EEL version.
Great video, great product but it's a pity about the almost unobtanium lead time on these. Do you know if IS sell the NGAL vis-overide switch separately? I'm interested in running it with my Somogear NGAL.
I placed an order for an is-eg vcsel after seeing one of your videos back in February. The sight said they would ship in April. After reaching out he said it would be the end of June for my unit. Well it still isn’t here and he isn’t responding.
@@4MRRanch does he go by a new email or something ? i have multiple times and he has never once replied, im sure my unit will show up soon i've been waiting since early december ill update this comment when it show's up
@@4MRRanch yes, all they said was “we gotta make sure they get in the country first, it will update by next week” that was mid January lol. The more time passes the more I’m worried that it’s a scam. Since you have a relationship with the company at this point you should try asking them what’s up with everyone’s orders that have supposedly shipped. Otherwise reviews like this might help promote their scheme
Egtactical has been leading me on since December (I bought a November pre-order) saying this and the other. Last response I got was last Thursday, and since they've stopped responding to me... I hope they get it together.
Coming soon. Currently working on about 7 different laser reviews at once and trying to release in order of most requested. But I have a big surprise coming soon to those interested in lasers
Brother, the offset is 5 MOA at ALL distances. If your measurements and calculations were accurate, your horizontal offset will always be consistently off by the same factor.
Yes.. it’s 5moa at all distances but that means .599” divergence at 12 yards (5moa at this distance) and 5 inches of divergence at 100 yards (5moa at this distance)
Im stoked to get my high power Mk4's i order from IS almost a year ago. Luckily i wont have to wait another year to get a second unit since i bought 2 of them.
@@4MRRanch The dust motes are so small, that they create light wave interference patterns. Larger dust particles will cause more recognizable shadow blotches. A very good static free fine optic dust brush works pretty well to help remove them. But they are pesky as static will cause them to cling. Oh, and you can’t see them without a powerful light.
Is the vcsel version of the EG replacing the MK4?Confused. Wanting something I can rifle mount or spotting scope mount and use for long range illum (500-1000)with a cnvd-lr. Even the ir laser may be very useful for long range illum.
I recently ordered the Armasight mnvd-51 thinking it would mount like a standard pvs-14. Now I’m torn on sending it back for the pvs-14. I wish Armasight made an adapter to mount to a standard j-arm.
The IS-EG version already released? It seems that IS-EG version is mass production by factory, while the IS version produce by the IS onwer himself. Hoping that the IS-EG version would have a shorter lead time. I had made an order for the IS MK4 in Jan.
Sorry if i missed it, what switch are you using? It looks like an axon or axon style. I think you said you were using the included switch but mine just came with the oem ngal la23 rubber switch. Thanks
Can we get a torture test of Somo gear and IS NGAL please! I want to purchase one but I am not sure which! This is pre NV as I will mainly be using Vis laser for CQC
I want one. I can't think of even one single reason to have it, mind you, but I still want one. I could put it on the truck gun. Or the closet gun? Or the pillow gun, or...
I think it’s partially an illusion of the camera angle, but I didn’t notice this so much first hand. The video is being sped up so it makes it more noticeable. As long as it returns to zero it doesn’t concern me.
It does come from China as far as I know, but there are a lot of Chinese clones of different things and as far as I’ve been aware, there hasn’t been any custom issues with this unit. I’m not saying it’s not impossible though.
what is the ir illumination type EEL or VCSEL or are they the same. I'm thinking of getting one of these when they are available. one for my airsoft build and one for my 5.56 build. thanks
Thanks great video - I know you had mentioned it’s not a comparison video to the Somogear but can’t help but add I think folks are definitely cross shopping between the IS and Somogear especially if they’re around the price range. That said I REALLY hope you also get your hand on the IS MK4 NGAL to review.
Dedicated comparison video is in the works, don’t worry. I also want the mk4 for review but he doesn’t want to prioritize a unit for review when he owes many people units, which I respect
You should do some reviews of the spec precision site and some of the lasers on there, they are kind of like somogear with them being marketed for airsoft but I’ve seen reviews that they hold on real steel guns.
Lol. I'm not a gun guy. I did'nt know what this was for half the video - it just looked like a compelling gadget. How much does a modern AR with all those fixings weigh? That rifle barely moves when he fires.
Gray area. Civilians can own them, but businesses can’t sell to civilians. So typically you have people buying them on what’s known as the gray market, or getting ones like this from overseas companies like invisblesight
@@4MRRanch well I only caught it because I wanted to submit my pre-order😂 great video and very exciting stuff! Looking forward to any updates you post in the future.
Would have liked to see the effect of the diffuser on the illuminator to see if the diffusion is sufficient to increase the flood to allow it to be used for CQB without blooming out everybody's nods. I have the somogear for now, but the illuminator is too bright & tight for easy use indoors and as you noted, it doesn't have working diffusers.
I realized I had left that out. Will include in the inevitable update video. The diffuser would work great for CQB on this one, but drops off illumination fairly quickly so not usable past 20-25 yards
@@4MRRanch the ability to flip a diffuser (like the L3 NGAL) and have it be usable indoors for CQB would be a godsend. Good tubes don't need much illumination.
If I order a is-eg from his website today, how long am I looking at to get it in my hands? His website says 2-4 months but people here are saying 1 year.
I shot a pattern at 20 yards (a little low at this distance) then did a range session of 300 rounds, then checked to see if there was sift from the pattern at 20. I didn’t see a shift so for 300 rounds of 5.56 I’m currently deeming this unit of retaining zero
It would be awesome if they would send you a MK4 version as well and you could do a side by side comparison. I know the MK4 costs more and has better spec's, but is it worth it?
$500 for the 'base' model??? Ok, I can see that based on the results of the video, but a grand for the 'top-line' model???? And before any of you start typing, that's the listed price on their website for the mk4. At that price point, I'll just continue saving my $$ to get something legit in the 2k price range. Hopefully Phantom Hill will get some units back on the market. Best video I've seen yet on these 'budget' units btw.
@lorteti Do you actually need me to explain to you that “legit” has nothing to do with something ‘failing’ or not???? If you do, perhaps you shouldn’t be handling weapons.
It’s an IR illumination and timing device, when used with night vision you essentially have a strong flashlight and laser only visible through the night vision
