In this video we're listening to INXS once more. This is a live performance at Rocking The Royals. We really enjoy INXS' music. It's been a part of our lives since we were teens, and we were only scratching the surface with their music back then. We're super excited to learn more about this awesome band. Enjoy!

One of my all time favourite INXS songs , it was a huge hit in its day . INXS is so good at some little catchy hook , whether its a guitar riff or Sax solo , its always distinctive and instantly recognisable. Another of their songs that's a little bit obscure that I like is The Gift .

Love this song. The singlet Michael is wearing says 'Watch The World Argue', which is the opening line from the song Dancing On The Jetty. It was made by a fan and he actually wore it quite a lot.

Gillian cried and sulked that we didn't win tickets to be inside the Melbourne Arts Centre for this event. Instead, we were outside dancing and singing with thousands of other losers. But we were given big TV screens to watch the event as it happened, and we all had a lot of fun and made new friends. Cheers, Hayley

The Swing may not be their best album, but I enjoy it more than Kick and X. Just a lot of ideas that aren't too commercial. One of my faves is a song called 'Dancing On The Jetty'.

Some of their most interesting stuff coming from this same album 'The Swing' that was known in Australia, but never got any overseas exposure and well worth checking out. 'Johnson's Aeroplane' & 'Dancing on the Jetty' both great to hear where they were at compared to this song.

This was a big hit here in Australia, I remember the concert but as I am no fan of the Royals didn't want to get a ticket. Pretty sure my younger sister went. I will have to ask her if she remembers it.

They shut down the Road Tunnel next to the Gig, there were thousands of people. I didn't know my future wife at the time, but we were both there.

Burn For You was off the album The Swing. Great album from the 80`s. Original Sin was my favourite track on the album. Another awesome reaction guys.

Not sure if you've done it But ' just keep walking ' is one of INXS first tracks Definitely worth a listen

A great song from The Swing Album two of my other favourites from this LP are Dancing on the Jetty and Johnson’s Aeroplane….. keep on enjoying INXS.

One of my favourites from The Swing! Classic INXS!! I can't think of another song that the keyboard hook is from, though that was the sound of The Swing ao other songs would be similar, but not the same!!

Here's a story about this song. Michael Hutchence and Jon Farris (INXS keyboard player) tried to get Steve Kilbey of The Church alone in some backstage area with the intension of beating the shit out of him after Kilbey had mocked them in the press over the ''ding ding ding'' keyboard riff in ''Burn For You''. He made some remraks about INXS's music sounding like children's music or whatever. Anyway, INXS are not to be messed with and the great messiah of Australian alternative rock almost learned the hard way. I checked the availability of '"Burn For You'' in Canada, and I see that the official video is blocked in North America. It's a pretty good video - it's unfortunate you're not able to see it over in your region.

Marty , Peter & Richard from The Church were very humble & fine people to work with & for but Steve was a bit haywire & still is. He was a heavy LSD user & it definitely took a toll on him. He is immensely talented & gifted & while recording Starfish was clean temporarily with the end result being a brilliant record.

@@davidellis5141 I believe every word! I only once had Marty Wilson Piper over to my place. I was keen to sell off my record collection, and he just happened to be in Sydney and was at my place the next day to take my records from me. A very nice guy. Unfortunately, I made friends with a woman online who was obsessed with The Church. When she found out I had Marty at my house, she turned cold and decided to tell the members of The Church all the dirt on me (the gap in my tooth, my ''nzoz'' channels on youtube, and how much of a boring person I am)... It was both surreal and distressing. It was the first time in my life that I found out how intense fans of a band can be. All I did was sell my records to a member of her favourite band! And that's my Church story.

Steve has been bagging INXS for ever, even in the last few years. Without naming him Tim Rodgers sticks up for INXS and says the musician haters are just envious, he says every band wanted the success they had! Oh, I still love The Church's music though 😂

@@jemxs Same here Jemxs, I still love The Church's music. I was listening to a podcast interview with Stevie Kilbey, and he was taking passive shots at INXS, and using ''Burn For You'' as an example. The rest of The Church were on good terms with the INXS boys.

Great live performance but the album version is in a different league, particularly with the backing vocals and the keyboards/ending. You should do Kiss the Dirt (Falling Down the Mountain), Listen Like Thieves and What You Need. From their later stuff - Don't Lose Your Head.

Kate Ceberano and the Zan chick from I'm Talking do backing vocals on the original recording. Jenny Morris (who you should check out sometime) is backing INXS on this live performance. Jenny Morris (from NZ) supported Paul McCartney when he came to Australia in the early 1990s I saw Macca when he appeared at Parramatta Stadium (Go, Eels!) in 1993 and in the row in front of me was Nick Greiner 😞 He played the following night there and I stood in my backyard to hear it in the distances too.

It could have been Gladys Berejiklian! 🤢 I used to live in North Strathfield, and would hear a few concerts from the stadium there. Good times, but I don't miss Sydney now that I'm living in Hobart!

Nick Cave performed at the funeral of his friend, INXS singer Michael Hutchence, but requested the cameras recording the service be switched off as he performed "Into My Arms" . Three years later, on September 17 , 2000, Paula Yates was found dead in her home. Bob Geldof took custody of Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily Hutchence Geldof after her mother died of an accidental heroin overdose. Kell Hutchence asked Bob to take custody of Tiger so that she could be raised with her half-sisters. So much sadness . Peace out.

Great live performance! Charlie and Diana should feel honoured. This is very close to the studio version, but Zan and Kate of I'm Talking did the vocals on the recording, while on this one, it's only Jenny Morris.

It's a shame that it isn't the music video, but the Rockin' The Royals performance has its charm. I had no luck getting into the venue, but my sister and my mates all had our own fun with 1000's of other kids outside. I think Models also played the Rocking The Royals gig.

Yeah, the video would have been swell, but anyway... I was outside the venue with those that have already commented. Just having fun, dancing and cheering for the bands inside. Might have had more fun outside than those inside. Thanx for checking it out. Try the music clip on your own time.

probably my fave INXS song, but it's just not going to come across anywhere near as good live unfortunately. and this song has a bit more of nostalgia than usual for me as it reminds me of a friend I had at the time when I was about 13 years old.
