I'm not gonna lie, I'm a gamer, I discovered this song through Vice City-I was born in 1991 and I was just short of that awesome decade that was the Eighties but I've since grown to truly love all of INXS' music and I think Michael Hutchence was a truly special performer the likes of which we'll never see again.

He truly was. My wife and I talk about him a lot. Much like you, she kind of missed out on so much great music, born in '88 and growing up in a small country town . I've tried to expose her to all manner of interesting music in the hopes she'll like it but with INXS, no effort is required. The only problem was having to tell her that Michael died before she even knew who he was. Broke her heart. She cried.

Agree. It's so sad and it bothers me that Michael wanted to be remembered for his poetry and lyrics, but was defined mainly as a sex symbol. I think that was something that contributed to his depression later on towards the end of his life. To this day people mostly talk about his looks as opposed to him being a great songwriter, intelligent, worldly, etc. Yes, he was a very handsome man, but he was so much more than his looks. Wish he was still here, happy, and wish that INXS was still around. I feel they would be if he hadn't passed. I also wish I had been born way earlier than 1995 so that I could have had a better chance to see them live at least once. 😢

Listen Like Thieves was the first album I ever heard by INXS, in 1986. It is, to me, one of their three best, the other two being Kick and X. All the other albums were great (except for the first two), but those three stand out the most to me. Listen Like Thieves also seems, to me, the most 'Australian' of their albums. I'm not certain what would makes it so Australian. It just has that feel to it. Michael did not have much of an Aussie accent, due to the fact that he did not live his whole life in Australia, but spent part of his life in Hong Kong and the US. But, on this album, he seemed to sing in such a way as to bring out what Australian accent he did have. He had such a great voice, was very handsome and sexy, and could sing like nobody's business. He was also truly and honestly talented, as well as very smart. He's still my favorite singer, and I wish he was still around.

I will argue that this is the best INXS tune. If you disagree, meet me in the mall parking lot to settle it. Their chill tunes are amazing. See...Beautiful girl.

I had Listen Like Thieves on vinyl and cassette back in the 80s, and it was one of the records I listened to before high school and on the way home from school riding my Hutch freestyle bike. Those were incredible times.

I luv how they strip songs down to the core. Sometimes just a beat, a breath, guitar/synthesizer/drum solo. I would have to call it of the minimalist genre.

Playing in the dirt We find the seeds of doubt Don't water them with your tears Don't think about all the years You'd rather be without Eden lets me in I find the seeds of love And climb upon the highwire I kiss and tell all my fears Falling down the mountain End up kissing dirt Look a little closer Sometimes it wouldn't hurt Playing in the dirt We find the seeds of fun And we scream like alleycats Tearing down what we attack To prove that we are one Cutting through the night We find the seeds of lust And lose our minds on one intent These passions never seem to end Falling down the mountain End up kissing dirt Look a little closer Sometimes it wouldn't hurt You know it wouldn't hurt Falling down the mountain End up kissing dirt Look a little closer Sometimes it wouldn't hurt Get up, get up, get up, get up to the top, yeah I'm falling down the mountain End up kissing dirt, yeah I'm falling, falling Cutting through the night We find the seeds of lust And lose our minds on one intent These passions never seem to end Falling down the mountain End up kissing dirt Look a little closer Sometimes it wouldn't hurt

"Beloved Michael, today we remember you. I was 7 years old when I seen the video "Need you tonight" it wasn't until I was older that I had begun to fully appreciate you, besides Chris, Morrison, and Jagger , you were one of the most gifted, sensual, sexy, gifted, and talented Musicians that I had ever seen. Your music will live forever, we miss you daily, we love you forever. I am sorry Michael that you were in pain and that they didn't care, you were selfless and didn't want to let your mates down, but in the end it cost you everything, even your life.
