In my opinion, the LAST “big win” for Iowa was December 27, 2019, against USC. All Iowa does is collect wins with NO value. And I’m a HUGE Iowa fan since 1980. Idk how or when it happened, but Iowa fans have been pleased with wins from non Conference games and a pathetic West Division. I’m holding on to 1 “big win” from nearly 4 years ago……it makes me upset and sickened. I even signed the petition last year for BF’s removal, but to be honest, I think it’s KF holding everything back. I’m not sure, but I’ve wanted firings for awhile now.
As an Iowa fan, I truly appreciate that. I’m tired of Iowa collecting 3 wins from non Conference games. Then Iowa’s “stellar” play in the West Division, where 5 out of the 7 teams have fired their HC’s in the last 2-3 years, then ((( POW )))!!!!! Iowa is walking around with 8-9 wins with a strut against NOBODY!!!!!! Hey Iowa…..let’s go to the B1G Championship game by default where NOT ONE West Division has won……and lose in a SPECTACULAR way. But hey, the National News that busts out over that, is the Iowa fans drank Indianapolis out of beer before kickoff. I’m over it…….the offense NEEDS to change. There’s absolutely NO WAY Iowa will be above 7th place in the Conference standings at the end of next year. I hope there’s A LOT MORE huge losses this year!!!!!
I’d agree with you but the only time Oklahoma’s defense was as bad as Iowa offense was 2018 when they had Kyler Murray. That was the worst defense I’d ever seen.
Don't forget that in last year's 7 - 3 win over South Dakota State, the Iowa offense did not score a touchdown. The team got to seven points with two safeties and a field goal. That's not a joke, offense is literally Iowa's third phase.
All Kirk needs, given the fact Phil Parker is a defensive genius, is a top 60 offense and he would rarely ever lose a football game. He would be a legend. But, Brian has to go.
I don’t think BF is the entire problem. I think KF is a big part of the problem, his offensive philosophy is antiquated. So whoever replaces BF has to live within the constraints KF places on them.
McNamara and All deserve this college football purgatory after quitting on the team last year and then talking smack all off season. They are 100% getting what they deserve.
Blaming the defense says it all! Brian is the incompetent posterchild. It is beyond absurd to the maximum to blame the defense for not winning any game. That statement alone is basis for terminating his contract. Kirk, put your son aside and shut him up.
As a Michigan fan I can tell you that the QB and TE you got from Michigan are good players. Fire the son and get a fresh OC. Harbaugh had to fire Brown and get a new DC and OC to get were the Wolverines are at right now.
We know we got quality players in McNamara and All. Hopefully they are not thinking it was a mistake coming here. Yes, BF needs to go but also KF needs to change his offensive philosophy or it’s all moot. Sadly I think KF is part of the problem. We also need a new strength coach as well. Yes Chris Doyle had problems, but he got results, sad situation.
Scary that KF doesn't realize there's an issue. Not surprising though. Remember, he punted from midfield before half instead of throwing a hail mary one time.
Great points Cole and nice vid! As a long time Iowa fan I will add more: 1. Kirk’s outdated and ineffective offensive schemes are reason #1 to blame. 2. Kirk has had 3 different offensive coordinators during his 25 year tenure and all have struggled. The common theme is its Kirks offense. 3. While providing many easier wins, a weak Big Ten West has held the offense back over the years because Kirk knows his defense and special teams can win games. 4. The majority of Iowa fans love Kirk but have begged him to change his offense for the team to make the next step. While Kirk has evolved and adapted his program in many admirable ways, he has refused to change his offense. 5. This years team will not do as well as the last few years because while the defense is good it is not the great defense of years past that made up for a horrible offense. 6. Next season the west coast additions will make Iowas schedule much tougher. Kirks current offensive philosophy will produce .500 or slightly better win seasons. If he changed his offense (history points to this not happening) we could be a great team. 7. Iowa fans are not hoping for kirk to retire they are hoping he retires his offense. However if Kirk decides to Iowa would most likely have a Lavar Woods move to head coach and hire a good OC. The amount of money Iowa brings in through Big Ten tv deals provides plenty to hire a great new head coach outside of the program as well. With the transfer portal and NIL rebuilds, while scary and still a challenge, have become less challenging.
Iowas offensive line is one of the worst i've ever seen. Cade is clearly injured and him getting absolutely no time in the pocket and having no run game isn't helping. The WR core looks bad as well but its clear as day the O-Line is the main issue. (also obviously Brian needs to go)
Its sad because as Iowa fans we dont expect a ton from the hawkeyes. All we want is a winning season, locking down the rivalry games and maybe making a bowl appearance. We dont expect the Hawks to go to nationals
In his last three games Cade is averaging 89yards a game passing and has three interceptions. His completion rate for the year so far is a little over 50%. But he wants to put all the blame on the coordinator?”
Idk who you are and have never watched one of your videos, but thank you for speaking on this as an Iowa fan myself I am so sick and fucking tired of this. I want better for these players on offense man. They deserve to have fun. It’s embarrassing to be an Iowa fan. Good thing I’m from Georgia and have the Braves and Bulldogs
crazy uga went from the #1 seed a few days ago but a few points in one game knocked them completely out of contention, especially by bama who should've never survived the previous game if not for a series of miracles
Kirk has to share in some of the blame. Iowa's offense was never good under him. He's the head coach. Ultimately, its his team and he has to show responsibility
I believe that as well. Even if Iowa had an offense that weighed in around 65th to 80th in the Nation for production, they would be bringing in wins against better teams than they currently do against NOBODY.
I’m an Iowa fan and yeah the offense sucks but each week I go into it thinking something might finally click. Obviously it doesn’t, but it keeps it interesting thinking it might happen
as a michigan fan, i loved cade when he was here. he wasn’t a uber-athletic qb but was a solid a game manager, and i was hoping for the best for him when he transferred to iowa. but since then, his personality has really soured him for me. numerous times he has said backhanded comments towards JJ and michigan. i guess being on the iowa offense is some sort of purgatory or punishment from the football gods😂
just get dan mullen or scott frost as OC. firing your head coach wont be a good thing since yall establish a defensive culture since its harder to go from elite defense to high powered offense
Kirk’s not going to retire. He is making way too much money to quit. He’ll at least coach out his current contract if Iowa lets him. As an Iowa fan though Kirk’s biggest mistake was giving the job to his son in the first place. It was clearly a nepotism thing and has wasted a lot of great defenses as a result.
The issue isn't Brian. I mean, it's party Brian. But it's also Kirk. Kirk hired George Barnett to coach this woeful offensive line. No coordinator or QB could survive such a pitiful line in this scheme. The only solution is to convince Kirk to retire. But how? Crazy as it seems, Iowa must promise to promote Brian Ferentz to head coach as Kirk's successor, if he retires this year. Then, and only then, can Iowa hire a real OC with real juice.
Iowa is the inverse of USC. SC will score a bunch and give up just as many. Iowa won’t let their opponent score, but can’t find the end zone themselves
Iowa needs desperately to move on from incompetent offensive coaches, yes to include the HC. They can't compete against really good teams. The less than power 5 teams they can. Plus, college football is moving on from the anemic, vanilla pro- style offense, it's awful
Brian has got to step down at some point. Even after all this, I respect Kirk and what he has done there, but Its just gotten out of hand right or wrong.
Biggest problem is the coach is seem to be bigger then the program and for some reason he has done something to earn something more then any other coach would get. He hasn't brought us any titles he hasn't even brought us out right bigten titles. He just seems to fight against change tooth and nail and then pretends like they didn't already know these problem were this bad and now it to late so we just got to deal with it. KF is not a Hall of Fame coach and never will be in my eyes he is just a guy who coned an AD to keep him on for allot of cash by winning against inferior teams. Is he a good guy probably is he a good coach nope
The upcoming schedule does not get any easier??? What ??? The big ten west ? What are you smoking? Like to have some of that in your rose colored world
Brian, I know you're reading this. We're begging you--BEGGING you--please, please, please do the respectable thing and step down. You are killing the program. Please quit.
I'm a fan of a different conference and I understand loyalty to a coach and team but Iowa is and has been arguably the worst Power 5 team in the last few years. At some point you have to get a new coach and stop wasting what talent you do have.
Cade wasn't the reason why Michigan won the Big Ten, this video and what he said, is proof of it. Doesn't take responsibility for his mistakes. His lack of talent has been exposed, for he doesn't have the supporting cast, like he did at Michigan.
