Wow, I live in New England but grew up in Iowa. Iowa 80, Perla tulips, mega tenderloins, Effigy mounds, have seen them all. Dyersville where the farm toy museum is was where the movie Field of Dreams was filmed and major league baseball game was played this summer.
My mom is from a small town about 18 miles from Decorah, Cresco. Iowa is such a beautiful state, especially when you're close to the Mississippi. The people are wonderful too. I'm so glad you have fun visiting and I've been to the coop in Decorah. Small world!
My Younger Sister, Me, And My Mom Go With My Aunt Patty Every Begining And end Of The School Year At Iowa State University To Drop My Cousin Sophia Off Or Pick her Up From College And Always Pass By This Truck Stop Love It!
MY DAD OWNED THE TRUCK STOP AND THE MILE SECTION FARM FIELDS AT THE I-80 201 EXIT. SO YOU DROVE RIGHT BY IT. YOU ALSO DROVE BY 7 MILES SOUTH OF MY LAKE CABIN. SMALL WORLD! WHEN YOU DROVE BY GRINNELL, IOWA BROWNELLS, I WAS PROBABLY WORKING AS A GUN TECH, RETIRED NOW. DECORA, YELLOW RIVER FOREST ARE MY FAVS IN IOWA. ENJOY IOWA!!!!
Those pork tender sandwiches are definitely the bomb. Once again a great video. Thanks for sharing. My daughter went to Clarke University in Dubuque, so when you said Mines of Spain my ears perked up! Lol..
I vote for 1 of those horns!!! That's the biggest sandwich I'VE ever seen!!!! I've always been wondering about that booble head on your dashboard, safe travels!!
WTR, HI. this area surely is nice, missippippi river up there for starters , there was a place on a side trip for a convention I to ST LOUIS IN 1995 WAS A WINERY, whom just happened to make the #2 SHERRY IN TTHE WORLD, showed us photos where the ol miss came right there but is now 2 miles away ! In 95 , you need to hear those TUGBOATS GOING UP RIVER WITH several full barges, , from a mile away ! Stay well, happy trails , 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nicely edited - Iowa is a pretty state, no question. So is Wisconsin and Minnesota - anyplace that gets that much rain is just gonna be, eh? But on the whole, they are people who like to keep their state pretty. You rarely see litter or hoarder yards. It's worth the time.
Much to see in Iowa. You showed no corn fields. Nice bit of history. Pella is lovely with all the tulips blooming. Surprised you didn't get t-shirts at toy tractor museum. When in Indiana you need to try Tenderloin Trail there. 😀
We spent 2 weeks in Des Moines to visit family and really liked the area. I was probably in Pella just a week before you! Too bad you couldn't tour the museum at the I-80 Truck Stop - it's fantastic!
I was born and raised in Iowa, so I love to see it featured. You will have to return as you easily missed at least half of the state. Rural Iowa is all about the corn and pigs, so the tenderloin trail is no surprise. Glad you enjoyed your trip!
I’ve been to the Truck Stop a few. Breaded pork tenderloins are the best!! Pickles , onions, mustard is all you are supposed to use!! You guys should of went and toured the John Deere plant in Waterloo Iowa.
Enjoyed your tour of my home state! You even camped at my favorite spot(#56) in Central Park close to Center Junction. Many places to dine on a delicious tenderloin sandwich in this state. Thanks for hi lighting Iowa!!
I’m glad you took one for the team and did the beer tasting 😉. Pork tenderloin is a staple across western Ohio, Indiana, Illinois as well as Iowa. Anywhere else, the definition is different!
I liked it. I'm getting ready to leave from Palm Coast Florida to Alaska I'm a retired Navy Photographer 1971 to 1975. I'm going to photograph my trip and some video. My dad was a engineer on the Alaskan Highway in WW2 so I'm tracing his footsteps. I have a 2014 F350 diesel with a Nucamp Cirrus 820. I'm waiting for the Canadian border to open up on June 21st. See you on the road maybe and I am a Minnesota native but left the cold behind in 94.
Haven’t seen you guys for a month! Enjoyable video since I moved to California from Illinois. The countryside looks like home. Glad to see you had fun!
@@Weretherussos Like pork stakes in St. Louis. Whats a pork stake? Come to St. Louis to find out. Also, gooey butter cake, toasted ravioli, Imo's pizza, St Paul sandwiches to name a few foods to try. Free zoo, and many other free attractions.
Looks like this is an older video but first time for me seeing it. Your friend must not be a native Iowan he would have never put ketchup on a pork tenderloin. It's like going to Chicago and putting ketchup on a hot dog. Lol. To each his own though. The Northeast Iowa driftless zone is gorgeous.
Lived in Iowa City area 5 yrs getting Chem Eng degree 1961-66. Don't know if UR still in Iowa but suggest lunch on outside roof dining in an Amana Colonies restaurant. The furniture shop out there is amazing. RV scale grandfather clock?
That was a very nice and inviting way to visit Iowa-with meeting great friends, enjoying the food🍔, flowers🌷🌷🌷, and museums🪑🧹! Take care, and thanks for sharing!💕
I had no idea Iowa could be so interesting, living here in Minnesota. Looks like a "pork tenderloin trail" trip is in my future. Thanks for the heads-up.
We’ve been at the I80 truck stop and enjoyed their hospitality for a night. They have the bridges of Madison County. The home of John Wayne. Dan - Oklahoma’s Tumbleweeds.
Love the way you travel stop at every dumbass thing you see just like me I remember my kids being mad at me because I would stop at every roadside information plac
I thought for sure you’d be stopping in Riverside, Iowa - future birthplace of Captain James T. Kirk. I’ve always had mayo on my tenderloin, not ketchup. But to each his own. 😊
It’s good to see you two doing videos again. Iowa is beautiful. Just wondering, is there any dispersed camping? You did stay in some nice campgrounds. The scenery and Missouri River was beautiful and it’s always fun to see and hear about the local food scene. Glad you are enjoying yourselves and sharing it with us.😀
I could not help but notice that you have a cracked windshield. In a lot of States, it allows Officers to stop and ticket you. Some States require you to change your windshield within 48 hours. It is considered a safety issue to prevent injuries to the occupants of the vehicle should the windshield suddenly fail. Just a heads up about what can happen. If you don't care, just disregard this comment.
