I wish the Auburn fans will embrace and cheer the exact same for every one of our gymnast the way they cheer for Suni… I’m an Auburn fan and I’m mad all the tickets sold out “immediately” because we now have an Olympian! (I do have the Florida meet ticket though) I don’t think they should put so much attention on Suni and give praise for how far Auburn has come as a gymnastics team.
I understand where you are coming from but Suni Lee is just like Kyla Ross was with UCLA. Suni adds recruitment power to Auburn so they are going to take full advantage of her being with Auburn. And also she is someone to bring attention to College gymnastics like Katelyn Ohashi did with her perfect 10 rutine. Being able to say were are the first school to have the raining Olympic All Around champion to compete in the NCAA is quite a feat. So in some ways you should be happy she is there, she is getting Auburn a lot of attention. And if they are packing out the arena then that means more money for Auburn gymnastics which is always good.
@@fayeraye Well what I was trying to get at is it just won't happen. I agree they should but most likely most of the "new fans" of Auburn are fans because of Suni not of Auburn itself. They are coming to the meet to see Suni not Auburn. I agree it sucks but you could argue that this is something that will always be a thing. Just like with Katelyn Ohashi and UCLA people came because of her not the team. It will die down after this first year and Auburn, if they don't win the national championship or make a run for it at least, Auburn will settle back down to being either 4th or 5th in the SEC. What I was trying to say is the buzz she is creating will help in recruiting in the next couple of years which will hopefully boost Auburn and maybe they can dethrone Florida and UCLA in the SEC and so far they are putting up solid team scores.
@@fayeraye Honestly looking at Auburns socials especially now that the season has started they don't feature her that much more than anyone else on the team. It's not their fault that the fan base is more interested in her, hopefully that love of gymnastics will continue after she graduates!
Great meet! Thanks for uploading it! Congrats Auburn. Great vault from Sophia, Sara, Josie, and Emilie. Great bars from Ana, Aria, and Suni. Great beam from Olivia, Aria, Sophia, Gabby, and Meixi. Great floor from Kelsey, Rachel, Andrea, Maddie, Sara, Morgan, Aria, and Sophia. Great bars and beam from Cassie and Hannah. Great bars and floor from Drew and Derrian.
Derrian's floor was a lot more worthier of a 10 than those 2 routines from UF last week, how much it costs to give this amazing woman just ONE f*** 10?
I know right! I was like "a toe-on tkatchev is not.. a hindorff?". It's also unnecessarily confusing that she calls a regular Tkatchev a 'reverse Hecht', everyone just knows it as a Tkatchev so why not just call it that? She also confused a gymnasts head with her bottom.. (@22:06)
11:28 Okay. This is why I get pissed at vault scores like Megan Roberts. Drew does a similar vault here. She twists a little early. She doesn't have the best height. Her knees are soft. Her hips are a little piked, and bless her trying to fake that decent landing into a stuck one. However, each of these things is just very a tiny bit less noticeable/objectionable than with Megan...plus Drew had way better toe point. She should be scoring higher than Megan, but because Megan is from GA, she suddenly gets a huge score. I actually think Drew's score is about where it should be...maybe even a little high... ...I just think Megan's should be at about a 9.75 or 9.8.
I watched the first half of the meet, then had to do something else and then when I wanted to watch the rest it was gone :( so sad that it got blocked :(
I LOVE Toi as a commentator but that other guy is HORRIBLE as a gymnastics commentator. I’m sure he is great at football or basketball but he doesn’t fit gymnastics. At one point he said, “That was a nice move.” Poor Toi carried him the entire meet.
meet requests: Oklahoma, Stanford and Utah State at Arizona on the Arizona live stream channel, West Chester at Cornell, Towson at NC State on ACCNx, Eastern Michigan at Illinois State and BYU at Southern Utah (full meet until the very end please like Arizona at Southern Utah with awards, post meet coach interview)...older meet requests, Texas Women's at Iowa, Brown, LIU and West Chester at Yale, Central Michigan at Eastern Michigan, and Yale at Penn State (most priority) full meets with awards
I've looked up in a few places and can't find a consistent answer. What is meant by "built in deductions"? What I was thinking was deduction due to improper form in a difficult skill the gymnast chooses to do for the higher starting value in hopes to improve. I've seen it described as continual form breaks due to improper technique, but also as deductions due to pretty much impossible requirements in the code. I would appreciate the help. I'm not a gymnast but have watched it my entire life and am learning a lot from the gymnastics community.
it's something like a gymnast choose a certain skill to satisfy requirements for a score, but they can't seem to do that skill perfectly ever, so it would be best if they tried another skill. So critiques will say it's a built in deduction.

I think so... let me check. Yeah, cause I think that is the release that Kennedi Edney (who graduated in 2020) did and Alicia Sacramone Quinn called it a hindorff and it was from a hip circle.
I kinda hate how the boys that had Auburn spelled on their chests were making fun of the girls from Iowa State by dramitically copying their starting/ending poses.
Isn't that one of the roles of cheerleaders? They try to pump up their team while distract the opponents? You have to take it in stride, in college rivalries.
