*We purchased this after moving, and previously had a spotlight **Newest.Technology** cam with solar power. The wired pro cam has much better light (about the same as a bright porch light), and the image is significantly more clear with much better details.*

It appears to me that the 265 compression actually made more details stand out and gave me a better view, call me crazy since I am only watching this on a 1080p but it looked real good. Thanx for the vid, thumbs up.

Thank you, we agree that the H.265+ compression works brilliantly

Thanks for your posts. I have found your various camera assessments very informative. Your descriptions of the camera results as the day progresses into night are excellent. I also like your 1/2 screen side by side comparisons, which make it easy for the lay person like myself to see the real world differences. Re the HIKVISON H.265+ codec, amazing bandwidth savings. I am still deciding which camera/system to purchase (cost etc.), is the H.265+ codec available as a firmware update for all HIKVISON cameras, or only selected models? Thank you.

Thank you for your nice words (we try our best :) ), in answer to your question about H.265+, at the moment it is only Hikvision's EasyIP 3.0 range that has H.265+ and is likely to stay this way for a while, it's part of the tiering structure that separates their product ranges to encourage customers to spend more, e.g. a special feature that you pay more to get

UPDATE: apologies I've just been informed that a small number of models from the previous generations of cameras will be firmware upgradeable to this CODEC - PTZ models including suffix 'DE'

Thank you for your reply. I get that they are encouraging me to spend more with that special feature...time will tell if they succeeded. Time for more research! :D

Thanks Gavin, glad to hear you like the camera, the combination of the 8MP sensor and the turret design has produced a camera that performs excellently and that we have been incredibly impressed with. Also if this is your first time buying an IP camera system I would recommend checking out System Selection Guide video - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EtiBWJhq3Z4.html - it will take you through everything you need for a basic system.

Does Hikvision have any cameras that supports HLC? I'm looking for a good 24/7 system that can see at night time and possibly license plates as well.
@useIP
@useIP 2 года назад
Hi, most Hikvision cameras support HLC, it is a pretty standard feature. You can double-check the datasheet for each model to confirm support for HLC. This feature will help with reading number plates, but it is not a perfect solution as the camera will likely still struggle to read plates if they are moving too quickly or if the angle of the plate changes (e.g. if the car turns a corner as it approaches the camera).

Can you suggest an 4K 8mp, PTZ, auto tracking camera that is reasonably priced? I would like a 15X zoom or higher.
@useIP
@useIP 6 лет назад
Hi, PTZ are always at the pricer end of the IP camera range, if you then adding 4K and auto-tracking you are getting into very expensive cameras, the cheapest we offer with all these features is this Samsung Wisenet model - www.use-ip.co.uk/wisenet-pnp-9200rh-4k-ptz.html - you won't get anything cheaper that is PTZ, 4K, and features auto-tracking

Is it the higher MP that causes the video to appear in slow motion? Fantastic quality but the slow mo is a tad annoying
@useIP
@useIP 7 лет назад
Hi, we've never come across any slowing in the playback performance of any of the cameras we've demoed and we have played this video back on everything from a 1080p PC screen to a 4K TV and we saw no loss in performance which ever way we watched it, possibly try going into video settings on this video and lowering the playback resolution as it may be that your pushing your computer too hard to try and play the video at full 4K resolution
@mikeysky8917
@mikeysky8917 7 лет назад
use-IP Ltd Thanks for that. The video playing on my devices show it's not fluent flowing. The tree branches etc are moving at a slow pace. Could be just my end. Will look into it.

Mikey, it's probably because the whole video is recorded at 6 frames/sec. Towards the end of the video he explains why it shouldn't need to be any faster for this type of surveillance (more storage space required, etc.). Hope that helps.

Hi, how would this compare to the 2355, night and day? Any major differences, just for a driveway, thinking of a 2355 2.8mm. Would a Synology DS216+II do the job as an NVR for 2 cameras with a WD purple, 3TB, for start, adding another red one for backup stuff or would you recommend something else. Thank you.
@useIP
@useIP 7 лет назад
Hi Samson, we have recorded a video for the 2355 that you can find on our channel, overall the difference is quite small but the night performance is marginally better on the 2385 and for both day and night the image clarity in all lighting conditions is a lot better on the 2385. In relation to the Synology question, you will have to double check with Synology as to whether or not this model is compatible or not using their compatibility list - www.synology.com/en-us/compatibility/camera?brand=HikVision

Hi, we have found that H265+ recordings do not playback on either Apple or Android iVMS4500 and Hik-connect apps. Have you found this to be the case?
@useIP
@useIP 7 лет назад
No, we haven't seen any problems when using H.265+ with the app, maybe try posting all the information you have about the issue to our forum forum.use-ip.co.uk/forums/hikvision.49/ (others on the forum might have had a similar problem) and if you don't get any help there last resort would be to report the issue to Hikvision themselves.

Can the Hikvision DS-7604NI-K1-4P(B) 4-channel NVR bandwidth supports 4 cameras using Hikvision DS-2CD2385FWD-I 8MP Turret (6mm) models? Thanks!
@useIP
@useIP 5 лет назад
Hi Brian, the Max. incoming bandwidth of the 7604 is 40Mbps, 4 x 2385's streaming at 20fps and using H.265 will use around 35Mbps so you should be fine (especially as we don't recommend recording at max. frame rate anyway, 15fps will give you a perfectly smooth image).
@brianpayne3468
@brianpayne3468 5 лет назад
@@useIP How many days of data, if a 2 TB disk if using 15 fps? Can the Hikvision Software store only images that are moving, thus save disk space? Thanks!
@useIP
@useIP 5 лет назад
@@brianpayne3468 A 2TB drive will give you about 7-8 days of recording if you are recording all 4 x 2385 at full resolution and 15fps, you can set the NVR to record only when motion is detected and this will save storage space, but setting up motion detection can be a lot of trial & error. If something is important is missed by motion detection the NVR will not record and you will not have the footage you need, whereas continuous recording will record everything.

does this camera have sound? would be perfect if it does..

The Hikvision turrets don't support audio, if you want similar design that does support audio I would recommend these Milesight models - www.use-ip.co.uk/search/?q=5d75

@@bobbyyy776 Hi, the only 4K models that support audio are these ones - www.use-ip.co.uk/hikvision/hikvision-easyip-3?audio=770&megapixels=745 - but they only have Audio I/O for connecting a separate Microphone or speaker - there is no 4K Hikvision model with a built-in Mic

Could you record at 1080p at higher fps?
@useIP
@useIP 7 лет назад
Hi, you can lower the recorded resolution to 1080p and get a higher fps, but only a max. of 25fps (up from 20fps) so not really worth the resolution loss

what is ekir and does it matter?
@useIP
@useIP 6 лет назад
Hi Amir, I assume you mean EXIR, EXIR stands for Enhanced Infrared, Infrared(IR) LEDs are used by IP cameras to help them see at night. EXIR LEDs are the next step up from standard IR LEDs and are more powerful and provide better scene coverage than the old IR LEDs (and the EXIR is even more effective on the turret model above as it uses a 2-window design with the LEDs separate from the sensor this removes IR reflection and allows the IR to cover the scene better)

is this uhd or 4k camerA ?
@useIP

Hi, most if not all IP cameras that are 8MP are labeled as 4K, but they will playback fine on a UHD TV or monitor

o k great but are they H.265 for better clarity. Does Hik have any PTz. 4 mpix cams ?
@useIP
@useIP 6 лет назад
the 2385 supports up to H.265+ compression, this doesn't improve or reduce the quality of the recording it just reduces the amount of storage and bandwidth the camera uses. In terms of 4MP PTZ, Hikvision doesn't offer many 4MP option they prefer 3 & 5MP, the most affordable 3MP PTZ they offer is this model - www.use-ip.co.uk/hikvision-ds-2de3304w-de-mini-ptz.html - for more Hikvision PTZ options you can look at the PTZ section on our webshop - www.use-ip.co.uk/hikvision/ptz

many youtubes show much better veiwing quality with the h265.
@useIP
@useIP 6 лет назад
you won't get better quality with H.265, you may seeing it at lower qulity because RU-vid usually defaults to playing everything at 1080pHD, check the settings at the bottom of the video to play it in 4K (be aware you will only see 4K quality with a 4K monitor) also our video might look slightly lower quality as we record our demos with the camera setup with more practical settings for recording (e.g. lower frame rate, compression set high, etc...) other demos Max. all the camera settings but if you do this when recording continuously you would use up a couple of TBs of storage in days

NO ZOOM, whats the point?
@useIP
@useIP 5 лет назад
Hi Alan, zoom or Varifocal cameras are useful if you are unsure of what focal length you need to cover your area or if you need to cover a very narrow area (most VF models will go to 12mm and beyond while fixed often only go up to 6mm), but 90% of the time a VF/zoom camera is just a fixed focal length camera (you zoom to a position and leave it there) and so for example if you have a wide area to record there is no point purchasing a VF/zoom camera as you are just going to leave the camera at it's widest FoV. Also another issue is that people purchase zoom cameras to play with the zoom, but this can be a risk to your properties security because it is easy to zoom in on something that you spotted while watching the live view, leave the camera zoomed in and covering a very small FoV and then have someone break into your property out of view of the camera. The final point is price, the above 2385 will cost you around £200, while the equivalent VF Turret model (2H85) will cost you over £300
