Signal was excited to present excerpts from their most recent theatre work, "Nôhkom" as part of the Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance (IPAA) Annual General Meeting in Toronto this past October. The evening was extraordinary, since in a palpable way Toronto's entire Indigenous performing community had gathered with artists from all across Canada to support each other. The attendees were generous, inquiring, and impassioned. The AGM performance was held at the Cahoots theatre space and this intimate venue was absolutely packed by the time, Michael Greyeyes (Signal's AD) took the stage to perform. "Nôhkom" premiered at The Banff Centre in May 2013 and is written and performed by Greyeyes, with 4 additional performers. The full work incorporates a significant amount of dance, but on this night, Signal presented only the narrator's spoken portions of the work. Greyeyes remembers, "that with the first words I spoke, I knew the audience was ready to go on a journey with me." This video was recorded live during his performance. (Video by Brian Kent Gotro).
