I got my new iPhone 14 two days ago, loving it so far. The camera is gorgeous. For someone like me, coming from a cheap Xiaomi phone, this is a considerable upgrade. After buying all required camera gear I require for my work, I ended up saving for an iPhone. FYI I owned an iPhone 5s once and coming back to iPhone feels amazing and safe.
I got the normal 14 and it’s amazing and makes me feel safe when in the car. The 14 is going to sell better when the iPhone 15 comes out. The 14 and the 13 will sell better if the 15 sucks
For US models there is a difference that some people think is important. Only the 13 has a physical SIM card tray. All US based iphone 14 models are eSim only. For people who switch between phones or use cheap sim cards for data when traveling this may be a concern.
This just made my decision while choosing between these two phones. I’m a no case kind of person & at least yearly need to put my SIM card into an old phone while I wait for an insurance replacement. No physical SIM tray is a dealbreaker for the 14! Thank you!
You know what grinds my gears, the 14 has the same chip as the 13 Pro yet they made the Photonic engine (which is just moving deep fusion back to the raw sensor data) exclusive to the 14. They never improve cameras that are already out despite being software defined.
I’ve made the upgrade from the 12 to the 14 and indeed the differences are small. But nice improvements nonetheless. The things I noticed the most are the cameras (specially at night) and the battery life is SO much better so for these reasons alone I’m very happy with the upgrade. But yeah all the new iPhone upgrades nowadays are very minor, so don’t expect much. I just did the upgrade cuz the difference I had to put in to upgrade was really small.
How long is the battery life? I noticed my old iPhone battery drains very fast in cold weather, say below 5 degree Celsius, but above freezing outside. Are the new iPhones's battery perform well in cold temperature?
Also some things that werent mentioned. The iphone 14 uses Bluetooth 5.3 vs 5.0 on the 13 and the 14 also uses the x65 modem vs the x60 on the 13 series
I had the iPhone X since 2020 February. I recently got the iPhone 14 and all I can say is that the upgrade was worth it. Waiting 4-5 years for a new iPhone is ideally the best option.
@@Seca95 Honestly the iPhone 14 is great overall, but if you want you could upgrade for the iPhone 16 which is coming out in two months. Rn the 14 is at good price but those are the two best choices for you.
@@Man-Man-223 Oh no, I’m not going to wait for the new one. 1: I don’t want to spend too much on a cell phone. I’ll pay for a 15 at most. And 2: The reason I’m looking for a new phone is bc my XS is slowly but surely getting out of order. I’m going on a vacation in a weeks time and need a new phone ASAP.
@@Seca95 hmm ok then nvm, maybe the 14 or the 15 would be the best option since they’re both recent and they’re at a good price; especially the iPhone 14.
i bought the iphone 14 today. In my country there isn’t official apple stores, so the best deal was offered by my carrier. They didn’t had the 13 on stock, and the only option they sell is the 128gb, whereas the 14 only with 256gb, and with 100 bucks of difference, so i think i made a great decision here.
I bought the 13 from the Apple Store few weeks ago because it was cheaper than the 14 but I had no idea they were that similar. So I guess I got lucky.
Me as well. Got 256 as it almost same price as 12 128 gb. Figured 13 good enough. Battery is what I am most happy with. Also had white se 2020. Actually lost it! Kind of miss it but 13 just better in every way. Battery is twice as good
Even I am Big fan of Sony mobiles from Sony Ericsson Era and have used only sony ericsson and sony phones till 2020 June. My last sony phone was Xperia R1 dual. The phone was damaged due to fell down and unable to get repair. So shifted one plus.
Same here! I am a Sony phone fan and still am. Idk why but i prefer sony than samsung before i upgraded to iPhone 6s Plus(2015/2016)then straight to other iPhones ever since. Hope sony makes a comeback.
why are there people that upgrade every time there's a new phone. yes i get that u have the money but dude, even if i'm rich i'll have a phone for 4-5 years. as long as it functions as a "phone" why would i frckn upgrade?
This actually isn’t the first time Apple is using the same chip as the previous year. The iPhone 5c launched a year after the iPhone 5, and they both have the same chip.
Does no-one remember how similar the 12 & 13 models are? Thats why Im like the 12 should of been an 11S model. The 13 should be 12 because the notch is smaller, the 14 should be a 13S & the 14Pro should just be the 14. They really need to bring back the S naming scheme.
Just went from a iPhone 11 64gs to iPhone 13 256gs, and the improvements are definitely noticeable but not jaw dropping noticeable, I’m indeed happy with my decision especially the storage by far, I don’t plan on getting a new phone for at least 2-3 years. If any of you guys have the 12 or 13, the 14 is just a waste of money, your better off waiting for the iPhone 15/16.
I'm also looking to upgrade from the 11 but I am conflicted between the 13 and 14 - would you recommend that I pick the 13? It was originally my intention.
@@alicenora13fwb if you planned on getting the 13 then that’s a smart decision, because it’s literally identical to the iPhone 14, camera’s, the look, the same a15 chip, not to mention the 13 is only the one year old which is still new, unless your going for the 14 PRO or MAX, don’t get the 14, regular 13 should do.
@@Z0D1ACC If you choose 14 over 13, make sure it's 14 pro or 14 pro max. Otherwise you can choose 13 which is cheaper than 14 and will do the same job.
I'm aware of how powerful the A processors are, but it's hard for me to justify upgrading the 13 for the 14. The only reason would be if you don't have an iphone, because even the cases have to be replaced.
@@MatthewMoniz with Apple reusing the same chip for the second time in a row, I just hope that the previous iPhones will be around for much longer I could see Apple drop support for the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 14 at the same time.
Essentially identical? No. But 14 is a small upgrade that I'd want, but not worth the extra cost. So I will be buying 13 soon. Upgrading from 6S so the difference will be big.
Greatly enjoyed your video, both informative and interesting. One thing I always think after I watched these is I wonder what percentage of people are walking around with phones that have so many features they will never use that they would have been better off sticking with the phone not just from last year but maybe a couple of years ago as they haven't even mastered that phone? I mean how many people actually need directors cut for video and how many take photos that actually get developed. I have the S21 Ultra and take a lot of photos and share them but it's through social media or on messages or messenger. I mean they never get developed so how good do I really need? It just makes me smile to myself when I see people sitting in the doctor's office talking about the new phone they have and they have no idea what features it has and probably never will!
Here in Europe ( Malta) the difference is like 200/250 euro. Basically, we get the iphone 14 for 1000, 14 pro for 110 and pro max for 1250. I don't think it's worth it here. Even the base m2 air starts at 1400! Starts! Edit ! The 1 tb option is 2150! What a ripp off
To be fair, the biggest disappointment to me when I decided to get the iPhone 13 instead of the 13 Pro back in 2021 was the camera, and it still is to this day. You just can't do macro with it at all, you can only zoom in from further away, also night photos compared to my gf's 13 Pro are just not even close. If lighting is really bad, you have to wait 3-4 seconds to take a photo in many cases, which for someone without steady hands is quite a hassle. I am not a content creator and I'm not even that much of a hobby photographer so I couldn't justify the extra price of a 13 Pro in my case, but even for a casual camera user like me it is very noticeable. Even though the 14 really is kind of a 13S (and a weak one at that too), the one thing I really notice lacking in the 13 is exactly what they updated. Other than that though, loving it ever since. But if I see myself upgrading from the 13 to a newer iPhone in the next 2-3 years, it will most probably be because of the camera. Otherwise the thing is perfect and will stay relevant for years I reckon, I got 4 years out of my iPhone 8 and if it didn't have such a crappy battery I would've used it for another year probably, expecting that lifespan or more with the 13 as well.
I have an iPhone 7 and Im getting a new phone next month on a plan. 14 is $4 more a month than the 13. The 15 is out in a few weeks. Im going to see what the difference is. Any phone, 13, 14 or 15 will be better than the the old 7 Ive got now.
I have a motorola e5 plus that i've been using for almost 4 years now (it sucks, but it still somehow holds up to this day). I want to upgrade to an iPhone. Specifically an iPhone 13 or better. Just need to find good deals ig. Also I've never owned an Apple product in my life so yeah. Wish me luck
In EU at least where I live the price bump of iPhone 13 to 14 is 200€ (and well same for the rest of 14 lineup) I don't see a single reason for you to buy the baseline iPhone 14 here unless you are wealthy and got money to burn
@@wiizardx I do not mean rich by saying wealthy, maybe should have used a better wording There are most definitely people out there who always just buy the baseline iPhone and nothing else cause they can't be bothered or aren't interested in doing more research
In Poland where i live the price difference between the two is around 300-400 Polish Zloty (Polish money) that translates to circa 100 dollars. I, as it is my first iPhone, have bought 14 256 GB version. It has better camera than non-pro 13, has better front camera (with autofocus) than both 13 and 13 pro. If i was an iphone 13/13 Pro owner i wouldnt go fo 14 at all. But like i said i just moved from android and i think 14 is fking great :)
Ever since I started using the iPhone, I don't think I will ever go back to android (tend to lag after a year or so. It is not doing that on the iPhone even on my older iphone 8 Plus). I am still using my 11 Pro Max.
@@bodcillano7605 Actually i went from Oppo Reno 6 Pro 5G wich was 6.55" and 90Hz AMOLED (OnePlus 7 Pro with 6.7" screen befor that) and i actually think i have found my "sweet spot" for the screen size. 6.1" is great for watching YT, it isn't a brick when i keep it in my pocket and i can fully use it with one hand. Pro Max is enormous to me now :) I always thought i love huge screens... seems i was mistaken. BTW. I am not a small guy with tiny palms :P
@@VoidCosmonaut Hi there, are you still happy with the iPhone 14? I am kind of torn between the iphone 14 and the samsung s23 which is better almost in every aspect except for the video. I am an Android guy, but I want to try the iOS. Greeting to Poland from the Czech Republic :D
I'm keeping my IP11 pro max. I mean what's there to upgrade? These 2 models doesn't have refresh rate. Battery wise my iP11 pro max remain solid. In Camera department taking photos looks good already. Lastly i prefer the size of 11pro max
I've been looking to upgrade from my OnePlus 6 (great phone but it's not getting updates anymore) and was hoping the 14 models would finally give us USB-C. Hopefully next year!
@@Ignacio.Romero not to an iPhone. I went to a OP10 Pro. Charging speed is really important to me, and in the time it takes an iPhone 15 Pro to charge from 0 to 50%, my OP10Pro will do 0 to 100%. The price for the iPhone 15 Pro is also too much for what it is. Maybe if I had more disposable income I'd do it. Right now the price and RU-vid Revanced keeps me tied to android at the moment.
The 13 is a great phone but to have the extra features is well worth it more ram tweaked camera crash detection and satellite and just a tad better on battery and more ram I’d go for it
@@Writing_mania_02Nah. 14 isn't good imo. I mean the 14 is the same as the 13, but it's not my thing. That's all I can say. But still, the 13 and 14 are the same.
@@CoolMaximus who said? Dont you know that if you accidentally break your phone the repair cost will be cut in half And the camera is better(gets more features) 6gb Ram 6 core CPU and 5 core GPU Compared to a 4 core GPU And there are many more minute changes that I have not mentioned that makes it a bit better of a deal Not to forget an extra year of security update haha It’s your choice now bro Take the phone you like
I'm upgrading from iPhone 6s and I'm having a hard time deciding between iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 (regular). As you said, I know that 13 pro is a better phone in general with a premium camera system. But at the same time, I can't help thinking there must be an advantage in buying a new model when it comes to lasting long. In a year, Iphone 13 pro will be considered dated like the 12 series now. The lesson I learnt from using iPhone 6s for 6 years is that smartphones don't perform as well as it should as time goes by. It simply cannot handle new softwares at some point anymore, which was the reason why Apple intentionally degraded the performance of the older models a few years ago. So with constant software upgrade, I wonder if the 13 pro won't perform as well as the regular 14 in 2-3 years. As a tech expert, what's your take on this? It will help me very much with making a long due decision.
for me i dont think there will be much difference, 13 pro has same chip as 14 and the 13 pros 120hz screen will help it feel faster in future. maybe apple did other changes that help the 14 last longer. i think mostly it depends if you want 120hz or a new phone
You didn't even mention the biggest change of the iPhone 14. Repairability. The inside is completely different from the 13. It makes a big difference if you want to get it repaired at your local repair shop and want to spend less on repairs. So yeah, 100$ CAD difference but it will end up saving you more in the long run purely on repairs.
Hi, so the 14 has better repairability than the 13 ya? I'm still using the 8+ and chose not to upgrade since the 11-13 series even though I could because of this. I feel like buying the 14 Plus. Would you recommend it? Don't really need the Pro features
I know it sounds funny but I really want to move from my Oneplus 8T to the 13. However, the higher refresh rate and the charing speed are the factors holding me back. If Apple only provided a 90hz on the 14 I could have move right then.
I was having a s20 ultra with amoled display and 120 hz refresh rate, finally died after 3 years, i was scary about move to Ios but everything runs so good i bough Iphone 13 and the only thing i miss from Android is the Abstruct wallpapers that i bough. Iphone 13 i have
I don’t see any difference in the camera. My friend has a Samsung, & she was able to zoom into a full moon for a picture…& was able to get CRATERS on the moon!!! I tried that on my 13 pro max..& was very disappointed!! iPhone cameras suck.
Your sons reaction was so cute, it was exactly the same reaction and facial expression as my son would give if I told him to be a model for a review of camera ☺
0:08 He really just said “for the FIRST time in apple history, the current year’s iphone is so similar to the previous year’s” Did he forget the 6/6s? No hate
I travel a bit and even 60 miles from home I have lost cell signal at night off the beaten path when I shut off my car and it didn't start right away and oh crap ! I'm old, So the feature with the 14 & satellite looks appealing to me. PS I've never had an i phone before but daughters urging me to get one.
Had a 14 Pro for a day; I returned it after that day. Why? I couldn’t get it to activate. Plus, it’s heavy as hell. That e-sim is a huge pia. Went back to another brand new 256GB 13 mini. THAT’S the phone to get peeps! The 14’s are a sham.
Currently having 11pro, some heating occasionally, battery efficiency getting worse, reception is bad. And no 5g Only good thing I like is the camera Is it worth upgrading to iPhone 13?
3 and 3gs were almost identical. 4 and 4s were almost identical. 6 and 6s too. SE and SE and 8 were almost identical. Depending on what aspects you choose to blatantly ignore water could be considered almost identical to Coke.
I just got the iPhone 13 two days ago because my iPhone 10s got destroyed. And I love this iPhone 13 I just honestly don’t rlly see much of a difference from the iPhone 10s to the 13 other then camera

My mom and I just changed our iphones xr we've had for the past 5 years, she got the 14 and I got the 13 and they're indeed almost identical in every aspect
Upgraded from iphone 11 to 14. My use is only for work, which consist mainly online drives for files, excel files etc… Nothing spectacular. My battery health was 80% so it played a major role on why I traded my iphone for newer generation. I traded my iphone 11 for 14 and got the deal for 650€.
Sorry but the crash detection alone is worth the 14, instead of the 13. My life is worth more than $100 and you know people will survive because of it. Aldo, the 14 is a bit lighter
I keep hearing reviews over youtube telling that there ain't much difference between 12 and the 14. I definitely feel a 12 user can happily upgrade to the 14. No need to say "if you have an iPhone 11 then you can upgrade". I previously had an iPhone 12 had i can see a huge improvement in camera quality and a decent improvement in battery life. Features like cinematic mode is much optimised for daily use now, it was very bad on the 13 and 13 pro. The front cam also feel very good now.
You're totally trying to justify your purchase and that's 100% ok. We are all nerds at heart and having the latest and greatest is a passion of ours but lets be honest the update from 12 to 14 is not a big one. But I'm glad you're happy with the 14 regardless its a solid phone. Thanks a lot for watching!
