Still holding onto my 12 Pro Max. The phone still looks as good as I day I took it out the box. The Otterbox case gave out first. Waited till the wonderlust presentation to see if I could find a good reason to upgrade. Didn’t see one. Ordered a new case. I used to upgrade every 2 years. That turned into 3 years. Now we are headed to 4 years. As long as everything works I can hold out another year. iPhone 16 Let’s Go!
I was on the same boat as you but sadly my battery life is awful. I was going to cough up the $80 to have it replaced when all of a sudden my bottom main speaker stopped working. That’s probably another $80-$100 repair and I don’t feel it’s worth it. So I’m trading it in and getting $450 towards the 15 Pro Max.
@@JuanTheMon no problem at all! You can probably get more $$ if you sell your phone privately on OfferUp just be on the lookout for scammers. I always make sure the account wasn’t created recently, they’ve either sold or bought items and they have to have a 5 star rating. Anything lower than 5 stars means they’ve had issues with buyers or sellers. Selling to Apple was just a convenience for me. Good luck!
I feel crazy because I just upgraded from the 12PM to the 15PM and I feel like the camera quality is actually much worse on the back camera specifically. I hate the 15PM so far but I'm going to keep playing with the settings. Haas anyone else experienced this?! My old 12PM was amazing!
Of all the iPhone customers right now who are contemplating an upgrade, those who still have the 12s are the most likely to actually go ahead and upgrade… Soo you’d think there’d be way more videos targeted towards that audience.. but for some reason, this was like one of videos, out of like 1,000 of em, that actually compared the 15 vS. 12s.. so huge shoutout to Matt for making this video for us. Thanks man 👏🏼👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks for this comparison Matt. I currently own a 12 Pro Max and ordered my 15 Pro Max on launch day. This video provided very informative information about the under the hood differences between the two phones.
Helll Yeaaa man… I couldn’t find anyone who was comparing the 12 and 15 pro iPhones till I caught this video… huge thanks to Matt for making this one. 👍🏽🫡
Thanks for this vid. Not many of us are lucky enough to upgrade every year and most provide contracts are 36 months so with that in mind seeing a comparison from the 12 to the 15 is more of a real world scenario for a lot of us. Watching this has made me realise how little the upgrades over the years from my 12 pro max through to the latest gen will affect me. I’d love a 120 refresh just because I notice it on my iPad Pro but other than that I am not a user that will get any major benefits from the extras. Well certainly not enough gains to warrant locking myself into another 36 months of big bills. I love photography and this still achieves more than enough. I don’t do a lot of video. I don’t really play games on my phone but the future of the A17 chip looks amazing for gaming on apple devices . My 12 PM is still going strong. All iPhones I have had the battery health suffered after 2 years but not this one. Looking forward to using this phone for as long as I can and having monthly bills of around 18 squid. Thanks again for the vid and I think my android chums would make me suffer for suddenly having a USBC 😂
I’m probably keeping the 12 pro max. Don’t see that the upgrades are worth the cost. The camera is nice, but is it worth the cost? I believe I will wait.
Yup! That’s what I did mate. I’m selling my pro max 12 to USell for $505.00 USD and using that $$ to pay down my Apple Pay balance which also gives me 0% for 18 months.@@brianno27
Not sure what service provider you have, but my 12 pro max at AT&T is 1000$ store credit towards the iPhone 15 pro max. I’d be paying around 200$ plus taxes for a new phone. Definitely worth it. If you’re paying the entire flat price, yeah I’m not sure either
@@ambroselopez3786nice man. Things work a lot differently in europe. Thats not possible in europe. if that wasnt bad enough, the prices of iphones are 30-40% more expensive than USA, while we earn less. Im from the Netherlands
Thx for the comparison. I have the 12 pro max that works great but I got the opportunity to upgrade to the 15 pro max for free so can’t turn down a brand new phone!
Thanks for the comparison. A side by side camera comparison to illustrate the difference in photo and video quality would be very useful. Tempted to upgrade but I’ll wait to see a camera comparison before deciding
Thank you for the comparison Will stay at iPhone 12 Pro Max until Apple did make a design change or significant upgrade At the end of the day, pro max is still a very expensive phone and I expect it to last for years
@@DanBCooper Thank you much. I just pre ordered the 15 Pro Max With a $1000 trade in credit. Slight down side .. Arrives in about a month. credit will be spread out in 36 months, which I don’t mind. I upgrade every 3,4 years anyways.
@@XxDeathsEnemyxXit will I don’t get why people waist money on another phone just to get the current model and as soon as u get it here comes the 16 apple kno what they be doing
@@XxDeathsEnemyxXI was having a problem with my iPhone 12 Pro Max where my screen would go extremely dark and I’d have to keep force restarting it to brighten back up and it would be sooo hard for me to see my screen. Hasn’t happened in a few months but idk why that was happening
Thanks for the comparison, I'll hold onto my iphone 12 mp for a few more years, I can't justify paying $1k+ for very little gains on the iPhone 15 mp🤷♂️
I was going to get 12 pro max just b/c of the pacific blue color. Then I waited for the 13 pros to launch to get the 12 pro max cheaper. However the price difference was b/w $35-50 b/w these two when the 13 series launched. People told me that 13 pros are better since the 120 hz screen and battery. I bought the 13 pro max 256gb beautiful silver color and unboxed it, registrered it (imeis) (paid $300 custom fee since it wasnt registered and custom fees not paid) 4 months ago (its the US version). My 13 pro max still rocks, still %100 battery health however my favourite color is on 15 pro max now :) I dont know what to do. I know the cameras will not differ a lot. If I try to trade my almost new 13 pro max, the traders will charge it at most $750-$850. And since 15 pro maxes are just released the base model will be priced $2100-$2250 at the cheapest. They will ask at least $1300 + my 13 pro max 256gb to trade in for a brand new 15 pro max.
A couple hundred bucks isn’t worth a new color man. If you’re actually interested in upgrading for the camera, USB-C, action button, etc., then it may be worth it. Generally best to wait at least 3 generations. I have a 12PM, and will prly upgrade to the 15PM, mainly bc I want the camera upgrade. In any case, there will always be a cool color each year to choose from. Don’t get a fear of missing out. But it’s up to you
I actually have a iPhone 12 Pro Max rn, and this Friday I’m trading in my iPhone 12 Pro max for the iPhone 15 Pro Max 😊 Thanks for the info on the upgrade
Yes, I’m upgrading from a 12 Pro Max to the 15 Pro Max. The improvements and changes will be nice: Better camera with better zoom Better battery life Better video recording 120hz USB-C More RAM More efficient and future proof processor Satellite connectivity Action button No notch And it’s keeping the blue colour which is my favourite colour.
I’ll take that back. AT&T is offering $1k trade in credit on 12 Pro Max, towards the 15 Pro Max. I couldn’t let that pass. I got the 12 pro max for $800 👌2 years ago.
@@elgatosamurai9517 that’s why I upgraded. I couldn’t risk cracking my phone and not getting anything for trade in next year when At &t was gonna give me a 1000 for my 3 yr old device. It was a no brainer to upgrade my phone. My only hesitation was which one to choose, Android or Apple. I gave apple another chance.
@@solarlola5953 haha it is pretty ancient. But I haven’t got any complaints or even a bit of lag after using it for years. Except the need for a storage bump.
I love my 12promax blue. Years of use without a case and it still looks brand new. Great color. Apple hasn’t improved enough to even entice me. Usb c is the only improvement. My screen is on 18 hours a day full brightness and I’ve had very little issues. I’m a otr truck driver and I trust my 12 pro max for my navigation app almost exclusively. Yeah I have a backup up this 12 promax has been nothing but amazing for 3 years now. Battery is still strong, screen has no scratches, it looks brand new, why would I get a 15/16 when the 12 is better looking and doing fine. I dont baby it either, I’ve dropped this thing more times than I can count and never cracked a screen or even scratched it. Got rid of the screen protector years ago and F a case i just put a plate on the back for a magnetic mount. Pulled the plate off a few days ago and you can’t even tell it was on there at all. Was my first iphone and they will have to pry it out of my cold dead hands!
I have a 12 Pro max currently and I think it’s a wonderful device. Mine has defiantly served me well, I do like the dynamic Island & the 120 HZ however it just doesn’t feel like a complete upgrade just yet. I would like to pay my 12 Pro max off and drop my bill lower more than I want a new phone. It does feel more evolutionary vs revolutionary
Wait until the iPhone 17 or 18 to upgrade. There is no real reason to upgrade just yet. Its still going to get updates until 2027 so the 12 Pro and Pro Max have at least 3 years left.
I preordered the 15 Pro Max, yesterday. It'll be my first iPhone since the 7 Plus when I switched to Pixel phones. After nearly 6 years on Android, I'm curious how I'll adapt to iOS.
gonna regret it been iphone for years it a joke going to a samsung ultra camera sucks battery sucks no support and it's just a 80 dollar phone that can't handle tasks. my iphone 14 pro max was junk when i got it locks up loses cell signal battery only gets 3 hours of screen on time. apple put new battery new motherboard new cameras for it freezing during videos still does the same crap and apple wont refund me or stand behind their product every update i do on any iphone me or my friends makes the iphone ten time worse for bugs have to turn it on and off every 5 mins for data to work does it on any provider iphone is junk paying to much for shitty specs wow 48mp camera 1,200 dollars samsung ultra 23 gets 200mp stay with android. you been happy....
I would recommend holding onto a phone until it is 4-6 years old. If your 12 Pro / Pro max is still functioning perfectly then there is no real need to upgrade sense its still going to get updates until 2026 - 2027. As long as the battery will last I see no point in upgrading. Now I'm not saying to not upgrade if you really want the new features then yea definitely upgrade but iPhones are future proofed upon release for at least 8 years. Some people are still using the iPhone X and 8 today. I see them in public all the time.
Funny how iPhone 12 Pro blue color and iPhone 15 Pro blue are basically the same color. The main differences in 2020 it was called "Pacific" blue and in 2023 it's called "titanium" blue.
@@roudhamm I understand there is very slight and subtle differences. But on a $1200 phone I shouldn't have to be a expert with the 152 count of crayons to decipher the two.
I just cancelled my 15 pro max. I think i'll stick with my 12 pro max for another year. The camera really isnt that big of an upgrade considering how good the pics are on the 12.
I have the 12 pro max, went into the Apple Store today to compare. My 12 pro max is like 25% brighter than the 15 pro max on display. Both had same settings for brightness and my 12 pro max beat it. Anyone know why?
I just upgraded from 12 pro max to 15 pro and I’m so much happier with a smaller snappier phone that feels so premium. Even on the smaller phone the battery is slightly better than the big old phone. Camera is miles ahead as well as the FINALLY awaited refresh rate of 120hz
I might skip This years upgrade and go for a Apple Watch Ultra instead as I am not sure that I will be using the 5x zoom as much as I would have been using the 3 x zoom range of the standard pro. I am thus a bit conflicted as I like the extended battery life and larger screen of the max model. Having not preordered any new iPhone I will have ample opportunity to look at real word reviews from people who are experts within the areas like video that does matter to me.
Ordered the 15 Pro Max to replace an iPhone 12 Pro. Definitely a great set of upgrades, considering the three-year difference. Thanks for the informative video!
I’d love to upgrade. But they’re over $2,000 in Australia. Why we always pay more for everything here is beyond me. It’s commonly known as the Australia tax 🤬🤬🤬
i think 12 pro max is still a solid phone in 2023. New 15 came but its not that interesting, also price of 12 pro max will reduce so i think im buying that only. Awesome video btw
Those who are upgrading, I do stand by you, because unfortunately, the 12MP camera a 60HZ screen were outdated even when 12 pro max was launched! Apple still just leveled the hardware game with 15PM in comparison to its competition. Apple only excels in the silicon(A17 - 3NM). My 12PM looks brand new even today because i used a screen guard and a cheap silicone clear case from day1. PS: Am I the only one who thinks the STAINLESS STEEL looks much more BLINGY and premium than titanium? Nonetheless I think except for 120HZ, 48MP, camera & bigger battery, 15PM doesn't offer much The exact same design philosophy is a big dud. Thank you Matt for the video! sending big kudos your way!
I can’t find any videos on anyone making comparisons on the regular iPhone 12 vs the 15PM. If I had a 12PM I probably wouldn’t upgrade but I have a regular 12. It’s a great phone. Have had it for two years. But 64gb isn’t cutting it anymore 😂 Camera is weird but still good. Would love to get the 15PM I believe it’s worth it when it comes to a bigger display, wayyy more storage and the cameras look 🔥 Maybe notice a difference in performance too
6 months later I’m finally gave in and upgraded to the iPhone 15 … went for the pro max in blue as I got the 12 pro max absolutely love it and only kept it so long as Pacific blue in my eyes is the best ever colour Apple have made… looking forward to getting my new phone though 😁
My 12 pro max is still a beast. Besides shattered back glass and 86% battery health, I have zero complaints with it. Unfortunately I can't get the battery changed by apple without replacing the back glass so I'm gonna hold onto it for as long as I can and maybe change the battery myself at some point until it stops working.
Just got a new 12maxpro this week. Backup/new phone from my 11maxpro. My thing is jailbreaking though, the 12 is the last best jailbreak if you can find on on 14.8 . I'll take my 12 over any 15 any day of the week it's so much more useful to me than a stock 15 with barely any upgrades over 3 models, lol.
I upgraded from an iPhone 6 which I bought new, and upgraded to the iPhone 12 Pro Max, I waited roughly 10 years to upgrade, and the 6 is still going strong!!!!!
I have moved to every 3 years since the iPhone 8, after 15 pro max I’m moving to every 4 years, maybe longer, there are no longer any real innovations and no reason to upgrade every 1-2 years.
Ironically the only real reason I don’t want to upgrade is I don’t want to replace all my new lighting cables 😂. My battery is dying in my 12 pro max and was wondering if I should just replace it
In your versus video with the 15 pro max vs 14 pro max you say the battery is over 48 hundred MAH. But you have said in this video and another video that the battery is over 44 hundred MAH for the 15 pro max. Just trying to get a accurate answer.
Upgraded from the iPhone 12 Pro Max to the 15 Pro Max. I’m impressed thus far. My 12 was in pretty much perfect condition because I kept it in a case for the entire two years I had it.
Not big into upgrading my iPhone because the new ones coming out are so redundant. Was planning to keep my 12 PM for a while but it finally happened and my phone got messed up. Dead pixels and the whole back crack. Basically I was forced to order a new phone lol. Ended up just placing an order for the iPhone 15 pro max. I like the usb c setup, I can just carry one charger with me at all times instead of the old Apple charger. Also got 512gb for storage compared to my 128gb for my 12 PM. It will be plenty future proof for me as I won’t be planning to upgrade my 15 PM for a long long time
