@@MrMiyagikarateMaster battery life after ios 18 update has gone down slightly (currently on the latest ios 18.1 beta which is slightly better B/L from the pub 18 release) but still a noticeable difference. Hopefully it gets better with future updates
i'm that guy upgrading from a 14 Pro Max 256 GB to a 16 Pro Max 512 GB mainly for battery, weight, AI, camera and editing like pause on video etc, and I'm used to upgrading each year, but I purchased my 14 Pro Max later than usual. Funny I just finished watching another one of your videos where my phone arrived halfway through it lol, and wanting to get a M4 MacBook this year, but they're pricey and I don't need all the power, but that iPad with its keyboard would actually work perfect too, especially with the touchscreen and apps I'm used to, but I'm usually not that lucky, who knows maybe this will be my lucky month. Either way Matt, thank you for the continued entertainment that I thoroughly enjoy, I enjoy your passion, it shines through the screen, you can't make that up, you clearly love what you do and that's what makes you sincere and genuine.
AI doesn’t even get the full features until iOS 18.4 aka March 2025 and at that point would be better to wait a few months for the iPhone 17 with a better matured iOS 19
The only reason why I’m not changing my iPhone 14 Pro Max is because of it’s stainless steel body. The heft, the weight itself is really impressive. I hold 15 pro max and it was so light. Same is the case with the latest 16 pro max. I may stick with my 14 pro max for maybe for another couple of years more.
Matt thanks for this video. I have already made my choice to upgrade from my 14 pro max to the 16 pro max, but you gave me a good confirmation of most of what I already suspected. I was however impressed by the performance numbers between the two. Just waiting for my pre order to ship. Can’t wait to get it.
A usb c port adds literally 0 use to my phone. I never offloaded anything from my phone using a wire, and the phone doesn't charge any faster. So no, it's not worth the upgrade to everyone

For me, essential reasons to upgrade to base 16PM from 14PM, if one can: USB-C and bigger (newer) battery; bonuses: "bigger" screen, more storage, and (yes, lastly) AI. These are definitely not insigificant reasons.
@@JimKanaris exactly why I upgraded, end it so much lighter it's crazy, the 14 Pro Max feels like a brick, and the hard edges cause I use mine faceless, just used to dig into my hands, and the battery is 1000 times better, I don't know what they were thinking in that 14 Promax battery, it was like a complete afterthought out of all the phones I upgrade every year lol and I exchanged several times for a new ones, same battery same problem, you'll love the new one, it lasts forever and charges ridiculously fast, and everything just scrolls smoother and fast faster it's weird, it's like it shouldn't but it does
I have both the 14 & 15 ProMax. The 15 sounds cleaner & crispier, but lacks in overall bass & volume. The 14 ProMax performs beautifully for music listening with Bluetooth speakers. Apple should’ve kept the sound signature from the 14 ProMax. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.
@@4thelement011 I can only compare to the 15 ProMax because these 2 phones are what I own. The 14 ProMax puts out the best sound & volume for Bluetooth music.
Matt I upgraded to a iPhone 16 pro max today have to wait to middle of October because it’s sold out everywhere. I’m also considering upgrading to AirPod Pro 2in the next few weeks thanks for the videos you are my favorite reviewer keep going!!!
I would say upgrade, in day to day performance isn’t noticeable but the real difference is in CPU intensive tasks and the difference is quite noticeable and justified my decision to upgrade and battery life is night and day, no contest. I think the 14 Pro Max will get at least another 4 years of software support but not up to 6 years because of Apple Intelligence.

Matt, I used to own the 14 pro max and so on.. I have the iPhone 15 Pro Max and have enjoyed it but.... Can't wait for the 16!! I have ordered the 16 Pro Max can't wait for it to arrive.. Thanks for keeping us charged.
I use to own a 14 Pro Max, but it got lost. I’m currently on a 13 and about to upgrade to the 16 Pro Max. With the 14, I remember it was a bit too heavy, but I miss so many things about it! To me, the screen and speakers are noticeably better and I didn’t thing Dynamic Island was a big deal when I had it. I missed it too! Last but not least, I miss the battery life and camera of a Max! Add in all the other goodies and I will be a happy camper. Y’all get way too caught up in looking for a feature that will change your life like the original iPhone did. Just enjoy what’s there now instead of what may come in the future!
In the US at least the carrier deals are a little insane. I upgraded 2 12 Pro Max models for my sons but was going to pass as I have a 14 Pro Max. While on the website though I found a deal that was too good to pass up so decided to grab it for the discount, USB C and the camera button.
Crazy. I just went and tried the 16 pro at the store and even though on paper it seems like a big enough upgrade from the 14 pro, in actual usage it seemed like the exact same phone
Very helpful. I am one of those people with an iPhone 14 thinking about upgrading to the 16 and I’m kind of skeptical. However, this video definitely was exactly what I was looking for and I’ve got a lot to think over now.
Am a high school graduate from Zambia and will be purchasing a Samsung s series phone this year. And will be going to university next year. Having the new M4 iPad Pro would be a dream and it would help me out a lot with my school work. Here in Africa iOS devices are very*3expensive. Hope I win😊
Used to upgrade every 2 years when every other phone was an “S” model. After XS, turned into 3 years when the 12 came out and we got 5G. Now it’s likely that unless there is some significant feature coming out it’s a 4 year upgrade cycle for me.
I own a 14PM and I have never liked the battery in it. That is the biggest reason that I pulled the trigger on a 16PM. If the battery is better as I suspect from many reviewers (Thanks, Matt, btw, your videos are concise with no filler...refreshing in 2024) ...I plan on keeping my 16PM for 2-3 years. Cheers!
I don’t think I will upgrade anytime soon because my father already bought a phone for me, but if ever I will get to choose then I will upgrade to the latest iPhone, not necessarily the Pro but the normal base model. The 16 already packs a lot of power and features.
I’m late but I’m definitely keeping my 14 pro max/black, they gotta come with some shit that’s gonna blow me down the street like a leaf off a tree before i upgrade again, I’m just gonna replace the battery which is at 84 percent since it was brand new and just hold it down
The only people that say pass are the same ones that simply can’t afford to get the 16. Lol. Big difference between the 14 and 16. Especially the pro. I just received the 16 pro max. Had the 14 pro max. Definitely worth it.
I pre-ordered the iPhone 16 Pro Max and my wait time is still a little over a month away. I pre-ordered on day one, but I didn’t get to get to it at launch. I assumed I would be a week out, but no. They really are putting me over a month out. The lines are long too when going to Apple. I’m looking forward to playing with the new camera button. I may be the only one with this. I’m looking forward to Apple Intelligence and the Action Button because I didn’t get the 15 Pro Max. So, a few little new upgrades for me. My screen protector and case already came. So, I’m ready to rock and roll whenever that may be. Thanks for this video. I’m going to watch it one more time to see what I may have missed.
This helps out, will be upgrading. My iPhone 14 Pro Max battery life isn’t holding up well anymore, have to charge it at least once to make it till the end of the day.
I have decided to upgrade from iPhone 14 Pro. I have some health issues and just need something larger. I can’t do much, but I can take photos. So looking forward to a better camera, especially for close up.

All I need to do now is to win your competition so I can upgrade my old (2016) 256Gb 9.7 inch iPad Pro which I've been using as a music device running Korg, Yamaha, Roland and Moog software synths for the last 12 years. I can only imagine what the iPad Pro you're giving away would be like and what additional possibilities it could enable.
I have a 12 Pro Max. Definitely seeing performance and batter drops a lot more. Going to upgrade the deals are pretty good right now with certain carriers

It is so much lighter and more responsive, and just everything about it you'll appreciate how smooth and fast it snaps pictures. It's too hard to describe, and it doesn't even have a eye yet, that's gonna just be the cherry on top
It's a PASS for me. My iPhone Pro Max 14 is in an "EXCELLENT CONDITION." I just upgraded/traded in my IPAD pro with bionic chip to an M4. Still have my airpod pro 2 and M1 Mac air. Just bought a renewed airpod max (lighting). The LEAK APPLE ROADMAP SEEMS 97% ACCURATE. I will upgrade my iPhone next year.

I recently made the switch from my iPhone 13 Pro to the iPhone 16 Pro. The main reason behind this upgrade was that I’m planning to trade in my old phone next year, and I figured I’d get more value for the iPhone 16 Pro. Another big draw for me was the camera upgrade from 12MP to 48MP, as well as the improved AI capabilities. And AI editing perfect my comment right now ;)
I think that iPhone 14 series and older users should definitely upgrade to iPhone 16 series if their budget allows as iPhone 16 series have major perks over them…
I have a cable that supports the high speed, but im not sure how much faster I find it compared to when I used it on my 15pm. I know they say the 16 supports the higher speed so there should be a difference. My charger gives around 30-33w but they say the 16 supports up to 45w. Someone says it's still the same speed as before but im not sure. EDIT: I just saw this comment on reddit: Tom's Guide review of the 16 Pro Max says that reports of 45w charging are not accurate and were just rumors. "Unfortunately, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max still offer the same lame charging speeds. You get just over 30% capacity in 30 minutes from a 30W charger. And do not believe the reports that the new iPhones support 45W charging. We tried it, and it made no difference."
I upgraded to the 16 pro max and absolutely love it. I also didn’t want to lose my upgrade value and wait another year or two. I got a really good deal and now get to upgrade every year if I want instead of every two years.
I'm not sure yet hopefully this video helps me make a decision but I've been looking and I'm not seeing enough this year and not to mention all the apple intelligence will not be actually fully running until close to the 17 anyway and the 17 is coming with a better zoom camera 14 pro Max still does everything the 16 does
I have a 16 Pro Max on order as I am upgrading from a 14 Pro Max. I wasn't wanting to upgrade, BUT my iPhone 14 Pro Max has a defective hardware issue that would cost $500 to repair.
WIth how expensive these devices are, i would love to upgrade every couple of years, but the truth is I can only afford to upgrade when the current one I have is unusable 😅. The 14 is still rocking, mine will just need a battery replacement in a couple of months and will keep being a beast
I actually did Upgrade from the 14 Pro Max at 256 GB to the 16 Pro Max with 1 Terabytes. I’m still waiting for it to arrive. It’s Supposed to arrive on October 2nd. I Can’t Wait for It to get here. Oh, and the weather here in Northern California USA is Cold where I’m at as well. So I feel you on the weather. Anyway… My New phone needs to hurry up and get here. 😆 but FedEx is kinda Slow.
