Thank you for the video, I managed to replace the cable and parts. My proximity sensor is the only thing not working. I will take the phone apart again as I suspect that I have not secured it in place properly. Two notes that slightly differ from video. 1, There is a small sticker under the camera assembly which covers a screw. This needs peeling back but was simple. 2, Removing the bracket securing the proximity sensor is tricky because it is glued on as well. I had to use a blade to help it come off. It looks much easier on the video but I suspect the phone there was taken apart many times. Need very pointy tweezers. Thanks again for the tutorial.
Hi guys behind CRAZYPHONES. my 4s was giving trouble with volume button, power button and home button.. i saw all your vids and decided to do it myself. and i must say what an amazing feeling it is when it all works out. you guys have made by far the best vids available on this subject. hats off to you!! I love you guys and thanks ton for the vid!! keep sharing the knowledge. P.S. you guys are the masters.. the way you disassemble and assemble the phone layer by layer is such a thrill to watch. thanks again. now I'm secretly wishing that some other iPhone in the family needs repair! haha!
EXCELENTE tutorial. MUCHAS GRACIAS! Thank you so much!
Thank you CRAZYPHONEStv, this was a perfect do it your self tutorial. I went to a phone repair shop and they quoted me £20 to fix the power button! I went online brought the replacement for £1.99 from eBay and done it my self...
Thanks for this great video, I followed your steps and when I finally changed the defective part, I thought I would never be able to put the phone together again, but thanks to the great video you made I was able to reassemble my iPhone and it’s working perfectly!
reqired tools: magnifying glasses, finest screwdrivers and finest tweezers you have in your toolset, lot of light and pair of steady hands ..thank you Crazyphones, best video I find to guide me

thanks for the great instructions! I managed to replace the powerbutton. When I wanted to start the iphone it could not find the sim-card. I did a total recovery with Itunes and installed my latest backup, after that is was fine and still is!
That's because the date and time was reset when you removed the battery. You just need to setup the date and time and then switch on/off Airplane mode and it will find your SIM. Restore is good as well but it takes to long :) anyway, good job!
CRAZYPHONEStv haha okay, well I just did not think of that! Anyway, it is better than it was, I had touchscreen problems before, now they're gone! I suppose because of all the dust I removed and maybe I attached the screen cable better than before!
CRAZYPHONEStv Hi again you crazyphones! After having used my iphone without any problem for a month, the problem with the touchscreen popped up again. It just doesn't respond. But only now and than, not constantly. Do you have any idea what might cause that? I opened it again, made sure everything is well attached, but that did not help. Also recovered it with a backup from some weeks ago, when it was still fine. Nothing. In your video you mention a little black clip that must not be lost when taking off the powercable. That clip was not in my phone to begin with... Also the plastic that is under the battery and over the motherboard (or whatever) is broken. Could that maybe cause this? I guess this phone was already "repaired" by the previous owner, hence the loss of the little black clip. What is it for anyway? Hope you can help!
Thanks so much for your response, I resolved the issue by reinserting my old flex cable, and affixing the missing gold nub from my replacement over top of it. It seems I bought the wrong cable; I've since learned that you have to match the serial number on your current cable (located beneath the power button mounting bracket) with any replacements.

Hey mate, thanks very much for your help, I´ve just repaired mine and it clicks like a new one :) I just took off the "golden" sticker with the black dot on it from a replacement button (couldn´t find original apple replacement parts in germany ) and replaced the broken one with it. Until know it works as I said perfectly! thanks VERY much for this awesome tutorial :)
Thank you very much for such detailed video. I just fixed mine by following every step you used. P.S. I'm a 21 year old girl so yes ladies, if your handy you can definitely get it done. after I finished and pressed to turn it back on it didnt wanted to so I plugged to my computer and worked like a charm.
Thank you so much for such a good video. Best of all I've seen around. I've just fixed my phone by myself. Is such a great idea to keep all screws at view during all video, easier for us specially when we have to assemble all togheter again.
Thanks Sean, I'm sorry to hear that, unfortunately could be multiple reasons for that and it will be hard for me to give you an exact diagnosis. It could be a faulty cable which keep your iphone in on and off cycle - it's happened to me once, a battery problem or in the worst case scenario could be a problem with the logic board.
Thanks for this wonderful movie, I almost got it off my head, but I didn't dare. I repaired a pocket calculator in 1980, they had such primitive buttons. It's such an expensive phone to install! Very Chinese!
Dear Mr - I have this problem and I'm trying to get rid of free riders who are only interested in exploring my money. I am in Brazil and I saw some videos as well done as this. Its sensitivity and refined touch to this art is something to be appreciated. Congratulations. Best Regards
Phone fired up without issues and all working perfectly again.... Excellent video... Thanks very much indeed... save me a fortune in a Apple repair costs.. Respect!!!!
thanks a lot, it worked perfect for me.!! at the end of the assembly I strugled a little since the iphone wont turn on , then i just plug it to charger and everything was perfect!.
Hi James , it sounds like a damaged lcd connector , if you use the silent button (mute button at the side ) do you then feel vibration ? ) if the phone vibrates its functioning but not able to light up the lcd . Its very seldom but that it works but i tried once that a simple hard reset made a 4s function well again (hard reset : keep power button and home button pressed at the same time ) Also you could try to disconnect the two connectors for the lcd and the digitizer and mount them again , just to make sure that they where situated well . If nothing of this works then its sure the lcd cable that is overbend , many off the repairs shown here on youtube are made in a risci way its very lightly to overbend the cables if the front glass is not removed before this cable change . If you have a new front glass assembly or an old one its simple just to mount it on the connectors on the mother board and test if its the cables that are broken . If you buy a new assembly for the front , rember to buy a gasket for the proximity sensor or if you are lucky to move the old gasket on to the new assembly. The gasket is placed on the backside of the front glass on the top of it , where the two "windows " for the proximity sensor is situated , many repair guides dosent mention this gasket and the proximity sensor wont work without it . Sorry i could not help you more than this , but its likely that the cables are damaged . Motherboard damage issues are very seldom by this repair .
Bo - Wanted to give you an update on your long-distance diagnosis. It was spot-on! I received the replacement LCD, made the installation in a few hours and it works like a brand new phone. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and for helping me get my phone back to normal. Your assessment of over-bending the cable was the apparent cause of my problems.
Muito foda, não manjo nada de manutenção em celulares, muito menos em iPhones, mas consegui corrigir o meu botão com apenas R$ 5,00 + seu Video + muita coragem.. hehehe Thank You!!!
worked perfect thanks!!! those complain must of got a DOA (dead on arrival) part or must of damaged new power button and proximity sensor when installing.
you sir have earned a subscriber, the best informative video and the step by step was brilliant, helped me fix my lock button in 30 minutes (only part i hadn't previously fixed)
Hey jimmy, try to release the screws of the power button and see how it goes, other ways could be a faulty cable (without the small black dot in the middle) or on the new power button the small metal disc is missing.
Once my old Samsung S3 mini got a part malfunctioning while I was at an army outpost. I managed to open and fix it with nothing more than a swiss army knife and no prior knowledge. my girlfriend's iPhone has the same problem, and now I need to watch loads of tutorials in order to fix it... thank you apple. thank you for making your products inaccessible and over-complicated.
Dear CrazyPhones, thanks for the instruction film, briljant! I have a question after replacing my power and sensor cable the home button is not working and it doesn't charge anymore. Do you know what I forgot/did wrong? Hope you have a solution for this problem. Many thanks
Great video, I successfully replaced the powerbutton and flex cable. However, when I powered on the phone, it just looped on the start-up apple logo and won't restore. Needless to say I'm desperate for any help, please and thank you.
Hey you did a really good job! I fixed the power button issue but now I have a bigger problem: The screen is staying black. The power button works and the iPhone tursn on but I can't see anyhingthing. You might know the problem
Sorry for the late response, try to connect your iPhone to your computer and if it's seen by iTunes but you have no image on the screen that means you damage the LCD connector cable during the process (common problem with this repair) other ways my be a problem with your battery or with your logic board.
wow. great video! i have one question thou if it's not too much, i'd love if you could help me out. i bought the replacement (on/off button with the flex), change it just like you did, but my button still doesn't work. I have 2 options, either the button is not good or that I'm missing something. It doesn't even click. is it possible that there's something else bothering me?
Could it be that 1.5 mm diameter, thin, slighly convex, metal (or plastic?) disk that may act as a spring? It looks like a small silvery confetti. It seemed to fall out when I took the flex-cable assembly out weeks ago.
thanks for the vid, maybe you can help me i replaced the power button and proximity flex cable , i turned my phone on and the apple logo came up then it shut off now it wont start up again.. any suggestions
Hi Crazyphones: Thank you for great video, the best one for this problem! However, I have one last question: After replacing flex cable successfully, I can turn on and off the phone, and I still receive phone call, heard what seri said, but my screen turned white even though I did hard reset, restored, but failed to solve the problem. Any idea? PS: pentalobe screws worn out too!!! Any help for this problem also? Thanks
Hi Hung, unfortunately I think you've broke the lcd connector cable, first check if the lcd cable it's properly connected otherwise you might have to replace the screen.
overbending the digitizer cable . sure the front glass assembly needs to be removed , very risci to overbend the cables for the screen like he does in this video .
Hi there, cheers for sharing the video! however i got one problem everything works fine after power button/proximity sensor replacement besides the ear speaker. When unplugging i thought theres some cable left and I got rid of this black tape thats on the left of the speaker is it something important ? Could i just put it other way around thats why it wont work ? Help!
Hi, the black tape it's not so important, try to place the ear speaker the other way around and make sure it's properly centered to ensure a good contact with the logic board .
i was just wondering, I´ve ordered just the yellow/golden thing with the black dot on it; can you just remove this part from the cable and put a new one on it? thanks
