I have the 8 plus in gold and I upgraded from a 6s (not plus). In my opinion it was definitely worth it. The battery is a lot better and the pictures come out so much better. It’s almost like a professional camera! Definitely recommend updating if you have a 6s or older but in my opinion it’s not worth it if you have a 7 plus already

Incredible video Tyler. Great cinematography and extremely informative. I like how you're comparing it to the 6s instead of to the 7 as most reviewers do - most people will be upgrading from a 6s and if you have a 7 upgrading to the 8 is pretty much useless anyway.

Tyler, quick tip. There is another reason Apple has removed the HDR original and just uses the HDR version by default. With the new HEIF photo format, the original is now actually stored within the HDR photo itself. If you don't like how the HDR version looks, just edit the photo to remove the HDR effect. This is now true of portraits as well, which similarly removed the original version. This saves a lot of space and is much less confusing for newbie shooters who never clearly understood why they had multiple versions of the same photos.

I highly doubt Apple will ever adopt USB C on the iPhone. I think by the time lightening becomes obsolete ( in 2-4 years IMO), they'll just move to a totally portless design.

believe it or not, im still rocking an iPhone 4s i got it used at the end of 2015 im from portugal, but live in a somewhat modern village where iPhones are mostly out of anyone's reach because they're too expensive, and the people who have them are usually paying them on a contract i find it so amazing how the 4s still holds up after almost 7 years sure its slow sometimes, and some apps are completely unavailable, but it blows my mind how i can still use instagram, twitter, youtube, and even the camera (a friend of mine has the galaxy a3 and when we compared cameras, we were amazed how similar the photos were) on the other hand, the galaxy grand prime (a similar phone to the 4s, but with far higher geek bench scores) i had before i got the iPhone is completely unusable... recently i had to change back to it because the iphone was being repaired and it was so goddamn frustrating... apps kept crashing, it refused to send an email, it froze on stock applications (i remember sometimes getting message boxes telling me the home screen crashed)... although the screen size was very nice, the rest of the phone did not age as well as the iPhone, even thought its practically a better phone its crazy to think how i could theoretically use the 4s at least 2 more years or until every app completely stoped supporting iOS 9, and how quickly an android phone became obsolete this is what makes me never change back to android this year im buying the iPhone 8, and i can rest easy that i won't be disappointed for a very long time even though it made phones much more accessible to people, android is indeed the worst broken and unstable shit somebody could invent, even considering iOS' flaws 😂😂

Such a good review. I agree 99%. Personally don’t mind the lack of a headphone jack (I am an iPhone 7 Plus owner), but I also don’t understand why Lightning still exists. Actually, USB-C would have made me upgrade. I guess I will try to get at least one more year out of my 7 Plus.

I got my refurbished iPhone 5S in February of 2016 and it's been caseless ever since.

Coming from someone who both loves photography and watches way too many tech channels/blogs, this is the first video that has actually made me want to upgrade this year and made me reconsider the X altogether and belayed my itch to jump ship to Android (google Pixel XL) for at least another year or two. I put off moving away from my iPhone every year as I always get reminded why I want to stay, but this year, I was struggling, but suddenly this video made me think, actually the 8 Plus looks like a damn good phone. Thanks for this, it's helped, you've got yourself a new Sub my friend. Also, you've made me for excited for my move to Canada next year. :)

Finally a real photographer reviewing a phone or two from a creative side. Not just specs, and hardware. Love it! Keep it up. Maybe take us through the whole process! Like, how you chose your location and time. How you compose and shoot. And finally, how you tweak and edit! Obviously with the phones. I precisely come from an iPhone 6S, and the jump to the iPhone 8 Plus is just incredible. I’m quite impressed with the new speakers, and how the screen can represent better colours. It’s a substantial upgrade, and I hope I can quickly start taking advantage of everything it offers.
