iPhone SE (2016) vs iPhone 12 Mini: Worth the upgrade?? 

I agree, I would happily keep using the SE for another year or so, albeit with a battery replacement perhaps

Still using my SE changed the battery out and added a battery case now last’s 3 days instead of 3 hours The battery stretch things snapped 19 times before i managed to get the battery out with i more or less folded in half while trying to get it out and the battery was at 64% when i took it out so fairly safe but do it outside I refuse to downgrade to a phone with no headphone jack and no touch ID stupid decision on apple’s part and most of the phones missing it have the space to mod on into it anyway so its absolutely nothing to do with space its apple lying In this world of mask’s apple better pull their thumb out and at leave give us back the ability to use touch ID instead or as well as I borrowed an iPhone 11 for a month absolutely hated it the only way to make it usable was with the fake home button so another thing the iPhone 13 needs is at least a simulated one And dont even get me started on things like not finding a way to remove the tiny bits of screen either side of the display and the whole swiping for the notifications and controls menu’s took me 3 days just to do it once because muscle memory of just swipe up or swipe down and absolutely nothing else needed I could go on for hours Minimum we need touch ID back And then additionals are as follows Headphone jack contacts on the back of the phone so we can add a headphone jack to phone cases and not need adapters Simulated home button as in physically click the screen as if it was a button Ability to simply not use the screen around the notch so its invisible in the way it is in the SE (2016) When shit is removed we need the ability to add it back (example headphone jack case without the need for it plugging into the charger port) When shit is added we need the ability to remove it (example disable screen around notch)

I still would be if it weren’t for my clumsy boyfriend dropping mines in the Pacific Ocean 😒 but I’m so glad they’re bringing an update to this style because I absolutely loved the OG SE🥰😍😎

I haven’t seen the mini yet in person but I too have the og se and looking for its predecessor. I love the se and it runs great. I purchased a new battery Ill be installing once mine starts to fall off. The only thing I like about the new mini over my og se is the ultra wide camera. Oh and I maybe the slightly bigger keyboard...but not compelling enough to upgrade prematurely.

Yes, SE 2015 looks better than 12/13 mini, that awkward sticking out camera ruins the look of 12/13.

How's your battery life? I'm on my second original SE because I love it, but my battery health says 74% max capacity and it's been draining very quickly as of the last couple weeks.

@@djsweatpants Same here actually... Mine says 100% battery capacity, but it seems to be draining quickly. I’m on iOS 13.4 too. It’s a bit of a mystery. Almost suspiciously so.

I got a 20€ battery from the farst east and now I have SE 1st for another 5 years :). I do hope they keep upgrading this format as I might get the Iphone 15 mini when the time comes.

It's pretty good for basic tasks like calls, text etc but safari has become impossible to use. Websites nowadays are far too resource heavy for the OG iPhone

The iPhone SE was my first iPhone as well. Unless you count the iPod touch I used with a calling app for years :) I didn't have mobile service for almost a decade, just Pinger.

The 12 and 13 mini are both smaller than the 2020/22 SE and larger than the 2016 SE. Best size of both worlds if you ask me

@@CameronKinvig You may be right on that. I will consider purchasing the iPhone 13 mini in the future. I think a huge win is the storage upgrade on the newer phones.

@@buttonsf3293 yeah really like it. Similar enough to the original SE form factor. In fact it fits in the same armband I had for the SE. Lots faster obviously, much better camera and Face ID is good.

@@GrahamStw I was going to go with black as the one ot trade in but really wanted to see what the blue and green were like. After seeing 2 videos (black and blue) where they commented on the fingerprints, I'm already leaning toward the lighter green color. I guess it doesn't matter, as it'll be in a case, but sometimes I use mine without a case if I'll be handling it a lot (too much bulk: hand cramps)

Yeah I did spend a while considering the second SE, but I decided there wasn’t really enough for me to upgrade to it really.

All iPhone 12 version comes with OLED display which won't consume phone battery so any 12 is gud choice

Having the same resolution doesn’t mean the quality of photos are the same, the 12 mini is much much better

All really depends on whether you want a bigger phone or not, the feature set is the same between both models. The mini will have poorer battery but unless your a real power user it is still very good (especially coming from an SE), I still get about 8-10 hours screen on time from a full charge

I think if you'd wanna go for the iPhone 12, just spend the extra money on the 12 Pro since it's the same size

What are you thinking on getting between the new SE and the mini?

I was thinking about it however I am no longer in possession of the SE. The SE already has a degraded battery health of 87% so I'm not sure if they are comparable

Yeah that’s Haptic Touch. Problem was that even when you did that it wouldn’t register your thumb press, it’s been patched now with a software update.

At this point your better off waiting for the 13 mini to come out, it’s only 3 months away and will likely be the last “mini” version of the iPhone to release. Either that or wait to get a 12 mini on discount

@Damian W A lot more than 4 hours, I’ve averaged about 6-7 hours screen on time

@Damian W That depends on your usage if you ask me. I've been using it for about a week and the battery is more than enough for me (as someone who upgraded from a 7). I use it everyday for commonplace apps like gram, RU-vid, checking emails, music for about 1-2 hours et al. No gaming though, battery life from 100% overnight charge lasts an entire day.

@Damian W But if you're upgrading from an original SE you're going to love it. The camera, the battery life, and the size just makes it completely worth the price.

@@cursedfox4942 oh right I know what you mean. The resolution is technically filmed at 4K while the actual image detail is probably less simply to due to sensor limitations

@@CameronKinvig I mean the diagonal total body measurement including the bezels vs. just the screen. The 12 mini is .4” larger in terms of diagonal total size and just under .4” smaller than the 8/SE 2.

Or you could simply buy a headphone jack to lightning adapter for a lot less
