"No wireless charging obviously" - Actually some models of the LG G3 (the D855 at least) do have wireless charging.

1. No it wasn't a LineageOS "thing" 2. Yes rear-facing speaker just suck. 3. Final load time wasn't even close. Gave nod to the Android when the first page was 0.001 second faster, but when iPhone loaded and was ready while the LG was not even half way. 4. iPhone has been known as the best camera on any smartphone with only the pixel and note 9 edging it for a short while. It's not LineageOS. Listen, I'm not an Apple fan. Matter of fact they piss me off (4 Samsung Notes later, Essential and Razer phone 2) but you only make yourself less credible when you obviously try to persuade your agenda with horseshit.

I started with the Samsung S1, then went iPhone 4S, then Samsung S6 and now just switched to the iPhone 11. I’m not biased to either, I just choose whichever takes my fancy at the time and suites my needs best. So many good options these days!

So... you had to go through all that effort to install a custom unofficial ROM? Doesn't really seem fair. That's like installing jailbreak tweaks to add features to an iPhone. Edit (7/17/21): basically, what I'm saying is that he equates installing a custom ROM, rooting a phone, and potentially bricking a phone (something that many people aren't comfortable with), to full official iOS support, straight from apple. That's like giving someone a drug to help compete better with an S-tier athlete. Then, he reaps the benefits of a custom ROM, like how it's a new version of android, while dismissing the flaws of lineage as well (like the camera). It's like saying the athlete on drugs won without mentioning that the athlete died in his 30s. One complaint they had was a lack of dark mode. Android 6 didn't have dark mode, just like how the iPhone 6 on Android 12 didn't either. They _could have_ jailbroken the iPhone to get dark mode, but that would be in favor of the iPhone, and the biased blonde guy wouldn't want that. So if you're going to leave one phone completely unmodified, then you better not modify the other one, or "give it steroids" and then call it "fair."

G4 would be a cooler option. I had mine for almost 2 years and I absolutely loved it. It was an early model but never bootlooped

For a lot of devices there are modded Google Camera options available (XDA Forum) which improves the camera quality drasticly. Works perfectly on my Oneplus 3.

The 6S was a MASSIVE improvement over the 6, the 6 is a lagfest in comparison. The 6s was the first silicon that performed well on the larger screens

The fact that you need to do so much stuff to get android up and running just makes iphones from 5 years ago the far far superior option.

Also the g3 has an integrated equalizer with lineage os and makes sound crazy good on a wired audio device

LineageOS is great and all, but it would be really nice if you could consider some other options to go along with it. Like Resurrection Remix or Pixel Experience. Also, just based on my personal experience (so don't quote me on that), I have never needed to root a phone to install custom TWRP recovery and a custom ROM on it. All that was needed was an unlocked bootloader. Also, I have always installed the custom TWRP recovery through ADB (Android Debug Bridge) and Fastboot. Additionally, does the battery wear down that much anyway? If the wear level is 25-30% after 5 years, that's not too bad I reckon. Edit: added some more info.

I’m one of those weirdos who swaps between android and ios every couple of years. I have an 11 Pro currently but I used to have a G3 and wow that was a great phone.

I love android. Much more than i love iOs, however, it's lame and sad seeing you guys taking every jab at the iPhone. Like come on, the G3 has a brand new battery as well... what i'm trying to say is: be completely objective! Android kicks ass but don't tell me that it's an utterly fair test to mod the shit out of that g3, give it a new battery and defend it's camera capabilities because lineage is coded for so many devices... i'm subbed so just grow up!

My Note 2 running Jellybean is still running now since 2013. All apps works full tilt. The phone is on the second OEM battery.

My old G3 was a fantastic phone... till it boot-looped.

I remember I bricked my LG G2 like 2 days after it was released trying to put a ROM(I believe Cyanogen Mod) onto it before it was released on XDA. And when that phone was rooted it said so on the boot screen, the thing it was stuck on, so the my warrenty/insurance wasn't gonna cover it and since it was 2 days old it was WAY before custom tools had become available for it. What I ended up doing to fix it, and I STILL to this day can't believe I got this to work, was somehow finding some sort of LG employee testing application of some sort on some Korean website. I guess it was meant for their software engineers or testers to eaisly update the software to newer test versions or something(not sure really cause it was mostly in Korean). But I found the base OS code somewhere online, maybe with the app or maybe somewhere else(that was like 6-7 years ago now) and out it into the application I had and then I found the G apps for the G2 somewhere else and finally the Sprint G2 software and apps on XDA(thank GOD somebody had already dumped it there by day 2 lol) and instereted it into the file I put into the app after removing whatever Korean stuff that was there and after messing with some settings and somehow getting admin permission force flashed it(it kept giving errors but I somehow got it to work) back to working order. Then because Sprint had sent out an over the air update of some sort on day 1 it was close enough to recognize it and update it to exactally like new with offical software and everything. I was so relieved cause I paid a lot for it and had it 2 days lol. I never again tried to root and rom an android phone that early again, esp when there was no full stable version available for it yet, and just waited for the genius' over at XDA to do it for me lol. I think I was trying to use an overseas version of a custom ROM, or maybe a different LG phone altogether and just plug in the stuff that was different from a G2 dump, but it went horribly wrong lol. I had rooted and romed so many phones at that point(early Andriod phones baiscally REQUIRED a custom rom to run anywhere close to useable and I started with the 1st Sprint Andriod phone the HTC Hero) that I felt I could do no wrong and since there was no recovery tool yet available to get you out of those situations I went into it thinking I would be ok cause I hadn't bricked a phone yet and had never used a recov outside of just wanting the stock phone back or when I sold them. So yea never try and rom a phone without a tested working version out yet and DEFF don't do it without doing a full backup of it 1st cause I got EXTREMLY lucky and got myself out of it when I probably shouldn't have lol. Flagship Andriod phones nowadays are already so good and feature filled that you don't really need to ROM them anyway, or even root really, and they cost 2 times what they used to, LG G2-$600, Note 10+-$1200, so it's also almost to costly to risk for ppl not that experienced with it. Now if you find a G3 for example for $50, go right ahead, it's cheap and it's been out so long there are many tools available that have been optimized, but a new flagship I wouldn't recommend anymore.

Still have my LG G3 lying around the house for streaming music and as a back up remote for my tv when I am too lazy to look in between the couches for the regular remote. It’s a keeper.

You can downgrade iOS u just need a Mac or pc running the lates version of iTunes

I still carry around a Nexus 5 with a custom minimal AOSP build. Replaced the battery twice. Love it. It can still compete with medium-end phones today. Not to mention the pleasure of customization.

Fun fact the LG G3 was hindered in software updates by it's SD 801 chipset. The 801 was not supported by Vulkan part of android 7.0 and above. I had the same with my OnePlus X.

Oneplus devices seem to have a lot of support from developers. I checked LineageOS and they have Android 9 for the OnePlus One.

I bought the 11 Pro last year, partly in leu of a DSLR and all its goodies. I still use my 2014 6, and 2016 SE, and the differences is not nearly as noticeable as they should be after five and (over)six years, respectively. Meanwhile, my Galaxy S5 shit out on me after MAYBE 6 months of ownership, and I haven’t looked back since. They’re still releasing updates for my iPhone 6, here in 2021. That’s wild.

You can get a G3 cheap because the G3, G4, and V10 had a ton of issues with the SoC overheating and bootlooping. I work in cellphone repair and you wouldn’t believe how often I see this issue and there is no fix just a temporary way to get it on long enough to pull data and that doesn’t always work.

LTT should revisit this and make an updated video to see how things have changed in the past 4-5 years. Would be interesting.

I have an iPhone 6. Today (April 2021) it has a notification saying that there is a new security update. I didn't have to root anything, read any forum, try to find out my model number and look for the matching lineage version or worry about whether all functions are going to work or not so on and on and on.

You can live without feature updates, but security patches are critical.

I had (and still have) the LG G2 back in the day when it first came out, it was such a solid phone at the time. I believe the display was also 1440p. That was such an awesome phone, and along with all of LG's software options, there was so much to customize even back then.

Still using a galaxy S5. No issues. Got a new battery though. Now it stays charged for days.

I've had my 2nd generation iPad for 7 years and it still works great, even though it is slow at times.

I can absolutely confirm that different roms affect display brightness as well as some other things like camera performance etc. And as for CyanogenMod or now Lineage OS I always had a dimmer display , especially on LCDs

Had a G3 from Verizon when it launched, worked great in Canada and was definitely one of my favorite phones.
