iPhone XS and XS Max review

WHY APPLE WINS AND REVIEWERS LOSE: iPhone XS & XS Max AREN'T for people who *already* use an 'iPhone X'. They are, as is the case with every new iPhone, aimed at people coming from OLDER iPhones (such as 7, 6s or even 5s/5). The idea that Apple makes iPhones ONLY for those who bought *last year's* iPhone is INSANE. You don't buy an iPhone *every year* (!) unless you are a famous RU-vidr or are filthy rich. MOST people that buy one use their iPhone for AT LEAST 2-3 years (some for '5' years, even) before upgrading. Unlike Android flagships, iPhones are traditionally extremely future-proof: the '5S', which released all the way back in *2013*, is STILL getting software updates & running smooth as butter in '2018'. So.. The industry-first '7 nm processor', the '8-core ML neural engine', the crazy-powerful GPU & ALL the other super hardware upgrades that might seem 'overkill' *today* are actually there, IRONICALLY enough, so 'people WON'T need to buy a new iPhone for the next few years'.. Reviewers always fail to take all that into account & end up judging the latest iPhone *purely* in relation to how it stacks up against its immediate predecessor: So they simply quote the '15%' jump in this and '30%' boost in that. They don't see the '300%' jump that someone coming from a 5S or 6 would experience. Shallow AH. While long-time customers, aka the MAJORITY of iPhone buyers, understand Apple's long-term approach & ignore these reviews. Which is *precisely* why iPhone sales are NEVER affected by reviews, however negative or even positive they might be. Cuz for the most part, they're 'unrelatable'.

Tim doesn't know currency conversion properly. Buying an iPhone anywhere other than the US is ridiculously expensive.

Nilay is a great reviewer and delivered one of the least biased mainstream iPhone reviews I’ve ever seen. 👍🏼 I like that he gives credit where it’s due and doesn’t bash Android or Apple unnecessarily. The Memoji host and fish tank water resistance demonstration were pretty damn creative too, so props to the technical team for the slick edits!

We've reached 'peak' Apple.... nothing satisfies now. I'm still on the iPhone 6 Plus and will be until Apple comes out with something impressive enough to justify the price. This hasn't been th case for me for the last 4 years.

Basically, 80% of people buy a new and a very expensive phone for a little more screen and little better camera while all they do it's browsing the net and using whatsapp. Amazing.

They've completely lost their minds with the price this time too. . . . . . But people will buy it nevertheless.

The 8 plus will probably be the last iPhone I own for a while. I don’t understand why they couldn’t offer a phone with a fingerprint scanner. Samsung will probably offer 5 variable biometric parameters.

After watching SEVERAL reviews and side by side comparisons I just don’t see how someone could think the pixel 2 has a better camera than the iPhone XS. Speaking objectively BESIDES night shot the pixel 3 doesn’t even have a better camera than the iPhone 🤷🏾‍♂️

I actually prefer the XS photos to the Pixel. I think this is another thing that comes down to personal preference.

I love how we’ve gotten to a point where we can complain about the tiniest inconvenience. “I have to swipe twice for one thing?!” Like dude, when we were kids we had to wait half an hour for a picture to show up on our desktops.

I moved from iOS (iPhone 6s Plus) to Android (Pixel 2 XL) early this year. At first, I loved the Android experience! It was great. Then the phone started to do something I'd never had an iPhone do before a major OS version update: It slowed way down. It started just bogging down - delayed reactions to touch, long lag times when opening apps, even heating up and lagging when hitting the shutter button in the camera. The Android Pie update fixed many gripes I had, but I've got to say, I'm glad my job qualifies me for education and corporate pricing on new phones. iPhone 10 Xs, here I come!

I’m seeing “the iPhone aggressively smoothed images” then you show where the pics where the iphone out does the pixel 2 xl dramatically. There’s “in my opinion” and there’s clear Bias. The iPhone clearly has the better pics. Stop having this guy review phones if he doesn’t know what he’s talking about nor can back up what he’s talking about.
