That’s very interesting. The story of theft is starting to look more and more likely as they dig into Ippei’s shady past. 🤔 Either way, don’t think anything happens to either of them. If it was theft, don’t think Ohtani would be to type to press charges against his former best friend.

I think Ohtani is innocent too, but Ohtani lawyers did say that they are getting authorities involved so it sounds like Ippei will get charged. He’s going to jail most likely.

@@romanc.5074 if Ippei is getting charged he’s most likely innocent and this is coming from Ohtani’s lawyers. No lawyer would want charges pressed on someone by their client unless it’s real.

It is true that he has definitely gotten a lot better, but remember that its pretty much basic conversational English, its a whole different thing when it comes financial and legal terminology which likely isn't a strong part of his vocabulary yet!

Someone is lying. The original story was the best. An interpreter went on a gambling binge and Ohtani bailed him out as any friend would do to the tune of $4.5 million. There are no Ohtani fingerprints at the scene and, in fact, no crime scene at all.

Unfortunately though, even if this were the case and they did stick to that, Ohtani might still face repercussions because sports betting is illegal in California and the bookmaker was an illegal operation - if this is true, whether he knew it was illegal or not, he could still face some kind of trouble BUT I do agree with you, it looks so much more suspicious backing out on their first claim and then changing the story, could definitely save a ton of hassle
