As always, I loved the communication and interaction. The F-14 has legs and it has better missiles. I thought the Iraqi team did as well as could be expected. Thank you; enjoyed.
I vaguely remember a documentary about irans tomcats and them not being able to get parts due to an embargo, so they set up a really elaborate smuggling ring in the US to get parts out piece meal. I could be massively wrong and if i am hopefully someone will be along to put the facts but its a cool story.
The smuggling ring *could* be true. I remember scuttlebutt about US service members being arrested for selling F-14 parts. I didn't investigate the veracity of the rumor since, at the time, all I cared about was liberty.
You're correct, Iran did smuggle F14 parts for a while, it's the reason the remaining F14's that were mothballed were destroyed, to prevent it from happening again. The Iranians love the F14 so much, that even after they were no longer able to get parts for the aircraft, they started designing and building their own in country. Reportedly they've recently started a modernization program using indigenous hardware, despite the fact that they now have much more modern aircraft.
Have any of the GR group heard of you tuber Ward Carrol? After watching this video it made me think of him, and he could be an awesome "aggressor" pilot going against the GR group, or however it could happen. He was a RIO in a F-14, and plays DCS. His channel is not centered around him playing DCS, but he does it from time to time. Just a thought. Love the videos GR makes, always entertaining.
@@grimreapers I thought you did okay. The only advantage I can see that you would have over an F-14a is turn radius. Soviet missiles of that era WERE NOT YOUR FRIEND!
