Caelan Doris is the Captain. Are we seeing the final moments of Peter O'Mahony's amazig career for Ireland. Just one of the talking points after Andy Farrell's selection for the 2nd Test against South Africa in Durban.
I think you guys are safe as far as world rankings go. Ireland would need to win by more than 15 and the most optimistic Ireland fan would struggle to believe that possible.
Beirne at six👏could be a masterstroke, the experience of Omahoney coming off the bench most likely an angry peter coming off the bench could also bring the extra omf hes been missing
As a Springbok fan, my first impression is that this team is definitely strong enough to get a result in Durban. Keen to see how Doris will cope with the added responsibility of the armband, but overall one or two of the changes may actually help Ireland in my view, Ringrose looked dangerous coming off the bench. Boks will have to perform on the day to wrap up the series
With the surprise element gone regarding the Springbok exciting new dimension to their attack spreading it wide I can see possibilities of Ireland picking off one or two of those passes.
@@gerardkelsh1011I reckon we play our most conservative game ever. All box kicks, set pieces, crash balls. Less than 80 passes. It’s contrast and unpredictability which win us a third WC on the trot
I'm not surprised mybe they can goes on to the win nothing are impossible I also think Ireland can take the one! Bokke is not on win every time thy strengthen they power to 2027
Peter is beyond loved in the whole of Ireland seriously, but I think sadly it is time, but I hope he gets to play his last test at home, so perhaps after November, we need to give him the respect he deserves. Sad to see Aki out as well
@@martingavin3147 So you think he should continue on being anonymous in games because you like him? This is elite sport, nothing to do with liking or not liking POM, he's playing badly because he's old.
@@bigg5582agree im nervous for us as Beirne is very good in his open play game, SA cant compare to the Irish with their skilled losies. I mean thats what the irish are based around, that forward only try in the last few minutes proved this.
Yup, which is why an unchanged line-up makes little sense to me. I know the logic - this is the second half and we've got to improve - but Ireland will be treating it as a different game and will use different combinations to crack our defence. That and some tired legs at the front, in midfield and on the flanks makes it inevitable that we'll concede.
Not really. South Africa were the dominant team for the majority of the game in the parts that matter - collisions, gain line, bench strength, defenc. Ireland were hanging in there. A late try and an off day for Pollard kicking made the scoreline look closer than it actually was. South Africa are going to be better next game as they're still embedding a new way of playing.
Tim....I remember ur combined team when Ireland played England in the 6 Nations....almost no English on it and u guys still beat us!...so I'm hoping the lack of Irish players on this combined team will work in our favour!. A brilliant set of reports from SA over the last weeks..THANK U.
Can’t really see us winning today but hope we put on a decent show despite our injuries/absences. Hope you guys enjoy our proud Irish rugby team making the trip anyway.
As an Irish fan, we've got to go out at 100% from the start and maintain that pace for the entire 80. We were slow to get going last week which put us behind from the third minute. Absolutely that team can win. Especially now that we're at sea level and there's oxygen
If the game was reffed by the laws it would have been a draw, I do think SA was the narrowly better team so SA winning is a fair scoreline but going of lad what happened it should have been a draw.
Tim, beating SA isn’t the problem, it’s the ref and TMO were the problem last week, white house was poxy and Luke was spineless, having said that I do like the look of the team and yes we will beat SA this Saturday 😉 Cmon Ireland 🇮🇪🇮🇪
The Irish has always played à hard game and always the full 80min. They are now true competitor's on the top with us in South Africa. Great players and said respectfully. We will have a great game!!🤝💚🏉
@HenryBaggins-rz7mq If Springboks coaches listened to JK and Matt during world cup we would not have got through our pool stage. JK has changed his tune recently and said Springboks are playing the best rugby. Matt may have some good points but he does not understand that there is nothing wrong if playing within the laws. If Rassie wants to replace 6 forwards at the same time he is allowed to. How does this discriminate against the backs? Playing within the laws is no sin. It is good to accept constructive criticism but when people let their emotions dictate what they saying then it is sometimes irrelevant talk Remember we are back to back World Cup Champions and only Country to win the world cup 4 times, so JK and Matt should rather absorb some knowledge from our coaching staff.
We saw last week that Ireland countered or scrums for most of the game. Sticking to one plan allows opposition to anticipate and counter. We need to keep surprising opposition.
Hi Tim. Love your show. Been watching since the RWC. Love that you are here in S.A. Just one thing I think you missed out on with regards to reaching your 100 000 subs, is you should have used the Loftus crowd more... You should have promoted yourself... you saw how many people recognized you. So do your normal interviews, but follow it up with "are you subscribed?" And ask the people to sub to your channel right then and there... Hit the beer tents and you will reach your 100 000 subs before you are on your way back too the UK... Go to Kings Park and hit 100 000!!! Keep up the good work!
Let's hope we get anyone but an English ref. Wayne Barnes Jr. Couldn't make the onfield calls quick enough it was sad. Then, he reiterated he call ten times to the TMO almost like a warning don't overrule me. Why can't we get a French or Southern hemisphere ref for such a big game. Everyone knows where the English ref stand
Love your channel Tim, your enthusiasm and your willingness to share your honest thoughts. It reflect well in the jump in your subscribers, well done! 😉💪
As this game is at sea level, I'm hoping that Ireland can last the distance. I lived in Joburg for 2 years and know how hard it is to adjust to the altitude - and that was without the physical challenges of rugby. The Boks always play one or two games against visiting teams at altitude as it gives them a huge advantage. A turbo boosted home advantage! This weekend it literally is a (sea) level playing field so I'm hoping the Irish can overcome the phycological blow of last weekend's loss and give it their all. Let's face it, even with the huge home advantage, the Boks only just scraped a win.
@@readesiun988Keep crying, bud. People like you were quiet on that final maul in the group game at the world cup. This time around the Boks won't be as rusty as last week.
Both teams do, boks were obviously better on the day but ireland werent at their full potential too, hopefully both teams have a banger on saturday and its a brilliant match
@@RikiLouw69 Not crying at all, just use to the same old English BS refs, Don't expect them to be as rusty, either will Ireland, because they were both really shite last week, number 1 v a really sub par number 2, how embarrassing for the world champions.
I agree Tim, I think SA by 10/12 points but I hope I’m proved wrong and the boys get a win. Enjoy the game and looking forward to your videos in the sun up to it. ☘️🇮🇪
Thank u Tim for the channel I enjoy it so much just the way that you go about giving feedback on all the games and just updating us on what you thing about the boks and just rugby in Ganeral
It’s a bummer that Ireland have sustained all the injuries they have sustained, but for some reason this team looks not only more balanced but also stronger. If I was an Irish supporter I’d be more confident in this team than the one from last weekend.🤷🏾♂️
Fair play to Farrell for making the big call and putting POM on the bench. He was awful in the last game, you can't be carrying your captain against SA away from home.
I absolutely love Peter O Mahony but i dont think he should be starting anymore. It will be interesting to see how Murray controls the game and wether its a negative or a positive. Great to see ringrose back in a starting position too
Tim. It's fantastic that you have come out to enjoy what we have to offer. You have officially now become the new Guru of rugby. May your channel go from strength to strength. Keep it up Mate. Huge respect
Beirne at 6 is huge, didn’t think Faz would do it but it gives 3 solid lineout options which should help the lineout which has stuttered to say the least. Herring on the bench and Ryan calling will hopefully shore it up. Breakdown wise it frees Beirne up to get busy at rucks and cause some havoc. POM on the bench isn’t a bad sub to pull on when it’s hopefully a tight game.
Siya in, vd Flier out. Tadhg Beirne all day ❤. Crowley edges Pollard. Osborne for Willie. Looking forward to a great game. Hope the IRE team enjoyed their tour of SA. Thanks for great analysis. Best rugby podcast. Enjoy the rest of your stay in SA. Predict a 1 point win for Boks
Beirne at 6 finally, gives him way more opportunity to be a scourge around the park. Glad to see big stu on the bench. Seeing healy on the bench it's no surprise that David humphreys announced today that as of next year non of the irish provinces ar allowed to sign non irish qualified props due to the limited number we are producing
Hi Tim! Great content as always (besides that shocker of a selection of Josh above Siya). Let me know if you want to link up with some great SA Rugby podcasters when in Cape Town. They have access to players. Enjoy our beautiful country.
Great video pal. Have a wonderful time in Durban, so sorry I missed seeing you on the B field at Loftus last week, would have been great to meet you. Always enjoy your content.
Farrell has hit back with a clever pack selection. Ireland are making the best of it and we know they are fighters. Boks to win by single figures if Pollard kicks accurately
I've a feeling we'll win this one. There were many times we were able to dismantle SA last week, with improved accuracy this week i foresee a 10 point win. 27 - 17
Lets be honest that first game could have gone either way..if a few decisions like the disallowed try went the other way Ireland would have won. The Springbok in me hope we are more clinical in the 2nd test which we should be. I think the Boks will go back to kicking and our more traditional style of rugby this time round...Rassie's up to his usual tricks of trying to catch the opposition off-guard which worked in the first test with the new expansive game..I can't wait for the full effect of Mr Brown's attack coaching starts manifesting! Everybody should watch Sky sports NZ's latest show and how John Kerwin, Mills, & Jeff changed their mind about our boring style of rugby..very entertaining to hear.
@@charlesskeen 💯 both teams were off it a bit. It will be interesting this weekend to see if either side jell a bit after learning from last weeks run out.
Thanks Tim, great content as always. Dr Doris' work rate phenomenal. My prediction, Boks 32 VS 18 Ireland. From a Bok supporter, much respect to the 'Boys in Green'.
Really enjoying your channel and views Tim ..always making a point and remaining objective ,not too mention its hard work and lots of intel. Well done ..SA by 12👍🏻👍🏻 Also like the way you add real time content to your channel of whats happening around you 👀🚴🏋🏄♂️🏉. Enjoy SA🇿🇦
Not a bad team considering everything. Healy has massive experience but it may have been better to put Jäger or Loughman on the bench. So happy to see McCloskey there, would have liked Cormac Izuchukwu to be given the chance off the bench too. It’s going to be another battle, I think we will do it by 5. Erin-Go-Bragh ☘💚🇮🇪
Well done again Tim. If we can beat South Africa without 3 of our best players....Sheehan, Bundi and Hugo Keenan it will be a miracle but us Irish believe in miracles
Boks will b better this weekend. 3rd test together. All will step up to the occation. However. Never underestimate the Irish. They play to win. No game at this level is easy
great points, great analysis, great to listen to you, Tim...eventhough your prediction was, ha!! ...thankfully 'off' Super well done to Ireland, & to drop-goal maestro C. Frawley and lets bear in mind...no Hugo K. no J. Gibson-Park, no Mack H. no Dan S. no Aki, no Casey...gee!
The low number of Ireland players in the combined 23 warned me of an Irish backlash. Poor game management by Boks in the end, great Drops by Ire No 10. Sasha was excellent, but should have left that last ball to be our lineout.
Ireland suffering a few end-of-season injuries, unfortunately. On the other hand, although the start of SA’s international season their player depth slightly obfuscates the extent of injuries in their camp.
@@jeanm27 yes I've noticed a few Bok supporters saying that. I don't feel that way about our first choice jersey to be honest. I think with commercialisation different jerseys will be the norm eventually
Andrew Porter did well by engaging early and eliminating the hit on the engage taking away what South Africa do well and he turned that into a wrestling match which meant the power coming through from the locks and Pieter Stef was creating strain on the front row. Second half when SA got ascendancy it was when Porter was off on the hit, normal service resumed
Shouldn't have Healy - made the choice for two LH, didn't have Loughman, should play TOT. Should also have Jager instead of Bealham because he's an excellent TH and should have a shot + Nick, Cian, and / or Cormac at 14 (as he's a former 7s player, has the spatial awareness and speed to cause a tactical quagmire for Boks) on that bench.
It will come down to the first 20min, How both teams start. If Ireland gets ahead and show intent then it's going to be a tough day for the springboks. Ireland will be out to prove a point after comments that they look tired. Buy I do see the boks edging it at the end just based of their finals' experiences. 🇿🇦
One major intangible is being overlooked. It may sound daft, but the Springbok's levels of collective motivation may have dropped, even if this is subconscious. The Springboks have reached all their immediate goals and challenges with their defeat of Ireland last Saturday. If this is the case is it not a mistake to select the same team? The hunger levels are possibly not there. If this is the case, then selecting those who are hungry to prove themselves at the Test match level may have been the way of getting aggregate motivation levels up to a winning level. Rassie may come to regret his no-change decision as the evidence of a lack of cutting-edge hunger for another victory takes hold of the Springboks out on the field. I predict an Ireland win for this reason.
I think the anger/hatred style ego they've embodied will be more than enough to sustain them. They want to pulverise Ireland. They know they're only half way there. I don't think the Irish psyche has what it takes to push back that level of hate style aggression. I expect they'll power through the match hoping to leave nothing behind but broken bodies.
I re-watched the match mid-week to see how long he carried the arm. At least 15 minutes. And he took more hits on the shoulder in that time. I would not be surprised if he needs surgical repair.
Caolin is pronounced Kaylin or Kwaylin depending on where in Ireland you're from. Really impressed at your willingness to learn our weird names so there another one for you!
Initially there were so many Irish injuries Id given up all hope of drawing the series. But actually this Irish team could be even stronger. The backs will have a better defensive shape with Ringrose at 13.
When at Kingspark make sure you climb the grandstand and give us your opinion. Only stadium I’ve been to where you get a sense of Vertigo. Feels like, “if I tripped I’d fall on the grass”
