Corn rolls and braids are not a black American thing. Celtic people were doing their hair in that style thousands of years ago. And you are right about tackling a player with the ball in his own try line. The team that tackled him get a scrum 5meters out from the try line. Well done on predicting correctly 3 of the games. You have come a long way. It's cool to see your enthusiasm.keep it up

Haven’t watched the video yet, so not sure what he said, but I think Cornrows is a style of braids that Africans, and African Americans use. The reality is, braids have been used all over the world for thousands of years, with different styles and names! Let’s not start claiming that the Celts had “cornrows” before Africans… Edit: since it’s a rugby post, come on Ireland 🇮🇪😂

Hey my Brother! Hello from Ireland 👍☘️🇮🇪. It’s great to see you looking out at sports across the world like this. We are very proud of our Irish international rugby team right now. Hope you can spread the word! One thing…. what you call “corn rolls and braids” have existed in Celtic Ireland for thousands of years. And I understand that they have also been a thing in the African American community in your country for three or four hundred years.

Always enjoy your reactions! To your question, yes there is no 'safety' score in rugby. If a team carries the ball back over their own try line and grounds it, it's a 5 metre scrum to the attacking team. In this case though Ramos stood on the sideline while trying to retrieve Lowes kick so it was a throw in to Ireland. Can't answer about the 'hate' on American Football, only know why I can't get into it. I appreciate the physicality, the tactics and the accuracy but it's just way too start stop for me (very like Rugby League). A 60 minute game that generally goes on for 3.5 hours so 2.5 hours of stoppages vs an hour of play. Finally I'm afraid your view on hair may be a little insular. Braids and corn rows are not an American Black thing. Braids are ubiquitous to most ancient cultures, and Corn rows go back thousands of years. They were worn in Ancient Rome, and by the Celts, the Vikings, Africa, long before anyone on this side of the Atlantic was even aware of America. There are statues (you can see today) depicting them being worn, that go back millennia.
@patrickbrennan911
@patrickbrennan911 Год назад
You’ve only every seen one Irish player with cornrows and you’re looking at him. No other Irish player has ever done this. By the way it’s much older than America or Africans in America. Vikings, Celts, Native Americans, Romans, Greeks & North Africans wore them over 1,000 to 2,000 years ago. 6:53

You can't usually see on the highlights whether a kicking game is working or not. Accurate kicking is what allows "highlight moments" to happen. Most of the games France have won recently is because of their kicking. In fact, they largely lost this one because Ireland managed to counter it/not allow France to implement it. Also these clips were not a good example of the way France want to kick. They want to kick on the front foot (which is what comms were saying), here they were under pressure

That's what makes this one of the best annual sporting events around. Intense rivalry but with just as much love and respect. Opposition fans drinking, singing and dancing. Before during and after the game. @Sean Tyler TV this was the first one of your videos I've watched but I'll definitely be back for more. If you don't mind a small bit of constructive criticism though, I think that there should have been more analysis given to Atonios horrendous tackle on Rob Herring. I don't want to put a damnper on an.otherwise amazing match, but Wayne Barnes must have been the only person watching that game who didn't see that as a straight red. Even his own assistant referee was shaking his head when he saw a yellow not red, especially as the TMO had said there was contact to the head Barnes before had made his decision. I'm only bringing it up because of the seriousness of the offense, the court cases in both rugby NFL and move importantly (apart from the possible damage to the players obviously) the fact that parents are going to be watching this and seriously think if they want their children to be put in danger like that. So it's quiet literally the future of the game at stake. Ok sorry rant over I just thought it needed to be sail. All in all a game for the.ages and Seán I'll following your channel much more closely from now on ✊

The oldest evidence of cornrows found are the Venus of Brassempouy in France and the Venus of Willendorf in Austria. Both are between 25,000 and 30,000 years old. It was also the traditional hairstyle of Vestal Virgins in the Roman Empire and was a style for men in 5th Century BC Ancient Greece. 5000 year old Stone Age paintings in Algeria also show women with cornrows. Women in the Horn of Africa and West Africa have been wearing them for nearly 4000 years. Warriors in the Mediterranean and Middle East have worn them as far back as the 4th Century BC and in Ethiopia in the 19th Century. The earliest substantial use in the US was the 1960s and wasn't widespread until the 1990s.

The Irish were braiding their hair before anyone ever heard of a 'corn row'. Look at the artwork in the Book of Kells (800AD) and you'll see various types of braided hairstyles depicted - including 'corn rows'. Legendary warriors are also shown with such hairstyles - and not just in Ireland. When you think about it, it's a sensible hairstyle for keeping hair out of the way, so it would be 'global'. This 'cultural appropriation' thing really gets up my nose!

We would all watch football if they just got on with it, one team on each side (not offence/defence/kick return etc etc) make the hurry up offence mandatory, tell the TV people to shag off with their ads and tell the quarterback to be a man and take a hit like everybody else. the whole world would watch. Its a fantastic sport for the 10 mins an hour that its actually played. think of how fit the huge men in rugby are, watch some rugby league games and imagine how great American football could be.

You should watch johnny sexton during the Ireland's Call anthem. He could barely keep the tears away. Apparently that week, ex players, including Brian O Driscoll, who made a documentary, called Shoulder to Shoulder, spoke to the team about the history of rugby on the Island of Ireland and how difficult it was for players from Northern Ireland who played on the national team during the "troubles". It's a definite must watch. It gives you an understanding of why Ireland's call is important and how Rugby was inspiring especially during those dark times

Bro france kick the ball all the time you have to remember you’re watching 14 minute highlights of an 80 minute game I hear what you’re saying about them holding onto the ball but what they do is kick the ball form a defensive line wait for the other team to run it back turn it over and attack when the opposition defense is unorganised and in their attack shape

It is because France's strength is running and carrying the ball within chaos that they need to kick it a lot. Against defences as well organized as Ireland, carrying all the time would be hitting a brick wall. Kicking may have many objectives but in the case of France, they often kick back and forth until the forwards who try to stay on side get tired, slightly out of position and runners like Penaud can spot some gaps and go for it.

From a Brit point of view, because American sports have multiple timeouts, it's geared for TV. Sports in the US seems to be about reaching mass audiences so it can maximise advertising revenue. That's why in the US, Rugby and Football will never gain mass traction. There's no way US TV networks can wait 40/45 min before they can promote a product/ service / sponsership. NFL is a great sport, though complicated when you get into the nitty -gritty of all the plays (like a game of chess!!) but then that's what makes it intrieging Superbowl - Chiefs vs Eagles was a great game, I enjoy the commentary with all the interesting insights. I follow the Pats, and when I visited an old school buddy who emigrated to Boston, we watched a Pats vs Cheifs game, my god it was a great game watching Brady & Mahomes in action, fantastic experiance.

You can trace them all the way back to ancient celtic people (aka the irish and surrounding areas) a few thousand years ago. Love having you back on RU-vid bruh There's a RU-vidr Squidge rugby who describes kicking tactics in a lot of detail, but they kick a lot because it disorganises the opposition defence. They kick back and forth in a chess battle and then wait for the other team to make a mistake and then attack when the defence fuck up. The Penaud try is because Ireland try to chip and chase, miss the ball and the defence are drifting (hips turned and momentum too far towards the touchline) when they try to tackle Penaud, so he can step inside and make 30m. Then there's no organisation so it's easy to offload back to Penaud. Kicking is tedious, but it's a bigger picture game tactic across 80 minutes. It also tires out the forwards who run back and forth watching the kicking, and the backs who have to defend the kicks

The problem we have this side of the Atlantic is the amount of time it takes up, too many ad's, too much analysis and more recently too much politics. With rugby it's 40mins play, 10 mins halftime and 40mins play again and then time for the pub for some adult beverages As for the cornrows people in these islands have been plaiting hair going back to Celtic times 1000 BC, long before we even heard of Black Men, the Irish word for Black Man is actually Fear Gorm which means Blue Man.

Its great to see black Americans following sports outside of their own country, and most Americans know nothing except the bubble they live which is called America, and to the point of your frustrations seeing an Irish Guy with Corn Rolls and Braids, this is a WHITE thing, a Celtic thing, and the Celtics originated circa 1500 BC, which was 2,119 years before a black person stepped foot in America, and immigrants brought everything to America, and American football is boring, the players look like they are going into battle but they have virtually no contact, the game is too easy to play and that's why no other country in the world plays or watches American Football, and Ruby is played in around 16 African nations. but hey, when I see Black Americans on TV with braided hair, it reminds me of home..............

I totally agree about the amount of kicking. I understand that you can gain territory but you CANT get scores if you dont have the ball. If you kick it to the other team they will most likely just come back and get it over the try line. That is what I have seen anyway. France used to be like that, they would get the ball and run at the opposition....and get a try. It was scary. But now Ireland are doing this.

You can kick the ball tactically to stretch the other team out of their shape. Whether they run it back or kick it back their forwards are all offside. Do it a few times and their defensive line might get all muffled up. This all creates space so that if you run at them a couple of phases later you have more space to run into

No. The two point thing is notbin rugby football. The reason James Lowe's kick down the line was effective is that the French player put his foot un touch (on the line) while holding the ball. That becomes a line ball to Ireland.

The man with the corn rolls is actually from Australia so maybe its an Australian thing too.

The Superbowl was great. Fairly popular here among a lot of folk (Ireland). The rugby weekend was class. A lot of people who dislike either (or both sports) probably know next to nothing about it

It's not that people necessarily hate, NFL, it's more it's hard to watch a game that is technically 60mins of play but takes 3-4 hours to actually play. There is stoppages in every sport but taking that long to play a game is hard. If they cut down the length of time it took to play the game, I think you would get a lot more international supporters. The amount of players needed to play the game is also staggering. Having 48 dressed players per game and unlimited substitutes is extremely strange especially when you watch rugby and see the intensity and physicality it requires.

There is no rugby equivalent to a safety in NFL. In that play the French player had already stepped into touch on the line before he passed it to Dupont so it was a line out to Ireland. Good job with your channel BTW

It's nothing against American football, I definitely don't "hate" it, but I exclusively watch rugby, Gaelic football and hurling and that's it 😅
